We always like competitors , it can make us improve !
Maybe Maesima needs to invest into this racing series!
It’s not a need , it’s a must !
(although Super GT cost a lot of money for us manufacturer , but it’s a good way to test our technology , the new 2.0-liter engine for the GT500 is totally a new thing for us , we do have some engine failures during some races but it’s a good way to improve ourself during this period)
Every failure is a step to being sucessful - Kuro Saminda , Founder of Saminda.
Both race cars are amazing machines. The previous Super GT entry feels like a muscle car, with its RWD V8, but its replacement is more like an Exige on steroids, with its generic-sounding but still potent turbo four.
Sadly no V8 or RWD in a production car , if Saminda is to make a V8 engine , can’t deny that it will be a sweet V8 when we look at how the SRD500 sounds and the power it can make.
Super GT rules from 2014 onward require use of 2 liter inline 4s, hence why my entry uses a similar powerplant.
And I assure you that I4 packs way more punch than he says it does.
Is there an actual Super GT event on the forums?
Nah, but the rulebook is clear enough. Both of our cars conform it as much as possible.
Not that I would join if there was one. Competitions are not my thing. Now to redesign mine. WTF was I thinking with making a race car look dull.
Do you have link to the rulebook? I’m having trouble finding a complete set of rules for it
Strange, couldn’t find it now when I could easily a few days ago. But IIRC important rules are:
Engine must be:
86mm bore +/- 2mm
2 liter
Turbocharged
Output 500 hp +
Aluminum alloy block and heads
4 valves
No VVT/VVL
Chassis must be:
335mm max front section tires, 355mm rear section tires
Brakes 350mm max front, 335mm max rear
Engine must be longitudinally mounted
Car minimal weight is 1020 kg
No active aero
No active suspension
No automatic (use sequential instead) gearboxes
Headlights and taillights must be unaltered from stock car
My entry in my thread has some pretty detailed component data, all are built to the regulations of the rulebook I found some time earlier. Kindly check it if you wish.
#Saminda Recalls About 2.6 Million Vehicles for Ignition and Engine Oil Leakage
A Saminda logo shown during Bangkok Auto Show
Saminda has announced another recall , this time for both defective ignition and engine oil leaks.
This recall affects about 2.6 million vehicles globally. Though the engine oil leaks problems affect about 1.26 million vehicles internationally for possible cracks in the engine gaskets , another 1.34 million have potentially defective ignition that can switch off everything in the car and can lose control.
Currently, there are at least four class action lawsuits filed against Saminda
One of the world largest engine maker keep having faulty engine problems , onces a name have a reputation , it tend to slack off.
Goodluck Saminda , you have a big mess to clear and i believe Saminda will be on the bottom of the reliability survey since it dominate the top for so long.
Despite two major recalls, I still hold out hope for this beleaguered Japanese brand. However, a permanent major improvement in quality control standards will most likely be the only way to make these horror stories a thing of the past.
Good ol’ Saminda. Keep on British Leylanding.
