OPWC 1 - The Roaring 80s

thing is there was never a budget cap in that era, for techpoints would +8 be any better? thats when both active suspension and cvt release to my knowledge

also allow open wheel bodies, not allowing open wheel bodies in a open wheel car challenge is just very dumb and stupid rule, like some peoples can do realistic full 3d car but thats only the 5% of the automation players

Issue is the open wheel bodies are insaneley broken, plus 80s f1 cars can be made with like 10 fixtures if you really want

Making realistic full 3d cars isnt as easy as you thought, theres only the 2020 F1 car that has all the premade 3d parts, and making a custom 80s f1 car can take you to 500 fixtures, and making liveries on full 3d cars are just as hard as making the body itself

And yes those 3d builds can take atleast 3 weeks and that is already impressive, they might take you 2 months

I meant a techpool budget
If you go to the techpool theres a cost to research that tp
Many challenges set a max cost there that allows them to customise it under a budget

Oh that could be a good one, thankd for the rec

Thats not even close to a realistic 80s f1 car
just allow open wheel bodies, its not that hard, and open wheel bodies bugs alot in beamng, but not in fixture, thoe bodies never gonna hurt your game or the cars fixtures, and i found the stats normal in these bodies

Scintilla, you are misunderstanding this. The whole point is for people to learn 3d and such, the F1 bodies are directly banned to stop the OP stats and such, as engineering still plays a part. F1 bodies are wildly broken and are almost always banned for a very good reason.

Making liveries on it must be extremely hard

Also what body to use since it will have different weight to an f1 car

I personally recommend one of the LMP bodies, whether its the shorter or longer ones. While heavier than F1, it easily fits the tire regulations and such.
My car is currently around ~800kg, with the F1 cars of the time having a minimum weight of 540kg.
While on the surface level this is quite far off, you have to remember fuel load.

A quick rough calculation from me shows that the fuel tank size from 1985 was 220L.
220L of gasoline weighs about 165kg.

540+165=705

Still quite far off, but its much closer, so just imagine you have a full fuel tank. That and im sure you can make a lighter car than mine consider its a betterdeals.

Oh yeah and as i mentioned earlier, you really dont need a livery. A simple basic color can work fine.

IT WORKS IN BEAM SOMEHOW

(You are free to use this however you like - Include using it as a base chassis!)

some progress. Building this is hell, so I’m just curious how many are actually going to participate?

Damn i love that… On competition, i dont know. You have me technically but im pretty sure we already agreed that i would automatically get last place.

I am, but struggles are real with crafting this thing. Ive already got my engineering complete though.

If you’d like, i can provide a better base chassis to start work from, just to make life easier for people.
