Need a V8 Engine

I thought I’d give it a shot, too:

Yes, it is a bit heavier than the other engines in this thread, and it falls a little short of the power target, but on the other hand the torque curve is more suitable for a muscle car and the power is also more accessible since peak power comes a little earlier than the redline.

This should be a fun project, will attempt later tonight.

This is a modernized version of one of my 1950s era designs, featuring electronic fuel injection, variable valve lift, and variable valve timing. It’s also heavily tuned of course. Otherwise, it’s still a design from the Golden Age of muscle cars. It could be rebuilt with modern materials if desired. Also, the engine runs on super unleaded gasoline, so it can use standard gas stations.

Sorry about the stats not showing on the picture.
Specs are :

5.0 Litre flatplane V8.
Power: 487HP @7200 rpm
ECO: 30%
Man hours: 200
Material costs: 2250
Weight: 204KG
MTBF: 73

just something I threw together real quick. It’s crossplane because a flatplane muscle car is a silly idea. I went nasp and kept the displacement low because it felt right

you can switch to titanium connecting rod and get rid of that message but it only adds 8 to the reliability and throws it $300 over budget

Why is there no respect for big crossplanes? Here’s my chrome plated 9.5 liter Brimstone. Over 31% economy, over 600ft-lbs of low end torque, and only about 500 pounds.

Damn, got chrome?

If I was going big, I was going bold. Had goldplated been a option I’d have picked that.

This is my DuraTorq 5.0, a high quality engine witch makes it expensive but with abilitys to save cash

I´m more into small engines so a V8 with special stats is somewhat new to me. So have a look at my design an please feel free to give some feedback

And here we have the 4.5L DuraTorq
