The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

Done. New version has a smoother path. Turn 9 is still a stickler, but much improved still. saved ~1.6s off of my times.

EDIT: Yes, elevations are off now due to adjustments. I’ll work on it more, I promise!

EDIT 2: Removing the file as a newer version has been updated in it’s original correct place on the forum.

I’m actually trying to enter something in this, but (seeing as some of you know how terrible I am at designing cars) my current project is maybe a little below par…(7Kg/Kw) Would anyone be willing to share their driveability score (+/- 5%, so as not to give me the exact figure… a little mystery is fun)?

It’s above 70.

whaaat? Im in the mid-high 40s

Depending on your drivetrain and choices it can vary. I have highly sorry handling no power steering test mules with drive scores in the 50s, but also FF and AWD cars with scores above 70.

I have a lot of test mules.

My car is probably somewhere in the 50s with just a little difference in sportiness

What’s the verdict on quality sliders? My current idea can only really survive so long as they’re allowed

If there’s nothing said about sliders, then go wild. However, you’ll quickly realise that using them too much can easily send your car over budget with the added engineering time and production units.

Sweet, time to go mad!

Same. I have so many (11) that I’ve gotten frickin bored of building so I’ll probably not even submit anything.

It may not be smart car mad, but it’s still mad, and might just have an N/A 6G72 swap[/details]

A minivan? I have my doubts about its effectiveness as a track car - the center of gravity is higher than is often desirable…

I also made a test build of an MR coupe with an OHV V8, but it was thirstier, slightly over budget and not much faster around a track than the FR coupe I submitted, as well as being less drivable.

Is there any penalty incurred from using a very small car body, aside from scores in the game (e.g. comfort penalty for low passenger space volume) and effect on track performance? Is the driver able to fit in every car body? I don’t want to enter a very small car and get burned like some other people were in another competition…

well… that minivan is faster than my sedan though

I’m 6’1, but I am comfortable in a Miata. If I can fit comfortably in a Miata I assume I can fit in anything ingame.

Well, sadly the file didn’t save right for the model so I had to go and re-think my options. But apparently the game thinks this new and improved model is competitive in the track premium market! (Must have been the facelift)

Coughs quietly

Mine is around 45, but is a MR, so is expected to don’t be so high.

It is actually possible to reach about over 50 drivability if the suspension and tire setup is properly tuned, though i wonder what is a decent drivability score would be for a MR car

I know, but I choose to get a better lap time, which gave me a worse drivability, I’m betting that our client will think that over 40 is enough drivability for a track car, since a car too easy to drive is boooooooring. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still,It is a good effort on how you turned a van into a trackday van that outrun sedans in Zolder
