This one is general: I don’t listen to jazz all that much and I do have a huge backlog of shit to listen to but there is one I highly recommend: Esbjörn Svensson Trio (also called EST), they’re a pretty decent Swedish jazz band. Sadly the pianist you see died in a scuba diving incident about 4 years ago. RIP.
@ramthecowy I guessed you’ve heard both In flames and the Haunted Feared is underrated imo, and deserves a listen or two, as Ola is a great guitarist and songwriter. Och, ja, jag är från Sverige
Another guitaris you should check out (if you haven’t already) is Andy James. He have the best of both worlds as i recogn, with both bouts of taste and speed in his playing.
Vortex mind
@gridghost Hurra, en svensk person til! (Yeah I am speaking Norwegian because I kinda forgot all my Swedish. I have already listened to and absolutely adore all of Andy James’ playing.
Pink Floyd, something that was also a staple of the road trips of my childhood.
Of course, DOTM was one of the most successful albums of all time so its difficult to miss
Following up the request in the OP, I found two new bands kind of in the same vein: Mechina and Fear Factory. Liquorworks kind of has the same guitar tone but not the same style really apart from the “Djenty” rhythm. Fear Factory is a little more Nu-metal. (kind of)
So you’re a fellow guitarplayer then? (just guessing from your answer about AJ ).
Yes, I am
To @Fayeding_Spray, @koolkei and others who listen to computerised music do you guys know any music like this:
Specifically, songs that don’t have an in-your-face percussive beat, no vocals please and don’t make it too boring and ambient, for that Brian Eno will suffice.
why, i do believe i do…
After what has happened today this seems appropriate
Love me some Aphex Twin.
My favorite Aphex Twin track:
I actually didn’t like Aphex that much. Will try some more tonight.
And for all you Fiesta owners.
Still couldn’t bring myself to like Aphex Twin.
Yuss!
Okay so this post was enough to coax me out from under my rock as I’m just too addicted to forcing my music taste on others, so here goes!
For those metalheads, I recommend giving these bands a try (I’ll try to include lesser known bands and sort them in genres)
Progressive Metal:
The Chronicles of Israfel (They just released a new album!)
Leprous (They are releasing a live DVD soon, and they are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen, the singer has a great operatic-style voice)
Children of Nova (They have split up now but they left some great music, also the singer’s falsetto is nothing short of insane)
3 (Three) (Flamenco-style guitar playing mixed with metal? Yes please!)
Hacktivist (Grime mixed with Djent? It’s controversial but I for one love it!)
Other Rock/Metal
Violet Cold (Post Black Metal/Ambient solo artist who mixes retro synths with blast beats and tremolo-picking. Also has some stunningly beautiful piano and ambient passages [see Magic Night album for that])
Oh Hiroshima (Post-Rock band who offer some beautiful and uplifting guitar tracks)
Ihsahn (ex-Emperor vocalist, Black/Progressive metal with ambient elements, he has a rather haunting voice as well)
Agent Fresco (Progressive Rock/Pop band from Iceland. Vocalist has a great vocal range!)
Isole (Doom Metal band from Sweden, I like them for their vocalist and their meaty guitar riffs)
Aaaaaand finally some random others that I couldn’t miss out!
NOËP (Indie Pop artist from Estonia, has a very interesting voice)
Ulver (Shadows of the Sun Album) (Originally a Black Metal band, Ulver have shifted to Ambient, then to Trip Hop! This album is a beautiful piece of ambient music, with low, haunting vocals)
Death Grips (Industrial Hip-Hop band, way off what I normally listen to but I love the strange sounds they produce)
And a small note for the electronic discussion, my go-to for that sort of music is The Glitch Mob, pretty well-known but check them out if you haven’t heard them before
(also sorry for the long post, but I love showing music to people! …and back under my rock I go.)
PLEEEEB so you finally escaped college for one post
Sounds like a pretty eclectic playlist, gotta check it out.
Could some people suggest me some stuff similar to Marshmello - Alone (Streex Remake) and Streex - Alive?
Future Pop Punk, I think is the Genre.
