The Junk In Your Trunk

Currently, a pile of my mom’s junk, I gotta clean it out before transferring it into my name, I’ll update it then

2005 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback

One flat space-saver donut spare, used once.
One electric tire inflator pump
7 gallon air tank, with 120 PSI safety valve and approx. 90 PSI currently in tank.
25 feet of high-quality air hose.
Tire filling nozzle.
One set of jumper cables, decent quality.
Jack, wheel ramps, jack-stands, and wheel chocks.
Socket and breaker bar, plus two feet worth of galvanized steel pipe for additional leverage.
One gallon container for gasoline, currently empty.
One shower-curtain rod for holding hatch open until I can be bothered replacing the gas struts.
One spare bottle of coolant, still full.
One bottle of windshield washer fluid, damn near empty.
My old rug from under the computer desk, covered in grease stains from being used as a work mat.
A spare shift knob from the junkyard, bought and somehow lost among the crap in the back, intended to replace the cracked one currently in the car.
One metric wrench and socket set, with extra 10 mm sockets.

And yet, still, I can manage above 30 MPG regularly enough. Despite having a car that clanks like a kitchen when hitting a bump.

Im thinking it would be a good idea to remove the jack from my car, maybe then I’ll get more than what feels like 25mpg uk

I didn’t use the trunk of my Audi 80 for a few weeks this year (just used the back seats as trunk, because I knew there is something in it and I am to lazy to clean it, and I forgot a giant block of concrete in it that I wanted to carry to the garbage site.
Car was a LOT faster after dropping it off.

GT86:

Subaru Legacy space saver I put in it, no spare wheel option in the UK.
Compressor and tyre gunk can.

Corolla:

Proper spare, foot pump, thermal shopping bag thing, some wiper blades and a massive kitchen roll.

2CV:

Small for short or 100 or so piece socket/spanner set for longer journeys
Screwdriver set
Spare coil
Spare condenser
Spare points
Spare spark plugs
Assorted replaced/spare engine components I either need or have forgotten to take out
Bottle of LHM
2L of Shell Helix
A spare wheel that I wouldn’t trust as far as I could throw
Haynes manual
Any jack I can find at the time before I leave so I don’t have to rely on the below
Side lift jack, hate it with a passion as it only jacks the body, which on a 2CV is a very bad idea
Original wooden chock and starting handle
Tow Rope (for towing other broken cars obviously)
Another massive kitchen roll to wipe oil off the sump so it doesn’t drip onto the track because that’s definitely never been an issue in the past. :joy:
Spare carburettor that doesn’t actually work that well anyway

I’ve probably missed some other various bits of cack.

Not sure why I carry the starting handle to be honest, the big bumper on the front stops you using it. I think I’d be able to bump start it before I had to remove the bumper…

1994 Ford Taurus SHO:

Coolant jug
empty washer fluid jug
donut spare
tool set
empty washer fluid case smashed flat (When full it still fit in the trunk along with two complete strut assemblies)
Spare intake gasket
Starter Solenoid for an '86 Grand Wagoneer

That’s just going off my memory, I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more in there, plus not to mention that car has amazing trunk space.
