Out of Africa Challenge [Final Results]

Sooooooooooooo cloooooooooooooooooooooooooose!!! Damnit, next time :stuck_out_tongue: Actually this is the first time I have not been near the bottom  WOO!!!

My strategy was to do somethiung small and easy to drive, so itā€™s a success. In full honesty I wasnā€™t paying any attention to the offroad driving. Accidents happens :stuck_out_tongue:

There are four seats inside. Enough said

Size makes the difference. By using a kei car body I could easily go full cheap on steel and put all the dollars in the engine.

Overall Iā€™m happy with the outcome, 17th place is a success comparing the experience of the competiton.

PS: Celebration time, one place higher then Artemis [no offense mate  ]

Jason, tym razem wygrałeś!

But seriously, no problem mate. Weā€™re both from Poland (I guess?) and weā€™re at 17th and 18th place. I guess Arthemis could be at better place if it will be smaller (RLY, itā€™s a small truck). But I made my car to be practical and best in off-road as it can. Anyway, I expected that it will be last ;D

Anyway, who wants screens of Airborne Arthemis? Iā€™m going to post them also with a description about the car in my company thread, tomorrow I guess. Anyway, opinions?
BTW. Did I mention that this thing has a 1927 litres of trunk capacity? I can send screen on PM if someoneā€™s not believing me.

BTW. Kiedy mam wypuścić wg. ciebie to coś na bezdroże patrząc jak się te kombiaki zagrzebują, Jason?

Here are the stats for mine:

Not too bad IMO for a car

19th place, wellā€¦ it looks like the economical version of the Olympus didnā€™t really work.

I didnā€™t pay a single penny of attention to the Off-Road stat, kinda expected that place.

Wypadki się zdarzają :stuck_out_tongue:

Od razu. Przygotuj wyciągarkę i łopatę. Ja tam raczej też dużo nie zrobię. Naped tylko na tył i bardzo lekki wĆ³z :stuck_out_tongue:
Ale masz mĆ³j miecz: :stuck_out_tongue:

PS.: I am from Poland, but the chat is english only. We need to blend in

It is quite tall and has a lot of morphing range at the back, so when you make the back longer the cargo area goes up fast.

In addition the cargo box was slightly too large, which I fixed in the V2.0

You should see my high-roof 90s van, when morphing to maximize the cargo area it becomes huge.

Sorry, just needed to start the offroad storm. By the way, how in the f***ing sake could you put RWD in a car thatā€™s DEFINITELY going to Africa, in 1990?
But, really; I guess that if the Arthemis would be at the same size of Gobi, it could be even in Top 10, I guess. But Iā€™m happy with things that happened.
It was pretty nice competition.
Tycondero, will you select the cars at their records? (such as biggest trunk :smiling_imp: )

Meh. Maybe the trunk was too big. But hey, canā€™t I be happy, do I have to meet the person that destroys my fun?
Anyway, 2.0 Defender-not wasnā€™t released before this competition, so my car and itā€™s capacity is legit, hyeh.

Yay!!! 9th Place!!! First time that Iā€™ve got in top 10!!!
Letā€™s put the comfort asideā€¦ yup, SBA decided to paint only 2 layers, Primer and Basic colour. The seats are made from (extra cheap) local Vinyl. Will it last? Letā€™s see for 3 years and hope not get bitten by Big cats over there.

It was just slightly too large, the cargo area is still quite big.

I mean, itā€™s like a very tall hatchback, so OFC the cargo area will be large

Yes, and it showed . Must say that when writing all of this I frequently still laugh about it. The interior is really terrible, especially the quality of it. Basic interior is bad as it is, but with extreme negative quality things go from bad to worse. Then again, in this challenge comfort wasnā€™t all that important. The most important thing is to have a car that can drive and preferably a cheap reliable one that lasts for a while (retains value). All other things help to make the car stand out more from those other economical budget cars.

Still think that even about 5500 dollars to build such a car would be too much for Africa. I mean I guess that would sell for maybe 7000 dollars if you would go for mass-production. Still a lot of money for the average African. At least shopkeepers should be able to afford it some countries (I hope).

Was I the only 2-door car?

Exactly in the place I expected to be, but feeling very happy that I managed to make a car do 301km/h within the rules we had

Ah, I forgot steel is not the way to go. Should have considered other options when trying to make the car a bit cheaper. Like removing the 3-way catalytic from that 2.6L beast of a motor. Or making the engine a little smaller. Still, Iā€™m happy with the results. At least now I know to keep an eye on that corrosion factor.

I think you may count this as a 2 door

bold and red to help

ā€¦I feel an unholy temptation to come up with a Hoon contest, now. High-value stats: engine noise, wheelspin (more = better!), 0-100, quarter-mile, cost-to-own. Low-value: driveability, sportiness, comfort, prestige, safety, reliability.

Glad you liked the looks! Honestly, if it sells decently in Africa, thatā€™ll probably be good enough to earn the Helvum a steady place in PAWā€™s model lineup - and now that I look at the stats more closely, I can see the American model displacing the Pteropus sedan as the brandā€™s primary family hauler.

BlastersPewPew, Shaded009 and HighOctaneLove also had 2 door cars.

Here is the Mitsushita Jesta Africa 2.0 AWD.

Almost made it!
