@HighOctaneLove has a point. I’m tempted to build an AWD turbo monster, but this configuration adds plenty of weight and expense, although I wouldn’t be surprised if someone chooses to submit such a car.

@Ornate as stated in the rules post, pure RWD (regardless of engine placement) is not allowed, but AWD is. However, FWD is recommended.

Is that absolutely no RWD? Is RR not allowed either?

Dang! I love the idea of a good hot hatch but have never built an FWD car in Automation once :yum: so there goes my win

Nope, no RR, think like a rally fanboy and go from there!

Awesome i like the idea of a p plater car thats not a falcon or commodore style vehicle…theres nothing worse than a p plater driving a vr commodore… i tech got my opens by defualt by having ny learners for 6 months then p plates for a year then on to my opens…even though i was in africa at the time lmfao. For 5 yrs i kept my aussie license up to date so when i came back i didnt have to feck about with the new laws. P plates for three years is dumb it doesnt make better drivers. Education and having to pass defence driving not just reverse paralell parking ffs. Having to do 100 hrs on your learners permit is a great idea but limiting what kind of cars based on engine type along is bullshit. A v6 commodore causes more p plate accidents than any other type of vehicle (thats not just me thats the stats) so a vehicle from the 80/90’s with a v6 is fine regardless of safety rating but a little turbo4 in any vehicle is a no go! The laws suck I am so happy to come from a family that embraced my and my older brother (may he rest in peace) love of cars and started us racing at young ages. My first car was a 4agze 1986 toyota carolla my second car a xf ford falcon…accidents…i got t boned in the carolla just before i left Aus, i crashed a 1989 mr2 after being clipped whilst overtaking and broke every rib on my left side, i crashed and rolled my speedway car at 13 and i hit the wall at willowbank in my ba xr8@111mph after my brakes failed. The first car i drove in anger/race conditions…a 350hp ea falxon speedway car at eleven years old in jnr sport speedway in 1996. The laws are stupid. P plater should b able to buy any car with a minimum safety rating not fucking cylinder count or whether it has forced induction…that includes turbo diesel engines…grr sorry for rabble i really hate aussie traffic laws compared to Europe

Would someone please explain what a P-plate please?

P-Plate = Provisional Plate = a lisence that has limitations on what type of car you can drive. They tried to ban all the tuner cars via a ban on turbo cars but then VW started putting turbo’s on everything and now the rules look totally stupid. Turbo diesels are meant to be exempt but if heard of p-platers being fined because the cop can’t tell if the car is diesel or not!

Ok so in qld aus a p plater has restrictions on engine type anything turbo anything v8 or larger is not allowed including turbo diesel. P platers cannot carry more than one passenger after 10pm and p plates can have zero alcohol in thier system on top of that insurance for anything outside the norm or European/American will induce massive insurance costs…if you can get insured

Interesting… I had in mind a 90s FWD sports car idea for my next CSR hosting, guess I’ll have to think of something else :wink:

I think I’m gonna make a car that can do more than rally, not likely going to win but will sure win some honorable mentions.

It won’t be a factor in a decision unless there is a tie-breaker situation but don’t supply me any single/two seaters, :grin:

Due to lore and to having the car 85% built on an older version that I hope will work, the car will have a 1994 chassis and 1996 trim, that’s ok, right?

Ha! I wouldn’t have been able to drive any of the cars my parents owned with a stupid law like that. I find it ironic that a new 3.7L V6 that makes 310 HP in a Mustang would be fine, but a 4.6L 2v V8 that makes 250 HP in a Vic is banned.

No guns; no V8s for newly-licensed car guys… How un-American.

Considering that I have spent a lot of time living in Australia - or, more specifically, Queensland (a total of just over six years over two stints, to be exact) - I am fully aware that the state’s provisional licensing laws for older vehicles are actually more restrictive than those for newer ones. On my first visit almost 20 years ago, there was only one definition of a “high-powered vehicle”, according to the state government. When I returned, over a decade later, another, more lenient set of restrictions had been introduced, but these only applied to cars manufactured in 2010 or later, and were not retroactively applied to earlier cars. Specifically, any car built from January 1st 2010 onwards is deemed a high-powered vehicle if its power-to-weight ratio is greater than 130 kilowatts per metric ton. My main problems for this challenge is that I can’t find a good body and I can’t make the sportiness high.

Is anybody else having issues finding 80s or 90s hatchback bodies that can fit engines transversely? I’ve only been able to find 2 proper hatchback bodies so far and both of them can’t even fit the 1.4 I’ve got.

Edit: Why does the rear suspension affect transverse FWD engine placement?
