Standard

First introduced in the 1970’s, the current generation Pajaro Everest was introduced to the market in 2013. After its launch, two petrol engines were available; a 2.0 I4 and a 2.6 V6. The following year, a 2.8 V6 and a third trim option were introduced in some markets.

The base Standard model features a two-seat DualCab design, steel wheels and the 2.0 I4. It makes 130hp and 177Nm of Torque.

Adventure

A step up from the Standard is the Adventure model. It now features the five-seat CrewCab design and the 2.6 V6, which makes 263hp and allows it to reach 100km/h in 7.5 seconds.

The payload capacity for the Adventure is 1380kg.

Invincible

Made available in 2014, the top of the line version is the Invincible trim, available in some markets with a 2.8 V6. Standard features include alloy wheels, a bigger infotainment screen and a 7-speed Dual Clutch automatic.

The Beast

“The Beast” was a one-off concept version, intended to be shown-off at the 2017 New York Auto Show. It had the 2.6 V6 and many offroading improvements. Sadly, the only “Beast” that was made burned down in a warehouse fire, two weeks before the show.

No doubt the Everest line would sell well in Australia, where dual-cab trucks have fully taken over from car-based utes in the utility sector, but it certainly looks like there’s room for a proper muscle truck in the range, probably with a V8 instead of a V6 (or a twin-turbo version of said V6). That would only make the Everest name even more appropriate. And the trim name I would allocate to this high-performance trim would be… SuperBeast. Especially since The Beast deserves to rise from the ashes… But the upmarket Invincible looks as if it’s not afraid of any other truck on the market today.

I’ll definitely keep the V8 in mind when it’s gonna get a facelift!
