Got into a big hairy discussion with Darkshine5 on mining and the economy in Australia

Is a Stormcloak
(lol jokes, but I see what you did there. Playing a khajiit female character it was really difficult picking sides in that civil conflict. The Nords were sexist xenophobics whose supporters were blissfully ignorant of their inheritance of a colonial people displacing the indigenous population, and Trump-like in their treatment of the Dunmer in Windhelm, and their constant bitchy profiling of my character as a skooma-chugging moonsugar smuggling sneak-thief, notwithstanding the fact that the vast majority of my kin were indeed well-versed in the art of all of the aboveā¦ but the Imperials were futilely trying to play mediator to the Thalmor hegemony. And as a khajiit I had more reason to hate the fucking Thalmor to the point of lugging a fireball or ten at every one I met, so that was my answer!)
Plays a khajiit in Skyrim
(Personally, I am a staunch imperial and hated the stormcloaks alot since as Rikke says, Nords arenāt fair weather friends. Really puts in perspective when loyal imperial subjects who benefited greatly from their protection, and their reason for secession is a policy that the empire itself is very lax on implementation. Ulfric was just looking for an excuse to seize power blaming it on a bunch of things such as thalmor torture or imperials restricting rights to worship when he personally spear headed genocide of the Reachmen. The Imperials were very obviously plotting to turn on the thalmor when the opportunity presents itself, and I found the thalmor quite a waste of a faction tbh. They couldāve been written like Caesarās legion in NV where there were actually reasons to support them for the good of the wasteland as opposed to DURR HURR WEāRE LITERALLY HITLER HATE US WE EVULZ AND RACISTT AND GENOCIDALLLL)
Is also an Imperial
Believes in the long, murky fight.
(I do understand that reasoning. Drawing from knowledge of all TES lore I could also have been less sympathetic to the plight of the Dunmer, since, after all, to a social liberal like myself, I found their ways and worldview very objectionable in Morrowind and it took an Act of God of apocalyptic proportions to change things. Then again the few Altmer there was just as haughty and condescending. The non-Thalmor Altmer in Skyrim, strangely enough, were lovely people. However my characterās somewhat uneducated conclusion from IC observation in Skyrim was that there was a reason it was called Aldmeri Dominion, and a reason Saadia sold Hammerfell to the Thalmor, and that was that the Thalmor were definitely on the road to world conquest. Character-wise, I found myself skeptical that the Imperials would ever have a chance to find any foothold, though you could counter-argue that much of the reason they were stretched thin was because a) they were holding out on declaring the true extent of their assets to the Thalmor b) Ulfricās shenanigans were a pain in the ass, though then again they could have also been using the war as a distraction and not really in that much of a hurry to resolve the conflict. This however sounds like more of a justification for the status quo being hero-dependent, than a real motive. Ultimately I figured my character, being a mostly melee, destruction oriented character, was a bloodthirsty barbarian who liked hitting things and so would have baulked at the idea of subtlety and withdrawing from a fight. Was it the right thing to do? Probably not.)
