Just as a small reminder, there is now just under a week left for the Interior Design Challenge. It may have gotten forgotten with all the bigger and more well known challenges that have been posted recently. But this is still one that people can put in entries in for if they wish to.
In progress, by no means forgotten.
About 2/3 done⌠could you possibly have picked a body with a more difficult C-pillar? My CSR155 '44 Tatra was easier to upholster!
Power windows, cruise control, AC?
If it is inline with what could have existed within that time period, sure.
This is one of the best interiors youâve ever made - and the instrument panel layout could remain useful (with only minor changes) for decades.
I think itâs either the first or the second Iâve made that used an existing dashboard.
@abg7 If Iâm not mistaken, it was seeing one of your interiors in an ancient thead that inspired me to switch my primary timesuck from SketchUp to Automation. The former remains more powerful, but comparable eye candy there takes another order of magnitude of time:
And I did at one point look into learning CATIA, but my existence outside of a mental ward has to thank the reconsideration on that.
I am a couple hours late, but submissions for the inaugural Interior Design Challenge have now closed. With a whopping⌠checks notes âŚtwo entries!
Just give me a moment to review them in Automation and I will announce a winner shortly.
Okay, two things I need to mention before continuing.
One: in spite of downloading all the recommended mods via Automation, for some reason some of the paint options are not showing up properly which make them look significantly worse in my game than in the provided screenshots. So no pics from my end and apologies for that.
Two: Both entries had window winders for the rear window. I have no experience with any cars that have windable windows on non door windows. Not having that in my judgement, but I thought it was interesting to see.
Judgement seems rather short but I had a total of two entries. I am not complaining about that, I am happy that people have wanted to try this out. But maybe in future we can have a rule about the minimum requirements of just seats, dash, centre console and floor, to try and encourage others to try out.
Anyways, onto the entries:
@Knugcab: I did like the more simplistic nature that your entry conveyed, all the pieces you used fit well and nothing jumped out as being out of place for the car. A solid entry and could definitely be seen as appropriate for some models of the Bombardier.
@moroza: A brilliant entry, everything worked well, and the whole interior did feel complete and complimentary to the car it was made for. I enjoyed the 3 line chrome motif you displayed everywhere and it felt like it could be a design theme continued from the grille of the Ascot brand as a whole.
My apologies to Kungcab, your entry was also a very well done one, but I will have to say that moroza is the winner for the inaugural Interior Design Challenge. Congratulations.
Common for muscle cars was that they were pillarless hardtops, which meant that all the windows could be winded down to leave one large unbroken opening. Even the rear ones.
Neat! I learnt something new today.
Two? From the interest expressed previously, I expected a lot more. Is it worth making a poll, maybe, to see what mightâve elicited more entries?
If you would like to make a poll about that you can. After all, this was originally your idea for the interior design challenge.
- Ran out of time; just needed a couple more days
- Life took precedence
- Other competitions took precedence
- Didnât like the base car
- Didnât like the era; prefer newer
- Didnât like the era; prefer older
- Other (please post)

I donât know why people seems to have lost interest in interiors lately. When the possibility to make them arrived, they were all the rage, despite making them sucked back then. Now when they are really easy, we are just a few that wants to make them anymoreâŚ
I was in the process of making mineâŚunfortunately, starting on it too late and an unfortunate incident which I would rather not get in to prevented any progress beyond the floor.
I wanted to make something vibrant and colourful with this, but turns out darker shades hide non-smooth sections pretty well
I wonder if part of it was because the car was more⌠challenging? Too specific? I thought it was easy enough and had enough references to be a good starting car for something like this.
Iâve a couple of ideas planned, waiting for a (relative) lull in challenges; we seem to be a bit saturated at the moment.
I wanted to do it but, I simply forgot about it.
Interior detailing is kind of my thing as well.
