Can we use the Experimental branch?(I always use experimental when I can) And can we use a premium interior/Sound system if we can afford it?

I don’t mean a top level system, just a premium or standard system, possibly with a minor uptick on the quality slider (+3 at most) while still remaining in budget.

This challenge is running on the stable Ellisbury build. My understanding is that there are still a number of glitches on the Al Rima open alpha that need to be worked out, and there’s not compatibility between Al Rima and Ellisbury. You can revert back and forth between versions, I believe, but will need to download the version you’re using each time.

You are free to choose whatever sound system you want; if you are going to put in a premium sound system, for the sake of the subjective final round judging, you would just want to make sure it’s consistent with the overall build. For example, in a real car going for a “premium” feel with a premium sounds system, it would probably have at least a standard interior and good safety features.

For comparison, I went with a basic infotainment system, not a standard one, seeing that I was creating a cheap, low-end trim for all markets.

Also, I created another trim with a normally aspirated and port-injected version of the same engine hooked up to a 6-speed manual gearbox instead of a CVT - losing 70bhp but also costing $1000 less. It obviously doesn’t provide as much drivability or comfort as the trim I submitted, though; on the other hand, it’s even more reliable.

Will this be judged in Automation or Beam.NG? Because if it will be judged in Beam.NG I don’t want to go back to main branch since I already have a good amount of data in ellisbury, when I can just export the car and have it work for both of us.

Also, what about convertibles? I’ve made a couple of small eco-sport convertibles that have come out pretty good. (i’d post images if I was at my PC rn, but I’m not :P) Would those be acceptable?

Please keep in mind, I am 100% new to this competition and rules thing so please bare with me.

No worries about the questions; I know it can be kind if intimidating doing your first challenge, and I want this challenge to be accessible for folks like yourself who are new to this.

Judging will be entirely in Automation, which is typically assumed in these forum challenges unless the rules say otherwise.

You’re welcome to enter a convertible, although I am not sure it will really help your scoring.

The general assumption about rules in these challenges is that whatever is not specifically forbidden/required by the rules is allowed. I might add that to the new participant FAQs since it might help folks like yourself to know.

I certainly understand if you have too much invested in Al Rima to want to revert back to Ellisbury for a challenge. That said, I don’t know if there are any challenges running or even planned in Al Rima right now, so it might be some time before you’ll be able to enter challenges if you want to stick with Al Rima.

Dang it. Experimental branch is both a blessing and a Curse. I both want try try a competition because I feel I could excel at this one, but all my favorite fixtures as of late (ones that are an actual game changer for me) are Al Rilma only and I risk screwing up both my Al Rilma and converted Ellisbury data by going back. I may be brand new to the forums but I have had both Automation and Beam.ng for YEARS. (Long enough to have made almost 100 cars in 4.24 before 4.27 was released at all)

Oh, I did find a completion (The Chassis Design competition) for both Ellisbury And Al Rilma Branches, if you were curious. But that is WAY over my head. I focus more on styling and performance for fun in Beam.ng than unadulterated realism.
