Going for something risky here, but i think it’s gonna pass.

Oldmanbuick and I have decided to keep the rule set as it is.
With that said, JOC is now open for submissions.

Do you get bonus points if the car has more than 5 full seats?

To clarify wagons: are wagon bodies allowed so long as they look like crossovers, or are normal-looking station wagons up for consideration as well?

We have not discussed giving any kind of point bonus for additional seats, as Earl and Wendy plan to typically drive this car themselves with the possibility of a passenger or two here or there. Extra seats will only give whatever boost they will give you to the low-priority practicality score.

What @Maverick74 and I discussed is that the wagon bodies should look crossover-like and not just like pure station wagons. We should probably clarify that in the rules.

I think I am accurately capturing what Maverick and I discussed, but since he is lead judge/host here, I will defer if he wants to chime in with anything else on this.

So an outback is out of the question?

Yes, it would be best if you were to try and make your entry look more in line with a crossover if using a wagon body as a base. I would something like the Subaru Outback is perhaps just under the bar of what we are looking for. I would suggest aiming a little higher than that.

THE GAS STATION? Well, we might need it for sweets and ice cream for the kids.

For $ 20.000, you can get a decent sedan, or even a capable wagon that is easy on fuel and an useful vehicle. But:

Does it have a third seat row option?

Does it have standard four wheel drive?

Does it have the well-proven Yamaguchi reliability?

The SL base model as shown here features a brand new generation of flat four engines and has been designed with the American market in mind. A design that will not cause envy, nor make you look like Lil Abner. Standard four-speed automatic. See your local Yamaguchi driver for further information.

was there a minimum height for tail lights in regulations at the time?

I don’t believe the hosts are going to measure the distance between the bumper and the taillights as long as it looks realistic. You could always send a picture to make sure.

Looking back I already sent one, and it feels too low, just wanna double check

I think you’ll be fine. That doesn’t look too out of place.

Can confirm I am not measuring taillight height.

Those aren’t even low. Put a sports car next to it and the whole tail would probably be at around that height.

If the bumper is at the correct height (and it looks to be the bumper that came with the body so you’re fine) then anything above that is fair game.

Ishihara is a broad japanese manufacturer created in 1937. They slowly and surely based their reputation until the 80s, when the word began to spread massively and rapidly all round the world, especially with their offroad exports and their truly reliable cars. It continued through the 90s, until now and for a long time to come.

The 1998 T̵o̵y̵o̵t̵a̵ ̵R̵A̵V̵-̵4̵ Ishihara R4VE is basically the same as the original 1994 one, as it already proved its success, only always improved.

Taking advantage of Ishihara’s latest steel treatment technologies, the R4VE is very resistant to corrosion, both its monocoque chassis and its body panels. Its suspension is of high quality and is able to take you on any dirt road, bump or hole with no harm.

The Ishihara R4VE is equipped with the famously reliable Ishihara C20 engine first seen in 1986. It is a cast iron 2.0L inline 4 with aluminium DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder. Its “E” variant is equipped with MPFI, making a high compression ratio possible with 11.4:1, giving the Ishihara R4VE a more than decent fuel economy, and WES 8 rating.

This engine is coupled to a permanent 4WD system, considerably smoother than a regular 4x4 setup thanks to its viscous limited slip differentials. It also gives the Ishihara R4VE its renowned nimbleness, despite its offroad capable but still road oriented 215mm wide tyres on 16" alloy rims.

Its nimbleness is of course also due to its very short wheelbase, which does not impact passenger comfort thanks a high sitting position. While able to welcome five, it still keeps some cargo volume in the back, but let’s be honest, you won’t put much more than groceries in there. The interior is of caring Ishihara quality, with wallnut touches, a high-quality CD player, and fully working steering wheel and needles in BeamNG..

R4VE is about escape, about freedom, about praise. Praising the pinnacle of technology of this era, giving you the possibility of doing whatever you want.

Have fun, have a R4VE
