PRIMUS GLOBUS on the 1980 Letarian Transportation Show

As the company has almost 20 models with two brands, Primus decided to exhibit only '79 and the all-new 1980 models - bringing everything into the hall would cost a fortune - and leave few space for the competition we’d like to see and scrutinize.

The '79 models are all found in the small car category.
The Publica is still around, and many Letarans will still remember the impact it made in '69! Although it’s one of the oldest cars on the market, the demand is still there, and since the assembly line and development expenses have paid off, it’s sold with no markup for a really cheap price. While the GTS still plays a certain role on the consumer market, the regular CL and GL are mostly demanded by fleets, trusting in the excellent reliability. The production in Frunia ended, and every Publica sold worldwide is now from Letara. 1982 will be it’s very last year, as we expect shrinking sales of this classic in or lineup and it won’t be profitable anymore, as well new regulations might exceed the platform’s capabilities.

The CL and GL models feature a revised 1.3 four-cylinder engine with 58 horsepower - even the GL is more of a budget car, offering good comfort and drivability.

In 1969, the ST was one of the very first hot hatches defining - and successfully defending - a new market segment. The grandmaster of hot hatches is still among us, and it features an 1.8 mated to a five-speed manual - with almost 90 horsepower it’s capable of going over 190 kph - if you are brave enough. As it will be tough to find more power for less money with a two-year warranty, we are not astonished that this car is still going strong after 11 years.

The Urbano is a new Frunian developement, intended to replace the Publica, but with a radically new concept. The car is minimalistic - 55 horsepower from a three-cylinder, no unneccessary features, reduced to the essential. On the other hand, it accomodates five adults - one more than the Publica - for even less money, and the new all-aluminium engine with three valves per cylinder is actually as modern as those machines in today’s sports cars. A big plus is the low consumption of only 6,5 liter regular, and the car had an excellent start in Frunia, however, we consider the car as too spartan and non-conformistic for Gasmea, so it isn’t available there. As most Letarans won’t have seen one until today, it’s good to have it displayed here once again. Reliability expectations should match the Publica, as things that aren’t installed won’t break.
The Urbano is a game changer in the city car segment - if you don’t believe that sentence, convince yourself and ask for a test drive - you are happily invited!

Finally, the all-new 1980 cars, starting with the next facelift of the Globus Atlas.
For utility cars, it’s not important to follow the latest trends or to be fancy. It’s platform is even older than the Publica, as the second-generation Atlas, now a Globus instead of a Primus, was introduced in 1963. Frequent updates, improving major aspects of the vehicle, prevent it from being put to the old iron.
It’s advantages are similar to the Publica: Proven reliability at a very cheap price. The engine is unchanged, as the 123-horsepower V8 with catalytic converter gets every job done. And the Atlas costs less than it’s rivals with only six cylinders.

And finally, you have the opportunity to take a look at the new Primus flagship!
When the Imperator was unveiled in 1967, the showgoers couldn’t believe their eyes, the Imperator was so ahead of it’s time that it became a true figurehead, known worldwide and fighting for the lead in the luxury class.
Now, 13 years later, our respected competitors have reacted and sawed on the comfortable chair of success. As the first Imperator was a once-in-a-lifetime sensation, the expectations were high.
As mentioned in the beginning, PRIMUS GLOBUS has a lot of models. To be more competitive, the Astrona and Comet were merged in 1978, and now the Globus Grand Cruiser and the Imperator were unified in the Imperator II.
Since the Gasmean market is now a primary target for the Imperator, the bold front design adapts to the local taste, but without being too ornate or old-fashioned. The side profile features almost invisible B-pillars, resulting in an almost coupé-like feeling. The rear end is not as Gasmean as the front, adding a hint of sportiness and lightness to the car.

As Diesel is still not provided for consumer cars, the 270D won’t be sold in Letara. Until the top-of-the-line Imperator arrives next year, the 320i is the only engine available for the moment. But don’t be disappointed, the 3.2 V6 has been tuned to 185 horsepower, and it’s a lot more responsive than before. It is so willingly on the gas that you forget you’re moving a full size luxury car - the use of partial aluminium panels decreased the weight of the Imperator correspondingly. A brand new and innovative electronic transmission shifts so fast, smooth and efficient through the four gears that we don’t need to offer you a manual anymore. The 320i is almost as fast as the 520i predecessor, so yes, buying the six-cylinder is no renoucing.

The old Imperator was class-leading in interior design and quality, and is still competetive these days. Nevertheless, our competition did push us further. The dashboard of the new Imperator is heavily inspired by the bridge of a cruise ship. Spacious and inviting, with all elements within easy reach of the driver. To underline that a new Imperator introduces a new age of car building, it comes with revolutionary electronic equipment. Digital gauges are not the only game-changer: The POIC (Primus Onboard Information Center) is an advanced trip computer not only providing tons of information - but you can also configure car functions like coming-home-lights, delay on interior light dimming, change color of the gauges, shift mode of the gearbox (yes, it can be set to a sportier behaivour) and much more.

Dedicated to build the best car of the world, we finally managed to build the Imperator with so many unmatched features that it’s hard to miss our stand in hall 2B.

1980 Mara Kanyon / Bizon / Yak

After the domestic success with (and approval of) the Kavaler outside any five year plan, Mara’s top comrades brass utilized their apparent newfound freedom to develop more new model lines.

The first of these new projects to be completed was the off-road-focused Kanyon (SUV) / Bizon (Ute) / Yak (heavy van) model family, making their domestic debut in 1980.

They all shared the same ladder frame and 2.5 litre Perspekt inline-4 engine making around 80 hp, and were available with 4x4 and RWD drivetrains.

WELCOME TO VAUGHN!

For 1980, Vaughn corporation has no less than three new models to present to the public! Why don’t we start with maybe the finest of them all? The…

WRAITH MONTEZUMA

In 1953, the Wraith Montezuma was the car we were all dreaming of. In 1980, it is still one of the world’s finest personal luxury cars. The downsized platform means better economy, without sacrificing comfort or passenger space. Front wheel drive layout and 4 wheel independent suspension has taken care of that. An all new 4 litre all aluminium V8 is powering it forward. While holding on strong to its old beliefs, one could still say that the future is here now!

WRAITH NEAPOLITAN

How could we possibly improve on the old Neapolitan? By letting the Montezuma lend it its platform, of course! The compact Wraith sedan now shares its underpinnings with one of the most refined luxury cars in the world - now that speaks for something, right? The distinctive and elegant fastback shape means that you won’t confuse it with anything else on the road. So, if you want four doors, but still elegance and refinement on the same level as one of our top notch models, look no further than the Neapolitan!

VAUGHN HIEROPHANT

Not only does Wraith introduce their first front wheel drive cars, even Vaughn has one to show you. The Hierophant has been the choice for a comfortable, durable, economical compact sedan all since its introduction in 1967. The third generation now is switching over to front wheel drive and the durable and economical 4 cylinder from the Vaughn Firebolt - without abandoning what made the old Hierophant such a good car. So why wait until the future with buying the car of tomorrow? Vaughn has it already today!

Facelift of the Rushba!

A new decade, a new Rushba. This is over most advanced upgrade of the Rushba to date. Not only was the design adjusted for the new decade and the generel design language of Popas, the engine runs not only more economical, but is also build more robust. Highlight for the facelift is the whole new interior, setting a new standart for Rushbas today, and the ones to come.

A new name on Letara’s roads!

With the Cheechi we are bringing Popas Luxury to the masses. Coming in sedan and coupe version both of these cars are meant for people who could afford two Rushbas. Fitted with a 3.6l V8, both of these cars easily reach the 200km/h mark. Both versions come standard with automatic transmissions and an interior which is only overtruimphed by our presidental limosines. For customers who are looking for a more sporty tune, the Coupe comes with a more aggresive tune and a excluisive bodykit.

Bring the Sportscar to everyone!

While not yet available in Letara, the Blinsky gets a new bodyform. While the Blinsky before was a conventional coupe, the new Blinsky features a Hatchback design which now houses the 1.6l Boxer 4 cylinder. The engine produces 100hp and revs to 7500rpm. The short wheelbase of just 2.4m will make sure that the handling will be sharp and quick

While not legal to sell in Latara for the moment, we want to make sure the next version will be available to the people of Letara. Otherwise we can provide you a list of Importers.

Turbocharged and uncontrolled

This Blinsky was fitted with an experimental Injection and Induction system. Our engieers were able to generate over 170hp with this new setup. To be able to handle the new speed, a new wide fiberglass bodykit was added, and more downforce was added. Only a limited number of cars will be made available to the public

Commercial car display

The new workhorse.

Finally the Popas Osel comes back to Letara. Already roaming the russian roads since 1964, this new version of the truckplattform will hit Letara’s road. Main additions to this new generation are ne much bigger engine, gaining 2 cylinders over the previous 6, and increasing the size to 6L. Furthermore a vast catalog of beds and diffrent rear setups can be ordered right from the factory. So are 3 axles and even 4 axles versions with diffrent versions of flatbeds, box design and other speicalst equipment no problem

Time to enforce.

For the goverment Popas made a special trim of the Cheechi. This cheechi is a mix of the sedan and sport version, combining the 4 door bodystyle with the enginetune of the sport one. Also a lot of costsaving and performance enhancing features where added. So that this version comes with an cheaper more rugged interior and a upgraded 5 speed manual takes place instead of the 4 speed automatic

Figthing a diffrent fight

Popas is also introducing new speical versions of the Osel and Buhanka. Both of these being made for the Letara firefighters. The Buhanka was build to hold onboard water and extra equipment whie the Osel received a fully operateable ladder.

Move the world

The D-1000 is Popas newest train. The two part locomotive features two 8l turbocharged inline engines, pushing the combined output to over 4000hp. The engine were specificlly designed to take multiple times of fuel, from common fuels to Avgas.

Backrooms

Okay listen. Its no secret that sometimes running a country can be hard. And we know how to make that easier.

If you want, we can build your secrect services a special version of the Rushba. On the outside it looks like and other Rushba, but on the inside we manged to cramp in the V8 from the Cheeci, giving you 200hp in sheepwool

Also if you have problems with way to quick racers or opposing parties, we can give you the “Speed Enforcment System” in your Cheechi enforcers. Other cars might be quicker than this, but nothing will outrun a 50 cal bullet, trust us, we tested it

The Aero Free-Float

About the Free-Float

Aero already has a history of experimenting with and selling amphibious cars, and this is our newest push into the field. The final Free-Float trim will be arriving in Letara in 1980, 2 years after the regular 2nd-Gen Free’s launch; though truth is, an amphibious variant for this Gen’s Free had been in our plans from the very start.

To achieve the amphibiousness of the Free-Float, the undertray has been fully clad and sealed, and the body lightened and re-enforced to prevent leakages. Lower-mounted grills have been removed, and the exhaust outflow was raised higher on the car’s bodywork. A special changeover mechanism allows one to engage the steerable-propellers independently of the wheels, allowing the car to be easily driven right into/out of the water. The vehicle also comes fitted with all necessary navigation lights.

This is understandably the most expensive of the Frees, both to buy and own, but not by as much as you’d think. And the costs certainly justify themselves, since how many other cars on the road can travel over water as well as land? Plus, it doesn’t sacrifice any on-road performance or comfort- if anything, this car has slightly less drag due to all the cladding, and is slightly more comfortable due to the higher-quality waterproof interior materials we used.

So whether you need the all-terrain mobility, are looking for a pleasure cruiser, or just want an unusual toy to show off, come in and check out how the Aero Free-Float can expand our travel horizons!

Disclaimer: Due to its size, the Free is only rated for very small waters, such as canals and small lakes. Consult the manual before entering the water to see if the Free-float can handle it, and never take the vehicle onto large seas or choppy/stormy waters.

As an '80s vision of a performance car from 2000, this concept fits the brief well - and deserves a remake for 4.27.

This model is very cute!
A question about the format of the post, how do you do it to place colored backgrounds? thank you!

You can right click > inspect element over anyone’s post to steal have a look at their formatting. You’ll have to figure out the hierarchy of the div classes yourself but it’s pretty easy because it highlights the elements visually based on where on the code your cursor is hovering over. Cheers.

PS:

Copy options like copy as outerHTML should let you copy the entire thing from whatever div class you’re highlighting.

PRIMUS GLOBUS 1990

Welcome back! We happily invite you to try out our newest products. After many new improvements for 1989, 1990 is no less!
The Primus Advance - called “propably the best compact car of our times” in the 1984 supertest by abg7 is now ready for a facelift. With new, even more aerodynamic look, new engines and some minor interior changes, it is better than ever.
The new Advance offers a wide spread of gasoline engines from 66 to 130 horsepower and the trim levels CL, GL, GLX and GTI. Shown is a GTI-16 with 130 horsepower in the color “FIRE!”.

Next to it you see a new addition to the Astrona program. Facelifted last year, the Astrona 180, 200, 230D and Turbo AWD defended the crown in the midsize segment. But many of our older loyal customers missed the old 180 with less power. The Astrona 160 adds a new entry-level model. With 92 horsepower, it is not a low-performer, even with the automatic transmission. The Astrona 160 GL Automatic as shown here costs only $ 11.800. The 160 is available as GL and GLX, while the 250 tds comes as GLX or GLS model. TDS? Yes. Imagine a car doing the sprint to 100 kph in only 8,5 seconds, running up to 240 kph while burining only 7,1 liter Diesel. The Astrona 250tds is the first Diesel car that actually makes fun for a sporty driver´s nature. The 140 horsepower car - a 1989 1/2 model - is already on sale for a few months in Frunia and Hetvesia, and maybe the government greenlights Diesel cars? Who knows.

Globus has no less to offer. The new Bravura merges the models Intruder and Bravura to a spacious five-door sedan. Yes, you read right: It looks like an elegant sedan, but has a giant hatch to store even large items. If you prefer the sporty two-door, it is available for the LT trim. The best value for money? This is what Globus is known for. Letaran price lists are not ready right now, but expect it to be noticeably below $ 10.000 for the base LE model - a lot less than the competition without sacrificing quality. The Bravura is available as two-door and five-door with four-cylinders either delivering 92, 105 or 130 horsepower in the trims LE, LS and LT. The green car shown here is a Bravura LS, the mid-trim model.

The Stallion returns in new shape, it may look similar to the Bravura LT two-door, but it adds the following you can´t get for a Bravura:

  • no-cost two tone paint option
  • touring suspension
  • 160 horsepower DOHC 16V engine
  • digital gauges
  • premium leather interior and sound system with carbon-styled decor elements
  • limited slip differential.

Race on sunday, work on monday? You do not need two seperate cars for that.

Globus lets also stand up a legend again! The Grand Cruiser returns after 10 years of absence, and it incorporates the Gasmean Dream! It is a large car! It comes with V8 engines only! It is spacious and comfortable! And it is cheap - $16.400 for the LS base model. With aerodynamic shape and modern technology, the Grand Cruiser is faster and more economical than you might think. The Leratan market that rather demands for nimble cars might not be the ideal environment for the Grand Cruiser, but your PRIMUS GLOBUS dealer sells you one on special delivery, if you want.

Last but not least a little preview: We all still remember the open mouth our visitors had when seeing the 1980 Imperator and all its ground-breaking features.
The 3rd gen Imperator is showcased in Letara for the first time! Since this is still a prototype, and the car could not be ordered until January 1991, we will neither provide the specifications nor open the car for the public. But we might inspire you to think twice if you should buy a competitor right now or the new Primus luxury next year. Take a look through the windows and decide!

Given that the next round of LHC spans the time period from 1985-1995, it makes sense that the second LTS takes place in 1990, to tie in with the LHC, even though LHC5 is a few months away.

@cake_ape is this somehow still relevant for current LHC?

Yesish.

I was waiting on the round opening up
