I would use actual weight instead of minimum weight, otherwise it means you HAVE TO go for a 1200kg 300bhp car to be competitive (so, less variance between the submitted cars)
Also, I would go for a displacement limit instead of hp limit; hp limit means you have to go for low-rpm torque to be slightly faster, which isn’t really what a race engine should be.
For the cost limit, $50k (I assume that’s total cost, not estimated market price) is too much, the cars from BRC are $5-7k in the current stable and you could go quite high on quality sliders.
Ooh, that’s probably one of the first things you should mention if you’re going to make a contest: mods or not, and how flexible you are to change this. Are you running standalone?
I mean, most of us who use Steam can probably simply click the option to disable the Steam mods, and that’ll solve most of the issue, but it’ll also suck out a lot of the enjoyment from building cars, because most of our visual content actually depends on the really good mods.
No mods is good for me, as I’m the kind of person that really doesn’t like dealing with mods - but if most people want visual mods (that don’t affect competitveness too much) its to consider.
Ok so your best bet is to download the HQE pack and stipulate to use this only. My computer is ancient and I have all the steam mods each only takes about 15sec to download and install. If you are going to host challenges I highly recommend downloading all the steam mods it makes life so much easier
Is maximum cost the total cost in overview tab or estimated price in market tab? I’d recommend estimated price as the total cost doesn’t include cost of the engine.
I will say “Average Market Price”…at least for the first season. IRL Rally cars cost upward of $100k so giving a market price of $50k to play with sounds reasonable. Things are getting waaaaay to complicated
No fuel requirement…not unless people see a need for it.
Welcome to holding a challenge lol. I highly suggest exporting your cars to another folder, as when entries start coming in its much easier if your cars are not mixed with comp cars. (I really wish I could have two Automation games one for challenges and one for my factory cars).
You need to specify a year yet I’m guessing 2016?[quote=“Ka1idor, post:43, topic:16466”]
slider must remain at 0%.

what exactly do you mean here? is this est sale price + 0% in est tab
50k is good 100k would be a very very expensive car on Automation
One last thing then i’l stop busting your chops…launch control (i feel if we are replicating modern rally cars this should be mandatory)
Yes, I meant the Price Modifier has to stay at (+0).
Vehicles must be constructed between 2000-2016…like modern rallies you still get a few old vehicles competing and sixteen years gives plenty of scope I hope.
Launch Control is now Mandatory.
Thanks to everybody who offered advice…hopefully the rules (of which there are many) will make for a fair and fun competition when the time comes.
Just brainstorming the scoring system…will post when I’m done
