Solstice Performance - "Hypernova"

I have just created a car kind of like yours. You can check out my company thread here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=5347&p=56492#p56492

Oh, you didn’t think we were gone now, did you?

He’s Back! :astonished: :astonished:

I want to put that in my magazine!

Do whatever, I don’t mind. The car will be debut tomorrow and it surely won’t disappoint.

Ever since Solstice was bought by the Volkswagen Group in the 80’s, we have churned out nothing but performance and luxury cars and we want this to change for the 2016 model year.
Introducing the 2016 Solstice Pulse.

The Solstice Pulse is a 4 door, 5 seat family car like no other. It delivers that authentic Solstice feel; power, prestige, good looks, all for an incredibly low price. Everything in this car is brand new, too. Everything from the bonnet design all the way to the compact 4 cylinder engine. Speaking of which, let’s go over the engine.
Contrary to what you might have expected, the new engine is a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder that has quite an insane amount of power. The block is made out of aluminium, and the cylinder heads are made out of an AlSi compound metal. The engine utilises a brand new DOHC system and the fuel is fed to this monster through a Direct Injection fuel system, but this is not the reason for the insane power. The reason for the power is because of the huge turbo on the side which runs generates a metric fuckload of boost, additionally, the engine is able to produce upwards of 400 horsepower by making it run a richer fuel mixture and by changing the compression, but doing so will obviously lower the fuel economy. The engine is connected to a standard 6 speed RWD manual gearbox, however a 6 speed sequential is available at extra cost. Now, onto the car itself.
The Pulse features a lot of unique styling cues, such as the new headlights and indicators and the new vents on the bonnet, and it actually takes a few styling cues from the Solstice Buxton, our high-end luxury sedan. The Pulse is supposed to appeal to everyone, regardless of age, gender or taste. The Pulse has something for everyone. If you prefer a more luxury oriented car, you can opt for the fully leather interior with wood trims. Or perhaps if your car to have a sportier feel, you can could perhaps opt for a pair of cloth bucket seats in the front and carbon trimmed panels, or black rims etc. Cloth interior comes in 3 colours; black, gray and beige. Likewise, leather interior also comes in 3 colours; black, white and red, however the options don’t end there. Alloy wheels are standard and various types are available in either metallic silver or black, specific shades will come at extra cost. On the outside you will be able to modify the car exactly to your taste, you can remove all badging on the front and rear and you can choose whether you would like fog lamps or not (in countries that allow it). The price for the base model will probably be around $19000, but it is still subject to change. The car is set to go on sale around November-December 2015.
Anyway enough of me explaining things about the car, let’s let the car do the talking for itself.
(I decided to use a black car, as it makes the chrome bits stand out more)

The 2016 Pulse is great looking car.Awesome face and side.IMO there should be a 6cyl version too .

I’ll think about it, putting an I6 in it would make it a direct competitor to a lot of the cars coming out of Germany.

I decided to give the Buxton a bit of a touch-up. Obviously since I designed this car a couple of months ago, my tastes may have changed and ultimately the way I design cars has changed, please tell me what you think of the redesign and what I could improve on (when the car is white, the rear end looks a bit overcrowded with fixtures and vents in my opinion, but I’d like to hear what you think). Here is the facelifted version vs the old version (in that order):

I think Solstice Motors is dead… :frowning:

The vast majority of companies that were active last year aren’t posting new designs right now, due to a) ongoing problems with saving b) upcoming further balance changes with some adjustments to mechanics that will accompany the next major update.

So he might start posting more cars soon?

I quit when the Steam release came out. I played it for a while and the change was kind of just… too much. What pissed me off the most was the saving and the “families and variants” thing.
The families and variants feature, in my opinion, is absolutely pointless. I preferred putting my car names (for example: Fleetwood '55) into that one box, it never caused me any trouble, I never lost a single car to the saving. But now, I haven’t been able to SAVE A SINGLE CAR since the update.
I just spent the last hour building a car for the company that I promised would come out in February this year. It was a beautiful car, not going to lie, and I was really proud of it, despite having limited mods. I took a deep breath and pressed the save button, heard the sound and then immediately clicked the quit button. Load up the model and what do I see?

A blank fucking car.

…And that’s when I just came to the forum to use the search function to see if there was a fix for this, whether I was doing something wrong or if it’s a known bug. I put “saving problem” into the search box and saw Strop’s comment here. Quite surprised to see people miss me, actually.
Anyway, unfortunately I’m not going to be playing much (if at all) until the saving is fixed, because to be honest it’s like a giant middle finger to the player. You put in all that work and just like that it’s gone…

It’s a known bug. I’ve had it happen to me multiple times. The only solution I found was to not press the save button, since that’s what seems to cause the problems. Let the game auto-save it and you should me good.

This fixed it for me

It autosaves? Mine has never autosaved.

I’m guessing a Rest In Peace is in order for Solstice Motors? Seems sad to see it go. :frowning:

Nope, just not making any new cars until further notice. Besides, I was supposed to be making a subdivision of Solstice so that will see new cars before Solstice does.

Sometimes for me you have to look at the save button very carefully. Sometimes the button will light up when you don’t even put your cursor over it. What I do to get that to stop is that I go back to where you can move the car body and move it a tiny bit and sometimes that solves my problem. But I don’t know if that will help you.

I have a Raptr recording of it. Raptr records your gameplay up until you quit the game so I have the whole session recorded.
When I click the save button you hear the sound clearly and it also records the heartbreaking moment when I discovered my car was gone :frowning:

What I can say, from the land of closed beta, is that the saving issue is thankfully on the way to being resolved. In addition, the model/trim thing makes a lot more sense once you start seeing value and desirability play out in tycoon mode, the mechanics of which we are currently testing. From a sandbox point of view it’s pointless, yes, but it’s reflective of tycoon gameplay.
