2007 GCX Reflection 2.0 Redemption
This is the result of a full clone (engine variant + car model), if only because there was so much that was wrong with the donor car:
The donor car also had regular, untreated steel bodywork instead of partial aluminum construction, which would’ve saved weight and added environmental resistance.
So, after a little fiddling with the new car model and engine family, I ended up with this:
Now with partial aluminum panels, a helical AWD system with a helical front and rear diff (made possible with a multilink rear end in place of the semi-independent torsion beam), and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 225mm high-performance tires, the Reflection’s Redemption has finally arrived. The engine is now a port-injected 4v unit with a heavy alu/silicon block and an aluminum head, developing 225 horsepower thanks to a twin-scroll turbocharger blowing 0.6bar into the combustion chambers, while still requiring only regular 91 RON/87 AKI unleaded. A close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, sport-tuned suspension (with progressive-rate springs and monotube dampers), variable-ratio hydraulic power steering, and 4-wheel ABS-assisted vented disc brakes (13-inch 2-piston front rotors/12-inch 1-piston rear rotors) complete the package. However, with an advanced set of safety gear and a mid-range standard stereo sound system incorporating a CD player (with sat-nav being optional), it’s also an adept daily driver in addition to being a willing partner on a winding road or at the track.
