It’s a really nice body, the wheel arches size are very good. Easy to make a car with wide enough wheels but not too “tuner”. But I do still think that, like your 80’s family car. It’s much too wide for what it should be. Fiat 124 was only 1.625m wide, Lada 2107 was only 1.617m wide, Datsun 510 was only 1.560m wide, but that’s a Japanese car so they taxed them on how wide they are. Apparently your body is 1.8m wide, which in my opinion is much wider than it should be.
In the same way, your 80’s body is 2m wide, which is much too wide considering the car I use it as for many time, the Opel Omega A. That car actually was a one size bigger car than your 80’s family car (E-Segment instead of D-Segment, which is what I think you intended the family body to be), was only 1.772m wide!
As far as I know, the length of side mirrors aren’t normally included in measuring vehicle dimensions. I’m sure Automation does include mirrors and other extruding bits. Thus most bodies’ width appears to be about 10-30 cm wider than the official width.
That said, I actually agree with you. It does look a wee bit wide compared to the actual Fiat 124/Lada. Looking at the car size dimensions in Automation (which I actually never payed attention to before) it appears the height is only 1.1 m as opposed to 1.4 m which the real world car has! I’m not sure if Automation counts ground clearance when calculating the height of cars.
Also, the blueprints I used didn’t line up exactly perfectly, so that may also have caused some deviation.
As for the 1980s family car, I initially based its dimensions loosely on the Opel Rekord E (roughly the same size as the Omega), which is indeed an E-segment car, then made the body and wheelbase slightly shorter to achieve some sort of compromise between the European D-segment and American mid size car. I forgot about the width, so it really is a bit too wide for what it is!
Thanks! I’ also have plans for a wagon version and one with modernized bumpers as well. When I get to them, I’ll look over the proportions again and might make some adjustments. I’ll also fix the nose bug trackpaduser pointed out earlier.
Sorry for coming late, but I like your body, please do a convertible variant, because we need more convertible body styles. For the Wagon variant, please make it morphable like a Hatchback.
Both valid suggestions. Taken into consideration. There could definitely be more convertibles in game.
If I had an other very minor thing to suggest.
I would suggest changing the MinZ limit to the “REARSEDAN” bone to give a bit more range.
I did some testing and it seems to work quite well at -100.
Tried it out and you’re right! Now it can be used to make some nice Fiat 128-like rear ends.
First, Cool body, awesome job…still the second best sold car in the world in a strange way. If you count the SEATS, LADA’s and all others all together.
The 90s sedan/coupe is now finished, but there are a couple bugs that need sorted out before I can release it.
In the meanwhile I tried making some old Russian/Italian steel:

Euuuh, something in me wants this bumperless version…BAD
It doesn’t really matter if you put it in the large or small folder.
Edit: I checked the car, I have to say that it looks very nice
Only suggestion I would make is to add a 2 seat option, as it is a coupe.
Also you should add filtering tags to your cars, just add the following lines to your lua files:
–List of body type tags, choices are, “SEDAN”, “WAGON”, “HATCH”, “COUPE”, “SUV”, “UTE”, “MPV”, “VAN”,
–You can have as many as you want, just don’t forget the commas!
Tags = { “COUPE”, },
This car looks nice!, but the mirrors are missing. I have a question: Is your 90s Sedan Body fixed a bug? if fixed, please release it, because we need more 90s Sedans.
My Suggestions: Modernized Bumpers with Larger Mirrors and the Plastic Trim Version (80s revision), as well as Convertible and Hatchback Versions.
I’ll upload a revised version soon after I fix said issues. I’ll see if I can turn it into a decent looking convertible and a hatchback, both would be cool additions. A version with more modern bumpers might also be a good idea, should make the body suitable for 1980s and early 90s as well.
About the 90s sedan, it’s actually sort of ready and usable in game, as well as its coupe version. There is a stamping issue with it, though. When stamping a grille or a vent over the seams, parts of the seam start acting up near the edges of the fixture.
All the materials are assigned correctly in the .lua file. The culprit may be in the UV mapping/unwrapping, but I’ve tried redoing it several times with no success.
Haven’t observed anything like this with other bodies, be them vanilla or mods; so I know I must be doing something wrong.
There’s also a slight issue with front wheels offsetting strangely when finishing the chassis part (but only after having morphed the body in a certain way before), but I figure that’s not such a big issue.
