Let’s get this party started!
This catalogue looks stunning.
Nice to see some modern machinery mixed in with all those classics. I can’t wait for the auction to actually start - which is when all hell will break loose…
Looks so damn cool!
Amazing work, @MrChips
I wonder how hard would it be if you could give us some more tasty statstics, such as how many cars each user sent or how are they distributed through the decades.
Based on the catalog, I can give you this:
Auction entries by decade
40’s - 4
50’s - 2
60’s - 10
70’s - 7
80’s - 9
90’s - 3
00’s - 1
10’s - 2
Auction entries by estimated price range
under $50,000 -------------- 4
$50,000 - $100,000 ------ 10
$100,000 - $250,000 ------ 8
$250,000 - $500,000 ------ 5
$500,000 - $1,000,000 — 5
over $1,000,000 ------------ 6
I can give you some interesting statistics too.
- There are 38 cars in the challenge and only 25 unique model years.
- 1984 is the most common model year, 4 cars being from that model.
- Depending on the actual value of the cars on the auction, the 1952 Bonham Casimir Twelve ER II is equivalent in value to between 30 and 34 of the cheapest cars on the auction.
- The 1966 GBSC M400 LM-GT has the least precise estimate (meaning the biggest difference between maximum and minimum estimates relative to the average), The 2018 Scagliati La Serenissima Quattrocento has the most precise one.
Been away from my computer for a couple of days, so thank you for filling in for me on the stats, everyone!
There are a couple of things I should add here; first, being a no-reserve auction, every car will sell, unless somehow it does not receive any bids. Additionally, the simulation spits out a price to start bidding for each car, which is lower than the low end of the estimate, so there won’t be any cars selling for a dollar either.
Finally, a note on the spread between the low and high estimated values; the high value is essentially a fixed amount above the mean value you all got in your appraisals, but the low value can change considerably based on the condition of the car. So, it would make sense that a brand-new car like the La Serenissima Quattrocento would have a very small spread, but an older, original car, that might not be in good shape, could have a very large one.
