Honda Accord used to get called the Honda Accordian by some of my friends. Way back in the day, around the early 2000’s, they had, well, not the greatest crash-test safety ratings. Had a friend in high school who crashed one, I think it was a 2001 or 2002 Accord, ended up with the dashboard pressing on his knees. Needless to say, we knew who it was in our group of friends who first called it the Accordian.
I simultaneously like the idea of a hot mini yet at the same time wonder what the point is. After all I can get better performance and better handling out of a Honda Civic 10th gen. I just get the feeling that there’s only so much can squeeze out of a mini box.
Yep, this is true, but in stock. My friend changed the suspensions to an full adjustable suspensions, and it powered the engine to 170Hp and 270Nm.
butbutbutbutbut. flat cornering… i’ve never seen anything short of a serious track car that could corner as flat as that mini irl.
I just want to relieve this burden from my mind.
Here is an UNSUITABLYnamed car
what in the flying fucking fuck is that fucking thing.
Toyota Mirai?
Mirai apparently is Japanese for “future”.
If this is the future, I’d rather end myself and have no future just to not see this thing again.
I saw one yesterday on a trailer, it was advertising that it ran on hydrogen, ugliest fucking thing out there, the person towing it around in his Land Cruiser who works for Toyota even hated it
i can confirm, i had a car called the Mirai, and it is indeed a translation for future, least i made mine look good (as good as my skills allowed)
I wish they didn’t go out of their way to make futuristic alternative fuel cars so butt ugly. I can’t help but think it actually tangibly delays uptake of new technologies. After all, EVs looked like amorphous eunuch cars pretty much until Tesla started courting the Douchebag Market.
I’m particularly salty about that because I’m a fan of hydrogen fuel cell.
In this theme - Opel Adam and Opel Karl. Since they are named after the founder of Opel and one of his sons, the next models should be Opel Fritz, Opel Heinrich, Opel Wilhelm and Opel Ludwig
Maybe if they didn’t get all pretentious with the styling on electric or hybrid cars, more people would buy them. Although that will just mean an influx of terrible puns referencing its hybrid or electric status so people will know.
I agree, honestly.
If they’d quit making hybrid and electric and alternative fuel vehicles look so radically different from their gas-powered counterparts, people might take the things seriously.
I mean, honestly, is it that hard to make a modern sedan electric? Do we really need to copy the Prius’ awful styling, or try to make the car look like it’s so angry about the loss of its gas engine that it wants to end the world?
Take an average small gas car, go electric or hybrid, and you’d have something that’s not awful. I mean, I know it’s not small, but the Ford Fusion hybrids are a perfect example: Let’s take a normal every-day car, make it a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, and not change the styling.
on topic. and also still relevant.
i think this is one of the reason TESLA is successful. although pretty or not is subjective, at the very least it looks more ‘normal’. and tesla because electricity duh.
off topic. i would’ve loved if this had happened
on topic. the toyota camry hybrid is awesome faster than a stock xr8 with the economy of a carolla.
If ford made a hybrid focus or a falcon (sigh rest in peace) I would buy it without a second thought. The same as the Landcruiser, add an electric motor or hydrogen system and suddenly your range is massive and you have all that power and torque down low without(or with) a turbocharger
I always thought the UK’s Vauxhall version should have been called the Vauxhall Alex after Alexander Wilson, the founder of Vauxhall.
PS, it also gets the nick name of the Vauxhall Edam
The Prius: Mid-Life Crisis Edition
Guys, I just found my new dream car:
So fierce, beautiful, and brave.
Nissan Note … next we would see Nissan Sticker and Nissan Pad
I would just like to say I would 100% welcome the introduction of a Renault Dave.
