@strop I was wasn’t I - Although I really really hate that advertising slogan - what pretentious b0ll0x, thankfully we don’t have it in the UK.
@Darkshine5 Nice one, lets hope he’s still got some sense and it’s not a case of too much too soon
I vote for the Cobra as it’s the perfect weekend toy.
I think though that you should wait until you get there and see what the local cops are like as the french police system is far more punitive than even the Aussie one! As in like being fined massive on-the-spot cash fines and being left in the middle of no-where when they tow your car… In that case I suggest you get an MX-5 and bank the cash for when you are finished in the armed forces.
Best of luck whichever way you choose!
That being said the French police seem very permissive of driving above the speed limit as while regardless of the posted speed limit on the freeway, everybody tends to do 160-180 anyway IIRC
well I am home for 3 weeks at a time and the autobahn is not that far away this will be my second stay in France so I know what the rozza’s are like…trust me they are better than Bali police officers or worst yet…Russian. But I’m a grandpa driver I learnt at a very young age that you don’t fuck around on the streets when track days are so cheap…that being said there is always that moment when someone in a WRX or M3 that asks for it at the lights…As for the guy that bought the XR8 he is a miners kid and had his parents pay half he picked the car up today and it was soo hard to give over the title and keys, but theres no point in keeping a car I cant drive
50K buys alot of car. Considered something like a 4.2 R8 or gen 1 Gallardo
So just an update i am in Brisbane today test driving cars. So far I have driven a Porsche panamera turbo, which I did not like at all. It feels very heavy (worse than a falcon) and nothing came easily to hand inside along with a boring exhaust note and average acceleration (again compared to my old falcon).
A BMW 4 series and a 5 series which just didn’t inspire any feelings in me at all…nice cars inside nice to drive but just a little boring.
I am about to drop by Alfa Romeo and test drive a giulietta…but the car I really am looking forward to driving is the Giulia Quadrifoglio that only Arrived at the dealer yesterday…I feel kinda bad testing these cars down under with no intent to purchase one in Australia
I loved my Giulietta, until I drove a Giulia. They are a world apart from each other.
I would not feel bad about the test drives, you’re not the 1st and wont be the last. It’s part of their world, some folk are interest, some are not. You just happen to be “one who’s not”
Screw all that New shit and get a Lancia Thema 8.32, the only 4-door car with a Ferrari V8 and a manual transmission. Well within the budget and you basically get a Saab 9000 with better suspension, sound, nice leather and average performance.
True. But fuck me sideways the giulia is good… I mean mind blowing good. Sounds awesome, has just enough turbo lag to give a hard push and let you know its a turbo, fit and finish was good, 8sp auto was ok, interior is heads and shoulders better than the Porsche, 500hp from the 2.9 v6 feels almost too much but its the right kind of power…she snarls and spits and pushes you to rev higher and higher. Its a proper drivers car…hands down best four door i have ever driven…and will be my first v6 my first turbo car and my first italian car
You have hit the nail on the head there… I cannot help but agree.
