Saminda Motor Co - 1 Million RE Series 1.5 Turbo Engines Recalled Due to Overheating Risk

That is awesome , i am pretty excited about this.

So if the new sport car is a replacement for Auxuras Arrow , it would be based on the DRV?

fyeah.

This is probably a secret plot by Saminda to sabotage Maesima’s ignition systems

let’s just hope that Maesima is the one that does all the electronic components and drivetrains

What kind of power figures are we talking here?

More news coming up on Maesima thread soon!

Saminda and Maesima co-oping to create a sports car?
Am I the only one who thinks that won’t end good with Maesima’s performance and Saminda’s proneness to selfdestruct?

Well, given it can go spectacularly well or spectacularly badly, what you should be doing is breaking out the popcorn!

(Seriously, if real life Mazda and Honda combined to make a sports car, I would be very interested in the outcome.)

MX5 with VTEC?

But yeah, I think that would come up with superior performance, but also superior unreliability

It would have no torque and eats seals.

Where’s this unreliability business coming from? At least the Hondas and Mazdas that get sold in Australia don’t have any issues, in fact, they’re right up the top end for consumer confidence over here.

Unless you’re talking about Saminda’s issues, well, that’s a different story

@Deskyx Also not sure where the no torque comes from, unless you’re talking compared to oversized V8s. Well, ok, the MX-5 concept is about chassis over power and Honda’s had several misfires on the “underpowered sporty car” front, but my impression of their current directions is that they’ve got the tech to deliver something snappy.

Although what, well… I guess we’re a long way out from the likes of the S2000. Honda now does a pretty good turbo (see: Type R), and Mazda’s doing some weird voodoo shit with their SkyActive NA tech. But you can’t combine the two since a turbo would preclude the whole 4-2-1 manifold thing.

Well now that Ford is dead in Aus (may they R.I.P) I will only buy mazda. My family has a few 3’s and bt50’s and we have had the BEST service not just from where we buy from but the entire package and aftermarket service and reliabilty. Hmmmm pity I dont fit in a mx5…and im not a big dude

From the RX-8 and S2000.

I love both to the death anyway.

oh right I thought you were getting it from, like, the CR-Z, because yes, that thing has no torque :joy: I still can’t get over how shitty its performance is, oh Honda, what did you do…

@Darkshine5 I’m genuinely curious how you find the BT50 compared to say, the Hilux, Falcon ute, Commodore ute, and others. I always found it a bit hard to take Mazda seriously in the utility segment but I never use them so I wouldn’t have a clue.

Also god damn even the MX-5 B was a tight fit for me and I’m merely the statistical average for males. And there was also the time I accidentally shut the door on my knee and crushed it on the steering wheel… not my finest moment…

Reading that I think that it’s good that I never dreamed about MX-5, because it seems I wouldn’t fit in it for sure  They should have thought about the fact that people outside Japan might be a bit bigger…

Love the bt50 for what we need them for ie very steep inclines and declines and carrying hay. Bt50= ford ranger. Same chassis, engine and driveline just a different front end and interior. I prefer the Ranger only because A-ford lol and B-i think the ford looks better.

and mx5 plus under average size Aussie ( i am 5,10" and 70kg’s) equals pain. I think thats where the whole hairdresser thing comes from cause “normal” sized dudes just cant fit. I drove a hardtop for a couple of days when i was waiting on delivery of my new sprint since I had never had the chance to drive one before.(awesome service the car was 4 days late so the local dealer gave me the choice of any of the demo cars while i waited)
my verdict on the mx5 was that it would make a great track car with abit of work but as for a sporty street car sprry i would still take an r32gts4 or even an old rx3/7 (with a small block ford of coarse) as they feel lile spprts cars to me.

Edit. Falcon/commodore utes are well they are shit for any proper work. I know the holdens have a very low tray capacity and really the only good utes were the ford BA rtv’s they were really good for offroad and had the better electronic diff raised suspension bigger ford territory brakes and dare I say it the 3valve version of the boss 260 aka the triton 5.4 v8 with a much flatter torque curve and more down low torque
wow what a rant
