KSAC 2 - The runabout (FINALS!)

So, I looked at the priorities, then I looked at the inspirations, and I decided to completely ignore them all!

So, here we have the 1984 Yojido Cedo 550 Fun Top Sun Picnic Fun Wheel Drive 4-Door 7-Passenger Van

In 1984, the new Cedo was unveiled. The car was revolutionary in terms of design! In terms of engineering it was exactly the same as the previous generation. However you did get a lot of new fancy engines!

Such as
550cc inline 3 (1984-1990)
550cc supercharged inline 3 (1984-1990, JDM only)
660cc inline 3 (1990-1992)
660cc turbocharged inline 3 (1990-1992)
800cc inline 3 (export only)
And a 1000cc inline 3, for the rich folks.

You also had plenty of transmission choices, from 2 or 3 speed automatic to 4 or 5 speed manual.

Now that was a whole bunch of interesting information!

The new Cedo came with what Yojido called β€œThe Any Wheel Drive!” Meaning that you could get your Cedo with any wheel drive you want! FWD for hauling families? Sure! RWD for transporting haybales with the Cedo pickup? Hell yeah! 4x4 for reigniting the spark on your failing marriage? Absolutely!

Here are some reviews!

β€œSolid van if you have a deathwish”
β€œBought one for my Mother-In-Law. She crashed and burned. LOL”
β€œI was thinking of buying an S-Class, but once I heard the new Cedo comes with flowers as standard, I just had to get one.”

If this car turns out to be even remotely competent, I’m going to be extremely surprised. It’s slow and clunky van that’s as comfortable as repeatedly stepping on a Lego piece. Right, and it’s also going to take the entire budget to buy one. But it has a flower, surely that’s bonus points. Right? Right???

Extras

Initially, the design was supposed to be a lot more similar to the Subaru Sumo

That idea was quickly buried, and the next van design looked a lot better.

That idea was also buried because I didn’t feel like it was cute enough, and the 3rd design was this one!

I have way too much time in my hands so here’s some fun lore :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Production of the Yojido van ended in early 1992, after which a lot of derivatives popped up. The Europeans got the Ponto Ponter. In production from 1992 to 2022

1999 Facelift

And the Koreans had the Hangook T-Town, produced from 1992 to 2005.

OK, I raised the budget, and I am a bit busy now, but since I doubt much will happen in 7 minutes, I will cheat and say it is open now!

Also, it’s sad we cannot use Inline 2 or boxer 2 because cars such as the fiat 126 used those type of engines

Curious, but would convertibles get a small stat buff given the game kind of hates them?

Not really. Since there are reasons why convertibles may not make 100% sense here, I decided to let them be a kind of β€œmake them at your own risk” thing. Allowed, but if it’s a good idea is up to you…

1984 Velt 202 Komfort Coupe

The Komfort trim comes standard with the 1.0L 50hp engine, 4 speed manual, hubcaps, a driver side wing mirror, 8-track player, bootlid spoiler, cloth seats and softer suspension tuning.

Austrian manufacturer Velt, now owned by American conglomerate AVE, has updated the 202 compact hatch with a new body style, a 3-door coupe.
It is not sporty in the slightest, but is somehow one of the best handling beam cars I’ve made.

Heya, I’m glad I get to participate since this challenge really inspired me again! I know this is probably not a good car considering the challenge stipulations, but I think it’s still realistic enough where it sits with the rules.

Nice car, I don’t know why would it have a third brake light though

3rd brake lights became mandatory in the US in 1986. Could just be early adapter and if the car was sold in the US, it would make sense to have a 3rd brake light even on the EU spec models.

However I should add, prior to 1986 3rd brake lights were rare even in the US. I’d say it’s maybe a bit odd but not that out of place. After all, the nordics loved safety features.

I meant to say that they were rare/optionals on standard cars, let alone econoboxes

Call it Safety++ package and it all makes sense.

1984 Axxus A1 Starlet

Now comes standard with a passenger side mirror, for enhanced visibility

New standard side body molding, to protect your ass in the event you didnt use your mirrors

Hubcaps, and a new interior cloth seat pattern
