PIF Design Challenge [Yellow Group Thread]

Aright, getting on this. I don’t have much time though…

Sorry, I was too distracted with my other contest on here. Utility was the only thing you struggled with initially, and it was actually a pretty easy challenge, so I have no doubt you passed it.

Well, what does he mean by “not-DB5 body”?

I’m guessing the 50’s 2-door coupe body. But I’ll let him clarify.

Yep, it’s that one, sorry for being a little vague.

I can’t seem to get a powerful engine enough to accelerate the car to 100km/h in less than 7 secs, which is also economic enough or reliable enough. Help please?

Have you tried fitting wider tires? If they’re too narrow you’ll get wheelspin of the line. Also, have you played around with different engine configurations/tech? There is one certain, very helpful piece of technology that gets unlocked that very year nudge nudge wink wink

So, I failed to find the solution to the power-and-economy problem, and the time is running out. I give up.

The challenge then falls to EnryGT5

EnryGTS’ challenge: The Ultimate Troll!

The Haruna Downhill track, included in the Community Track Pack is required.

Apparently, your company wants to build an small car that goes fast, but doesn’t look like it will do so. So, you decided to make a kei pickup that goes fast around corners. The problem is, there are no courses twisty enough to make the car seem fast. However, you found a solution; Closed mountain passes! The problem with that is, there are no mountain passes that you could do a time attack on legally… until someone in your company actually managed to convince people to turn the Haruna pass into a time attack course just for your company. Now, build the ultimate troll car!

Rules:
[ul]
]The only body allowed is the 90’s mini-truck body/:m]
]Engine capacity must be 660cc or less/:m]
]Drivability must be 50 or more/:m]
]Comfort must be 25 or more/:m]
]Safety must be 30 or more/:m]
]The total cost must be 11000.00 or less/:m]
]Economy must be under 6.00 lt/:m]
]Haruna Downhill time must be under 5:00/:m][/ul]

Good luck! This should be easy IMO, but don’t know exactly.

That seems, like, right up Seishido’s alley. I thought they based their office in Gunma specifically to be near My Haruna xD

Oh yeah! I’m going to love doing this! Are we limited to 64HP? I could make that work… maybe…

You aren’t, as you’re releasing the “complete” (with the engine not limited to 64PS) car from your in-house tuning company, which isn’t restricted by the gentleman’s agreement.

Noice, i can haz moar booscht, the Teiko EGT is going to set Haruna on fire, or blow it’s own engine up.

Sir, it appears i won. Since you didn’t specify a year, i made it uber difficult by setting it in 1995, and using a ladder chassis. Yeah, i know i’m fantastic.

Confirmed.

You are an average broke as fuck teenager who just bought an old clunker Pontiac 6000 after watching The Fast and the Furious, expecting to find a burnout-tastic RWD V8 monster for impressing your mates, but, actually being ignorant on cars, you overpaid a stupidly slow FWD POS. It’s really damaged, it’s barely able to get to 90MPH, because the previous owner had swapped in an even crappier GM 122 1.8 that once made 88hp, but the years nerfed it to 70-something. As soon as you hit the drag strip against an old Chrysler minivan, you get horribly smoked, it clocked a 17.5, you reached the finish line in 21.6, scraping your rear all over the place. You got to do something about this. You don’t have much money though, so it’s going to be tough…

Get a quarter mile time of under 17 seconds. Smoke that van bro.

This should be really easy.

Questions:

Rule to only decrease quality is a global thing, or just for chassis?

What parts of then engine, aside from turbo, CAN I change?

Also hnnng, 17 second quarter mile… That’s like my civic level slowness… Oh, my heart…

  1. Global
  2. You can modify everything else, except the engine family stuff

Ok, done. I call this the “who needs brakes and nice seats and a radio anyway!?” edition. With an optimised turbo (and not much else changed apart from a bigger carb) and engine tuned to guzzle gas like a G.O.P funded top fuel dragster (okay, I exaggerate), it now pushes out a much healthier 150hp, and, combined with a better tyre material (but still old and crusty), the car now finally pips the van to the post. Also, it got a really flimsy, rusty rollcage, but a rollcage is a rollcage for TRACK DAY BRO.
