Off Road Coupe/hatchback: Challenge [Closed]

Old bodies have a safety penalty, using them will make it harder to compete in that category, but at the same time, this competition has banned mods which will also limit the number of bodies. It’s a tough call.

Sometimes old makes more sense. That’s why our Storm Envy MK1 platform was used for the new Rally Coupe.



Due to the restrictions on cylinder counts, we chose the simplest available solution to make the Envy Rally Coupe live up to the legacy of the old V8 powered counterpart. The solution? Cut the V8 in half and use just four big cylinders. Then use a turbo to make up the lost horsepower.

Win or lose, it’s sure to be a terrifyingly fun machine.

The Scarab Flare platform was made with rallying in mind.

Scarab Flare X-trail builds on this and tries to make a solid performer. A 2.5l turbocharged V6 and AWD makes it a worthy contender.

This is the 1992 OMG Mauler. It is fitted with a large displacement highly economic naturally aspirated DOHC I4. The drivetrain is a manually lockable 4WD mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It’s a go anywhere 4x4 with road manners.

Regarding parts that require mass production, are engine components that require a forge works or CNC shop among them?

If you can mass produce them it’s ok, so forged and CNC is ok.

I’ll take good looking and safe. So it’s not much of an off-roader, it drinks a ton of fuel, costs a fortune, and will eventually eat your wallet with repair costs, but it is half-a-V8 in a sporty-ish car that can handle some mild off-roading.

Plus, when you inevitably do lose control of the beast and slam into a tree because you thought it could handle more than just mild off-roading, at least you’re safe, right?
