The Highway Patrol Challenge [Reviews]

Here are the results for positions 20-4. With KrispyDoughnut having the best entry from the USA with the “Simon Buster 442”. That leaves the following participants to be get reviewed and to fight over who will get the HPC contract.

Top 3 in alphabetical order:

  • Der Bayer: BAM G3800 PRC, Germany
  • earincon198: Ignis Stella Contender, Colombia
  • Leo9613: Baltazar Basil Magnum Interceptor, Brazil

So will the HPC be won by (south) American companies or a German one? For sure with will not be a US one.

Ermm… I think it might be just my side, but I can’t see the results from the 180 x 100 image. All my browsers, Opera, Chrome, Firefox and IE can’t enlarge the image.

EDIT: Did everything I can on my side to get it working, even my cellphone’s chrome can’t get it to work. Guess I’ll be in the dark.

Just what place am I?

What??? My goodness, I didn’t expect that at all. That’s great news!

One thing though, the inclusion of the benchmark car on the scoring. Is that really fair? It seemed inadequate for me to put my car together with the rest of them. Maybe it’s just me.

Hah, told you so Leo :stuck_out_tongue:

Slowly edging my way up the ladder with successive challenges! Not quite there yet, but actually learning how to make more rounded, purpose-built cars. As fanciful as it seems, this is actually teaching me a bit about the workings of real life market considerations.

You’re 17th.

The benchmark car is not included in the calculation of the stats (so not in the average for each parameter). Do not see why showing it wouldn’t be fair, as long as it does not really participate.

Erika:

Kampf: Erika, stop it. Tyco already told us us that we place 17th this challenge. Not too bad for our first entry to our first challenge here. I expected something to be down rock bottom.

Erika: Kampf, didn’t you know this challenge was placed in 1978? We didn’t even exist, us and the company.

Kampf: Shit, I’m fading!

I don’t know. Maybe it’s because we shape the weights according to our beliefs as to what makes a car good, and of course we will build cars following the same principles. So they would seem to be very good. I remember actively making my ATCC cars slower, because I knew what I could get from the test track and it wouldn’t be nice having my car in the podium. The same could be said of my recent challenge, where the benchmark car would do very well. Not a win, but still very well.

Meh, not bad for me considering this was my first challenge, I think what could of helped me is if i had the ability to use an SFI system and more time to tweak the car a bit… shit i probable could of de-tuned a mopar 440 to regulations honestly. Ah but anyways keep an eye on my thread cause I will be putting this car in the lineup. Thanks for allowing me to participate Tycondero

This really depends on how much people want to read into it. If people already know the caveats of a benchmark having been made prior to the challenge, it’s common sense that their placing is little more than a curiosity as to how others as a whole interpreted the challenge compared to how the OP envisaged it (and how good the OP is at creating a car that biases to their own weights). I’ve seen benchmark results across all these challenges vary wildly. To me, what the results here show is that a lot of people went for a mega dragster ramrod and paid for it in the rankings :stuck_out_tongue:

You’d only have to nerf your benchmark car if you wanted to be competitive, like, say, Der Bayer putting 100kg ballast in his cars in the original BRC.

Super Nerd Jason’s helps in 5 easy steps:

Step 1] Open the results in a new tab.
Step 2] Go to this tab
Step 3] Press right Control button an “+” button (both normal and numpad should work)
Step 4] …
Step 5] Profit!!!

You’re welcome

Good to hear. You made a good car, which was well in line with the restrictions and emphasized the important things of the car. Just like the others in the top 6 did. Not going to say more though till the reviews, which I will do somewhere this week.

Sorry.
