But wait. While I might have missed making an ad, I’m pretty sure I sent it via discord though.
Well anyway, I am cm away short of the rules. So fair enough. But may I ask how would my car have competed had I not been binned?

I checked my discord PM log, and didn’t see anything other than the file sent.
And while the fuel efficiency of the car was great, eventually it would’ve fallen short in other things due to it’s small size.
aaaaw.
i tried to hard to make my carbs compete to be as good as the fuel injected cars
It’s next week. I need some time to work on the prize cars and a CSC project.
Comparing the stats themselves shouldn’t take too long though, so I should be able to have the rounds out fairly quickly by then.
I’ll (probably) have time to dedicate to a real attempt then if we’re getting round 2 next week.
Round 2 as in, the 2nd part of this challenge. It will be a while before I host the next QDC.
Hopefully my cost constrained attempt at high tech engineering will pay off in the engineering round… I cant Wait!
The second round will be focusing on how well the vehicles perform mechanically and statistically, once all cars have gone around the track, the cars will be ranked and a winner will be picked.
Since this is the first time ever for me to judge something based on engineering stats, I’d like some feedback on how to make things more fair and efficient. I used a rather crude Report card grading system for this that lumps a whole bunch of numbers together, because going through all 43 cars individually was a bit more than I could handle.
Friday morning, somewhere in Fruinia…
Liane and Devlin were on their way to a race track known as the “Green Hell”. It was one of the longest, most treacherous tracks in the world. And would be the site for testing the performance of the 35 vehicles they had selected. They had performed all kinds of tests with the vehicles earlier this week, Including braking, acceleration, and fuel economy tests, after these tests, they’d finally make their verdict on which car was most suited for the gallian commuter car market.
Devlin was behind the wheel, Liane had fallen asleep as they crossed the Gallia-Fruinia border, she’d been working late into the night, ranking all the test vehicles accordingly. They were still a few hours away from their destination. Orange sodium vapor lamps lit the road ahead of them, shining with an orange glow. There were a few cars on the road, but they were still ahead of the morning rush hour.
The radio was playing the instrumental version of Mr. Master’s " Dog In The Night", but it didn’t seem to bother Liane. After an hour, Devlin turned off the highway, and drove across a small two-lane country road.
“Wake up, we’re almost there.”
Liane opened her eyes and saw glimpses of the race track inbetween the trees. By now the sun was up and Devlin turned off the headlights on the YAZ.
“I hope they have some good coffee because I could definitely use some right about now.”
“I’m surprised you managed to get any sleep at all, this car isn’t super comfortable.”
“Eh, it’s more comfortable than my Trend, Larger as well. What’s the weather forecast?”
“Cold, but we should have clear skies throughout the day.”
Devlin turned onto the Parking Lot of the Entrance. Cars filled one side of the lot, and a large party tent was set up to accommodate manufacturer reps, Photographers, and A&M staff.
“Look, most of the reps have gathered in that tent over there. The cars are parked next to it.”
Devlin parked the YAZ right next to the first car they’d be testing. The Maler 28D 1900C.
“Alright, let’s get something to drink first, then head out. Are you sure you’re awake enough to get behind the wheel?”
“Oh yeah, just need to get some coffee and then I should be ready to go.”
Devlin and Liane got out of the car, one of the track marshalls walked out of the tent and handed them some paperwork, as well as a thermos filled with Coffee.
“That’s the stuff, thank you. Alright, so how are we going to do this?” Liane took a sip from the Thermos and filled in the papers.
“We’ll be taking the cars out one at a time. One drives while the other writes down sector times and speeds.”
Devlin went to the party tent and got the Driving gear and helmets.
“Here, take these and put them on, we’ll be driving over twenty cars today, so it’s best to be safe, as we don’t know how they’ll handle when pushed to the limit. You’ve driven on tracks before right?”
“Yes, I’ve done some Tourist driving around this track, as well as Karting. Do you want some coffee as well? It’s not bad.”
“Nah I’m fine, Do you want to drive or…?” :
“Yeah you go, I’ll write down the first one, then we’ll swap.” Liane put on the gloves and helmet and brought her notepad and stopwatch with her. She handed the thermos back to the marshall, who said they can go on track at 8:00 AM sharp.
Devlin started up the Maler and they went to the entrance of the track…
Grading System Explanation:
Since this is my first ever challenge, and since I’m a design-oriented player, I’m not quite sure yet on how to judge the mechanical side of a vehicle, so I will be using a grading system that looks at the stats of the cars objectively. Along with some pros and cons.Depending on how good/bad the stat is, it will be ranked a grade (A, B, C, D, F, with A being the best and F being the worst) This might not be the most effective system, but Unfortunately, I can’t come up with a better system. I might have to think about co-hosting the next round with someone who can judge engineering better than I can.
You will be awarded points for each grade, If the stat is important, it will get you comparatively more points.

“Ok, it’s time for a break, we’ve been driving for over 4 hours.” Devlin pointed at his digital watch.
“Yeah, I’ll drive into the pit entrance and park it somewhere. Then we can eat some lunch and rest for a few hours.”
“Good Idea, we’ll continue afterward, Drive around the track once more and then box the Earl.”
Liane drove another lap around the track before finally entering the pit lane…
Current standings will be posted in a seperate post, I am close to the 32,000 character limit.
erm, quotex STANDARD interior? I Think not. Im pretty sure i whacked in a Premium Finish Interior on The Plucky Little Enigma. To find a road car that came out of my byzantine and anarchic mind that has standard interior would be a fairly difficult thing to do indeed. Standard interior indeed…
Fixed, but the rating remains the same, as that was the one thing that I didnt forget to double check before releasing it after working on it for rhe entire day…
And i’m not your “cream cracker”.
Is this challenge still acive?
Yes, but it’s the holiday season so I don’t have time to work on it right now.
I will probably continue with part 2 starting in January.
Yo, is this forum dead?
Did you check the title where it says Will return 14th January ?
OK,OK got it ya trying to be mean? I didn’t check…
Quotex’ Design Challenge - Round 1 - “Back to basics” [Will Return…]
Read the title…
We don’t know when - all we can (or have to) do is wait. But at least I’m proud of my submission qualifying for testing on the Green Hell purely on merit.
it’s been 6 months
are we still doing this?
Due to the new game engine, no. Quotex said on discord that it won’t go ahead, but he may be doing something to say sorry - in effect.
