We did keep the vague “a tenday” promise and are proud to open up the beta to you, in case you are willing to help out find those last
nasty little bugs. As you can see your version doesn’t update automatically, that is because it very much isn’t a release version just yet.
As we are paying some $350/month for bandwidth, so we thought it is worth a try to let you help in that regard too! If you use the torrent
and seed at least for a while, that would be much appreciated! A very compact tool for using torrents would be uTorrent, which you can download here. If you choose to try the torrent, install the client linked above, or use your own, then download the torrent file below
and start it up! It’s really simple.
To get your installation updated to the latest version, download this big patch (300MB) first. Install the downloaded patch by simply double-
clicking the file once it’s done downloading and follow the instructions. Then you progress by installing the latest patch on top of that by
downloading the following, smaller file (10MB) if you used the torrent (thanks!).
Links Removed, Thread Closed
Install the patches by double-clicking them and following the instructions. Any further updates will be posted here in this OP. We plan on
running the open beta until roughly the end of the week. Use this thread to discuss, ask questions and report bugs! We’ll look into it.
So what is in the patch and what should you expect?
Main Features:
[ul]]Suspensions and working vehicle dynamics!/:m] ]The Automation Original Soundtrack!/:m][/ul] Other Features & Changes:
[ul]]Updated and new car performance tests./:m] ]Several new testing graphs for the new tests./:m] ]A revamped testing page./:m] ]More intricate cooling calculations./:m] ]More intricate aerodynamics calculations./:m] ]Wheels, rims and tyres./:m] ]Fuel economy calculations./:m] ]Other things I can’t remember right now./:m][/ul] Special features of the open beta:
[ul]]Plenty of bugs for you to find./:m][/ul]
What to expect: A somewhat unpolished new release that is reasonably playable and possible to have fun with. What we expect: Your bug reports and feedback to help us polish this version a bit more before official release.
Please Note: Your old platforms, models and engines are not compatible to the new version anymore. Sorry guys,
that won’t be the last time that happens either, it’s the way of game development.
Yes, that’s intended, as cooling required does not equal the engine power anymore. To avoid mix-ups with engine power, the cooling is given in another unit.
Killrob Edit: That is indeed the case. You don’t buy your aircon in units of hp either If you choose kW as your power unit, then kJ/s are used as cooling unit. 1 kJ/s = 1 kW.

ROFLOL, we use BTU in the US instead of kW for aircons, still it is confusing for me as there is no relationship with using kW for cooling when building the car but HP for the engine. Its hard to imagine how much it could actually cool.
Are the Fuel Economy Calcs still bugged? With a small hatchback type of car, i struggle to get above 8 L/100 km, even with fitting a very low-tech, badly adjusted 1970’s V8 with triple carbs.

Ok now that I moved onto designing an engine I FINALLY spotted the “Required Cooling” spec…DERP!!!
