Sometimes they come back - Iso Rivolta back to life [REVIEWS OUT! (HOW?)]

I am working on something, just to put that out there.

Forgot to mention; I just saw this challenge resurface again, and am currently working on something as well. Maybe even one I can repurpose for another challenge…

Would love to make something for it, but big burnout right now :sob:

Fortunately, I do got at least a few ideas cooking for this one

With a legacy of building both city cars and sports cars, it’s only apt to start things off once more with a fusion of the two. And from that goal, the Iso Bestita Cup is a track machine in the garb of a city car, with 390 horsepower inline 3 to complement the handling and aerodynamics of this ready made racer.

Henlo, it’s me
am writing behind the PC correspondant of grandma’s car because I’ve managed to cook the hell out of my own PC thanks to rendering projects for my Architecture’s university course. ATM so I won’t be able to take a look at the very first subcriptions which came recently. It might take a week or two to be back on the road again, so I think there’s nothing to do if not let you have some more days as things are now…

REIGNITING THE PASSION

ISO RIVOLTA GTNA

Developed with the American vehicle manufacturer Fischer, the GTNA is made as a statement: Iso Rivolta is back, and they want everyone to know that. They have tamed Fischer’s 5L naturally aspirated V8 engine, providing 503 horsepowers and 615 Nm of torque, and built a grand tourer around it that aims to capture the joy and thrill of running and weaving on the streets at up to 349 kilometers an hour. Equipped with all-wheel drive, a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, and limited slip, the GTNA can theoretically go from a stand still to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.

The “NA” in “GTNA” stands for New Age, showing Iso Rivolta’s attempt to catch up to modern standards. Which means, of course, the GTNA isn’t all go, no show; both have to be as great. Inside you’ll find two heated and ventilated seats and another two little ones in the back, complete with air conditioning with air purifiers, storage space with wireless charging and USB ports, sensor-activated overhead lamps, and cup holders for both rows, capable of seating 4 people comfortably enough. You’ll also find leather upholstery with an accent of wood and ambient lighting, surround sound speakers, a semi-digital HUD, and a touchscreen interface along with button controls (looking at you, Mercedes). Also present are basic driving assists, such as a digital rearview mirror, lane watch, collision avoidance, and parking sensors. Like a thick, fluffy jacket, this interior engulfs you as you embark on journeys and accomplish great things with the GTNA.

REVIEWS AND RESULTS
BUT BEFORE BEGINNING...
I MUST address my apologies to everybody who showed interest and spent hours of its time in this competition I've decided to run and share with the Automation Forum, because more than 1 year of radio silence can't be justified easily. In the past year many things happened and I'm still trying to give this strange thing we call life a direction by picking up the pieces, with the hope of coming up with a puzzle that makes somehow sense. There's plenty of stuff I left back, unfinished, which makes me upset and angry, but the time machine is yet to be a thing.
Unless we can se how well a Balenciaga jacket fits on Pope Francis.
Anyway, in the monumental pile of things I'm tring to get back, there's the attempt of being somehow active in this community, splitting the time between the ending phase of my University course, my training internship and the lot.
So, first thing first, I'm sharing the judging part of the competition and proclaim the winner. I've structured the judging phase in two parts, first one being sort of a review in a "good ol' Top Gear days" way, and the second one being a more synthetic judge to sum up all the stuff. Just like in many car magazines or some videos. I hope my intentions won't be much far from the actual result...
AND NOW THE NEWS REVIEWS
Iso Rivolta Bestita Cup

I just don’t feel to call it ugly. Weird would be a better-fitting attribute. Sure thing,in the local rice car meet in the nearest underground park, with 1500 bpm music bursting out car audio system bigger than a BMW X7, this would be the #1 attraction. Trust me. The Bestita Cup catches your attention in every single, good or bad, way. Starting from a 5+ cm thick front splitter, hanged to the car’s body by two wires. Pure modern art. Two dive planes will assure that this blue Habanero hot chili pepper won’t take off. It would otherwise, because with 355 hp in a 3.4 metres long car riding a bear through a forest on fire is much more secure. Thank god they didn’t fit it with the same security devices a Groub B Lancia Delta had. Instead, all sort of mind-reading wizardries, driving assistants and beeping things will soften up the experience,a bit.

The only to focus on then, is to step the right foot down and start screaming from the terror as the Bestita reaches 100 kph in just 3"1 and it won’t stop until the 320 mark in 8th (!) gear. Handling wise, the large tires will make you feel like Max Versatppen high on angel dust, because only God knows how 15in tires and rear wheel drive keeps this psycho machine on the road. Must be again the beeping things.
Once you pull off from it, you hope that this sense of confusion, mixed feelings of scare, awe, joy, which this what driving a 990 kg rollacoaster is, will delicately fade out. Well, you’re wrong. Once you close the door, which seems to be taken from a 1990s Subaru, and walk 10 meters away, you’ll realise what sort of thing you’ve driven. The single rear lights stripe, the massive diffuser, the twin-exit exhaust and a way out of proportion wing makes you feel to be in the first series of The Simpsons: simply ridiculous, funny, somewhow briliant, but funnily weird-looking.

Now, to be serious just for a moment, you can well understang the intention here. In an era where hot hatches seems to die, where we can only rely on the Japanese to make reasonable things, the Bestita Cup is a middle finger to all the German business man seriousness, and every sense of measure. Again, you watch the fuel consumption data, and see a whopping 16.5 km a litre, how? This is out of this world, did I just drove a car made by David Lynch? Maybe that would be too much for an old Italian car brand born again from its ashes, or maybe not… Maybe there are too much comfort-focused Gt, too much SUVs, too much political correctness to understand the Bestita. Maybe we’re not ready for it, or we are but it’s just too far from the red line of insanity. Oh, did I mentioned? It’s $172.000

exterior
I see a bit of a genious in all this insanity. The weak side to me it's the rear, especially the tail lights choice: a much simpler led stripe or squares, just like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, would have done the job better.
tech-specs
There's nothing to say here. A 350+ hp car with 16 km/L of fuel consumption, and enough tech to be envied by a B-2 Spirit.
interiors
Were not required. Maybe a chair could be useful of you want to drive it
safety
You can experience F35 kind of G-forces and shit yourself to death on a racetrack, but without the fear of dying at any corner. Just like a very safe rollercoaster
price
Okay. It might be hard to explain $172.000 for an extreme hot hatch
Iso Rivolta GTNA

Back to the "How to a do proper GT" manual, page 1, chapter 1, you can clearly read that "In order to be sure that what you're looking at is a GT as it should be, you must find an 8 cylinder engine, in a V shaped configuration, under a long bonnet". Well, checked. "Also, you should find 4 seats, a short rear, and a mixed feeling of elegance and brutality which makes you desperately want to drive it". Mmmh, checked. So, without thinking too much, you press the button and fire up the naturally aspirated, 5 litres V8. In a world of turbocharged perfectness, you forget of how glorious is a V8 at 8000 rpm. In this crazy run for the meaninglessness of 1000 hp, you forget that 504 bhp are enough to launch this 5-star quality couch to 100 kilometers an hour in just 2"9. Classic dual clutch gearbox, 7 speed (and trust me, and don't need more), telepathic suspensions… What else would you desire?

In that yellow which resembles the Grifo 90 from 1991, could feel like vinegar on a fine piece of meat, but it isn't. The Italians are still lunatic, so the bold combination of wood, alluminium and brown leather in a Zebra yellow car strangely fits, or these are just the aftermaths of the Bestita experience. When it comes to the looks, the GTNA (NA may be standing for Naturally Aspirated) blands well elegance and sportiness, despite in some aspects, as the headlights, feels a bit dated. I know, the Pink Floyd concert at Earls Court in 1994 is old, but still awesome, so what's wrong with that? Well, I wouldn't argue with that, normally, but being this a new car, maybe just a white indicator could have done a lot. The two exhausts, centered, are the source of a symphony you don't want to stop. The Griffon in the GTNA is rised again for sure, and it roars as well!

Now, this is designed to be an Italian GT, so you'd expect that there's something wrong is here, something weird, then I'd say 'No, it's 2025, not 1978'. Well, not today. Because vented discs at the front and solid discs at the rear is what you'd find in a 1983 FIAT Uno turbo. Still, no fade and good stopping distance, as 420 mm of diameter all around is more than enough to stop a Boeing 747 full loaded. And be careful if your country has Afghanistan's road quality, beacuse bottom out will occour frequently. What I asking myself is, Is this enough to keeping me, you, and other members of a sadly rare species far from the GTNA? Is this what is needed to forget about the 8000 rpm 5 litres V8, the speed, the sense of being a privilged member of Iso Rivolta onwners club? I'm afraid not. And for less than $48.000 you can have a laugh at your friend, who just bough a Golf R for nearly 15k more.

exterior
A muscular yet elegant GT. The safest (maybe the rightest?) way to revive such a brand. Maybe those headlights don't belong to the 20s, but afterall they blend well with the rest
tech-specs
While in the Bestita you may not except all those latest wizardries, here the story's different. In a full size, high end Gran Turismo the stakes are high. And the GTNA does the job well. Some "curious" choices suspension wise, but I'll take that as part of the sane crazyness when it comes to Italian cars.
Oh, 5 litres naturally aspirated V8. I've said all
interiors
Despite not properly being requested for the challenge, they're done well, with care for shapes and materials
safety
In line with the current EU delusions which prevents us to buy a GR86
price
Insanely low for such a car. Sitting at less than 50k could have allowed you to play a bit more with the quality. But, after all, this give the GTNA incredible competitiveness.

Congrats for finishing the challenge. The theme itself was good, just the timeliness of it all wasn’t. Still, if you do ever host again you can only go up

Yeah, I got timings wrongs from the start, and then obviously real life decided to kick me hard…
I should have looked at the dense quantity of challenges already running and eventually started mine later on.
As this was not only my first challenge ever, but also my first signs of life in the forum I was so excited for the responses and interest shown that I didn’t thought people were already involved in other stuff and simply couldn’t manage to take part in multiple intriguing and demanding competitions.
Therefore I can’t feel 100% satisfied, but still, this gave me the possibiity to learn and to experiment
