The official AMW thread - 2024 AMW Phoenix

It is, and think about the “bang for your bucks” for a moment. It costs 150.000€. A Ferrari 458 for example costs around 190.000€, but it would get absolutely destroyed by the Dragonfly. :smiling_imp: The 458 may have a higher top speed but it really doesn’t matter on a race track.

Time to give you guys a closer look at the Mantis family, a 4 seat hatchback that rivals the Alfa Romeo Mito, VW Polo and so on!
We’ll start with the basic level, an 800cc I4 NA with 80hp, basic interiour, no entertainment, standard safety features and no driver aids other than ABS. The very bottom of the line-up but it will only cost 10.000€. Here are the stats:

Now it’s time for the first “proper” Mantis, the 1.6L I4T with 125hp and incredible fuel economy. It uses less fuel than the 800cc version but is probably quite a lot more fun. It costs 17.500€ and it will come with standard interiour, basic entertainment, advanced safety features and all driver aids except Launch Control. This is the standard equipment for the Mantis family. There’s quite a lot to say about this version, though. I think this is gonna be the best selling version because of the “power to fuel usage” rating. You will get 68.5mpg (US) / 82.3mpg(UK) / 3.43l/100km which, coupled with a 65l fuel tank, means you can go well over 1000 miles on a single tank of fuel.
Also, 8 seconds from 0-100km/h is pretty impressive for a 125hp car, and of course, the lack of weight is the key here as well as for the fantastic fuel economy.
Lastly, the 1/3 payment on the Mantis family starts with this model, so you can pay 1/3 of the price right away and then the rest over the next 5 years (monthly). That means 5.833€ right away and then about 195€ per month.

Next up is the weakest version of the 2.0L block. It’s the eco version which is always turbocharged and this particular engine can be found in the entry-level of the Eagle as well. This car has all the interiour features as the 1.6, but of course a different engine. It now makes 160hp and goes like stink due to the low weight, while being almost as economical as the 800cc engine! The price for this car is 19.000€, or 6.333€ right away and 212€ per month over the next 5 years. I think this will be the second-best selling version.

Now, if you’re one of the young guys who want only cars with more than 200hp, then this is the first version you might consider. The 2.0L fun NA with 211hp. I think it’s obvious to say that this is quite a bit faster than the eco, but then it’s supposed to be. And even though it uses over 50% more fuel than the eco, it’s still economical for the power it puts out. The price is 20.000€, or 6.667€ right away and then 223€ per month. This is also the first version that comes with Medium Compound tyres.

Of course, if the 211hp isn’t quite enough for you but you don’t wanna bankrupt yourself with fuel costs, there’s the 2.0L fun turbo version with 237hp. This amount of power will really satisfy your need for speed in a car that weighs just over 1000kg. It will easily out perform a Golf GTI which isn’t a particularly slow car, all things considered. But the 2.0L fun turbo will be less expensive than the Golf GTI. It will only cost you 22.000€, or 7.333€ right away and then 245€ per month. Plus, it uses less fuel than the fun NA.

The Fun turbo version really is something i can recommend, however, if you want not only an even more powerful engine but also upgraded suspension, there’s only two (or actually three) choices, first of which is the 2.0 Sport NA. With over 250hp, this is a car that can scare the hell out of BMW owners. It’s the least economical Mantis (other than the HP) but it will also offer you a great driving experience, plenty of tyre smoke and many surprised BMW owners because this car will even take care of a late '90s/ early '00s 540i with a 4.4L V8. All that for just 23.000€, or 7667€ right away and then 256€ per month.

However, it would be a shame if AMW wouldn’t offer you a turbocharged version of the sport engine. Yes, that’s right. 254hp is not enough for a car of similar size to a VW Polo. With now 300hp under the bonnet, this car is on par with a BMW M3 E46, if not better. Probably better though, because i doubt the M3 will even come close in terms of fuel economy. But as far as performance goes, they will be pretty similar. The 2.0L Sport turbo will smoke any non-M BMW currently in production while costing just 25.000€, or 8.333€ right away and 278€ monthly for the next five years.

All Mantis versions will get a 65L fuel tank and a 5 year warranty. Also, you get a choice of colours! They are:
white, sky blue, royal blue, midnight blue, black, lime green, red, yellow and grey.

Hey guys! I edited the post above! That’s because the Mantis has been reworked. While it may be true that the last post was about the Mantis, the potential customers liked its stats but criticised the looks for not being friendly enough. Here’s the new design:
http://i59.tinypic.com/24omsz8.png http://i57.tinypic.com/1042806.png

Also, the gearing has been reworked, which is why the stats of some cars have changed slightly.

The main reason i write this post is because there’s also a new Mantis HP and you may have noticed that the last post no longer contains the info and pics of the HP. That’s because it has changed pretty significantly. Let’s start with the looks:

http://i59.tinypic.com/syl5e0.png http://i60.tinypic.com/k1xpno.png

Aesthetically, the difference between this generation Mantis and Mantis HP is pretty much equal to the aesthetical difference between the previous generation Mantis and Mantis HP. New headlights, 4 exhausts, slightly reworked back end, 2 extra wings. What has changed, though, is my philosophy on this car. You see, it was already a 100.000€ sports car which was bought mostly for its performance and nobody really cared about its fuel economy. So, neither did i when i reworked the 4.2L NA V8. It now has even sharper cam profile, runs a bit richer, has bigger exhaust pipes, the compression ratio is higher and the rev limit has increased from 8500 to 9000 RPM. The result is this:

Put this engine into a 1168kg hatchback with AWD and a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, and the resulting acceleration is mindblowing!

[EDIT] i removed the back muffler for a bit more noise and for saving another 5kg. Also, the top speed has increased, and the 0-100km/h as well as the quarter mile time decreased by another 0.1 seconds. [/EDIT]

Also, it’s still as tame as before, has finally managed to crack the 300km/h mark and can beat the hell out of every real-life hot hatch, even tuned ones like the HGP Golf R with 730hp. Obviously, the fuel economy is no longer really good for the power and performance. It’s still acceptable, but the 75L fuel will only last for 500-550km, not 750km like before. However, while power and fuel usage have increased, the time it takes to go from A to B has decreased. The Automation track now takes just 132.8 seconds. Also, the price has increased to 110.000€ because the engine changes are pretty cost-intensive and the fact that you can now not only keep up with an Aventador over the quarter mile, but even beat it, will probably make an excuse for the higher price tag.

If you’re convinced to buy one, at this point it’s time to choose your colour! You can have:
black (as displayed), sky blue, royal blue, midnight blue, white, lime green, red, yellow or grey.

Greets,
Tom

Is there ANY advantage on the 800cc version, rather than the smaller price?! Hahahaha

The Mantis looks amazing, but if you want an advice, those exhaust tips are too big for such a small car. They should be a bit smaller, in my opinion  But if it is your company’s trademark, then it’s OK

Well, the thing is that some people don’t want tons of power or a lot of equipment, they just want an affordable car that works. That’s what this is. Nothing more. Pay the 10.000€ and off you go, no need to worry about additional costs per month. Also, thanks to the lack of weight, RWD and no traction or stability control, this car offers a very pure driving experience even if it’s not very fast. Still, probably faster than my 120hp Golf Diesel MK III.

Thanks  I only selected this type of exhaust and didn’t change the size… I like chrome exhausts, and so do many young people, that’s why it has them. Remember this is a car that’s made mostly for young people, and i think the exhausts are fine for that purpose  The sound will be nice, too.

Hey everyone! Today i’d like to show you some more models in detail. First up is the Weta.

I removed some of the LEDs on the front to make it look less complicated and (in my opinion) prettier. On the back end, i only placed a chrome vent over the bottom braking lights. The preview can be seen in the very first post, but i’m gonna show you the updated look here regardless:
http://i60.tinypic.com/2w25079.png http://i57.tinypic.com/nv7a0g.png

As before, the Weta is the first high-class hatchback. It’s luxurious and high quality. That makes it heavy, but a 2.5L I6T with 285hp guarantees good acceleration and pretty good fuel economy considering economy wasn’t this car’s main purpose. Also, it’s softer than many other AMW cars, however the ride height had to be lowered to prevent the car from rolling too much. It comes with RWD and a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox. Here are the stats:

The price for this car is 40.000€. That’s 5.000€ less than the Golf R here in Austria, but you get more interiour features and a meaty 2.5L I6T with more low-end torque than the Golf R’s 2.0L I4T. The Golf R may accelerate a bit faster than the standard Weta, but some of you might have noticed that there’s a Weta XX in my original post as well

The Weta XX is your car if you want a compact Bentley. A high quality and pretty high horsepower hatchback with a luxurious interiour and lots of torque for low RPM cruising. It comes with an 8-speed double-clutch gearbox, AWD and a top speed of 300km/h as standard. You also get luxury interiour, luxury entertainment, all driver aids except launch control, and advanced safety features. Its suspension is nowhere near as sharp as the Mantis HP’s, let alone the Dragonfly’s. It’s an everyday luxury cruiser with hatchback practicality which accelerates like a sports car if you want it to.

The aesthetics have changed slightly as well. You now get an additional, smaller vent on the bottom of the front end which contains a thin rectangular light. Also, there is now a thin chrome grille between the indicators. On the back, you now get braking LEDs instead of a simple red bar and some more chrome. There are no wings because this is no sports car but there are lips for style’s sake.
http://i61.tinypic.com/2gvpy5e.png http://i59.tinypic.com/nmkz1e.png

The price for all this is a rather reasonable 55.000€. Plus, economy isn’t too bad.

I’m going to share the platform files with you, as usual. Pick your colour of choice and tell me what model you want, and i can send you the finished car via PM!
Other than the displayed royal blue, you can have midnight blue, maroon, black, white, dark green or grey.

Weta - Rev - 0.lua (50.2 KB)

Why are the headlights so small?
Nice stats

There are plenty of LEDs, i think they offer enough light for driving by night

I think it just looks a little funky because the cars are quite chunky and most of the time cars have bigger lights.

That’s true, normally cars have bigger lights, but i am not building normal cars. I clarified that in the original post by saying that AMW sells exotic looking cars. Building normal looking cars means being conservative, but i like to try new techniques which not everyone uses. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but i never post a design i don’t like. I never stop refining the look of a car until i like it. That doesn’t mean everyone else has to like it, though.

well said

Alright, guys. Today comes something you might have been waiting for. AMW’s first true hypercar.
While, admittedly, my cars aren’t really “normal”, most of them could actually be produced. They all appeal to a certain kind of customer. This time, however, i wanted to build something i haven’t build before. And you know, i’ve built fast cars before. I’ve built very fast cars before. But i’ve never built something
utterly terrifying.
It’s called the Peregrine because my coupes are named after birds and the peregrine is the fastest bird on earth.
It’s not a performance car in the sense of creating the fastest lap times. That’s what race cars do.
There will only be a limited number of peregrines. The number of cars that will be sold is equal to the number of horsepower it has. Don’t worry, it’s not 300 or 500 or 750. It’s 2230.

As pretty much any hyper car, it’s made from carbon fibre. That means it’s not very cheap. It will cost you 1.2 million € because of all the engine man hours, the performance it makes and the fact that this car can beat the crap out of a Veyron Supersport or an Agera R, both of which aren’t necessarily cheap either.

The peregrine is the first car to achieve one of my biggest personal goals in this game. I’ve had this goal for quite some time but my engines weren’t good enough so i asked my buddies Jakgoe and strop for some help. Thanks, guys! However, the final engine is 100% built by me. It’s a 7587cc twin-turbo V8 with 2230hp and 2598Nm of torque. The big goal i was aiming for and which i also achieved was:

500km/h

To be precise, it actually does 509km/h. Want proof? Here’s a screenshot of its top speed on the AMW testing straight which is exactly 5km long.

At this point, you guys probably want to know what it looks like, don’t you?
http://i60.tinypic.com/9l97v5.png http://i58.tinypic.com/httf9h.png

While i may admit that the front is polarising as always (or even more so), i think the back is rather pretty, isn’t it? It’s not as crazy as other hypercars’ back ends, but i was thinking “most people won’t see the front of it regardless, so if they only see it from behind, i’m gonna try and give them a nice view”.

As said, only 2230 will be made and they cost 1.2 million € each. You guys on the forum are the only ones that can have the platform for free  And ordering one in this thread won’t cost you anything either. You may choose the colour you want, you can have all colours that the game currently offers.

Peregrine - Rev - 0.lua (54.5 KB)

Hey guys! I just edited the previous post because the Peregrine now gets an all new 7.5L TT V8 instead of the 6.6L. Here’s a pic of the engine and its stats (F*ck GreenPeace xD)

The results of this engine are in the previous post!

Greets,
Tom
75t8sRev0.lua (69.2 KB)

In terms of raw speed, that is an utterly terrifying car.

Indeed! I mean, a Bugatti Veyron for example takes about 19 seconds to go from 0-300km/h. The Peregrine takes under 8 seconds to reach 300, and about 13 seconds to reach 400km/h. And when was the last time someone thought a Veyron was slow?

Alright, guys. This post is gonna be divided into three sections and the first two will be very short: a general question, an announcement and then some new designs.

I’ve seen that some people have downloaded platforms from this thread. To those who did, how do you like them? Would you like to order one? What engine and what colour would you like?

Now for the announcement:
AMW builds custom engines.* If you’d like one, write a post which contains info on what kind of engine you want (e.g. sporty/eco/low-end/high-end etc.) and about how many horsepower it should have. *
We also tune cars. *So if you’re unhappy with how your car looks or performs, we can change that! *

With that said, i’d like to go on by showing you guys the new design for the Sparrow and the Puma!
Here’s the Sparrow:
http://i58.tinypic.com/xc0gue.png http://i62.tinypic.com/6hp01y.png

And here’s the Puma:
http://i62.tinypic.com/2mhzcau.png http://i61.tinypic.com/11ux6vo.png

I admit, the V-shaped LEDs are inspired by the Lamorghini Huracan. And yes, i also admit that they look better on the Lambo. But still, i wanted to try it out and i’m quite satisfied with the result nonetheless.

Here are the stats:

The engine is still the same 2.0L I4T with 275hp and pretty good fuel economy. The Sparrow will take care of the Alfa 4c and the Toyota GT86 and all its equivalents, whereas the Puma will fight the Subaru WRX and the Mercedes CLA.
The colours you can have are:
white, black, midnight blue, royal blue (as shown), yellow, mint green and red
http://i60.tinypic.com/20u1fdx.png http://i59.tinypic.com/demzop.png http://i60.tinypic.com/2r630om.png http://i62.tinypic.com/2hrevsl.png http://i60.tinypic.com/2dt9fro.png http://i57.tinypic.com/6qw4yh.png

Also, stay tuned for the HP versions

PS: Check out the post about the Peregrine! I fiddled with the quality sliders, allowing for even faster acceleration, higher top speed and positive downforce. Now at least you don’t have to be scared of taking off anymore

Puma - Rev - 0.lua (58.8 KB)

Those are some pretty cool looking cars  Keep ut the good work!

holy Batman how did I miss the Peregrine. That thing will fly. Unfortunately, it might literally do that going down the Mulsanne straight  but this small detail aside, it would be so satisfying to belt it down the Ehra-Lessein high speed track or somesuch.

I’m also very impressed with the 0-100 time of 2.2s. With an 8 speed gearbox putting power to all four wheels naturally it would be quick but I see you’ve had the foresight to make the wheels wide enough to cope! That said, I would love to know a few things, like: what’s the tameness penalty for wheelspin? (or in more Australian terms: how awesome a burnout does this car do?) Also, how much interior, entertainment and safety did you put in this car? Because I ran a quick test hypothetically modifying my Mephisto to do 500, and it’s about 300kg lighter…

Thanks Keimo  If you want, you can order one. Just tell me what model you’re interested in, what colour and what engine you would like. I’ll send you the finished model via PM!

Thanks strop! Firstly, it’s not going to take off because it does produce positive downforce. There’s no lift that could make the car take off. Also, i think the Peregrine will be super good for the SSCC, a 90 mile race on american highways that takes place once a year.
The tameness penalty for wheelspin is -4.0% with traction and stability control on. Turn them off, and you’ll get -16.2% to make a massive burnout
On the interior, i went for 2 seats, superlight interior, no sound insulation, no entertainment but all driver aids except launch control, and advanced safety options. The safety features make quite a big difference i think, given the fact that it’s a big car shell. Also, the engine in the Peregrine is a 7.5L which will be heavier than the Mephisto’s 6.8L.

Greets,
Tom

I would be terrified to drive one of your cars, but I would love to see one overtake me!
