  1. Nope, no downforce. AT ALL. On my first build I tried hard race tires, which caused the T48 to have wheelspin when coming close to 390 (due to the massive lift at the rear). I did not want to create drag so I added grip by using medium race tires. It was enough grip to scratch the 400 barrier. Also I used all the engineering power I had to move as much weight as possible to the rear of the car, but I did not count the salt flats into the equation. Some downforce would have surely helped…

I will post the exact numbers of lift once I get back from work.

  1. Yes the weight probably helped. Spraying salt everywhere is exactly what my T48 was doing.

I hope I learn from my mistakes

It’s yours, fair & square :wink::+1:

Do you really consider to manhandle such a beauty for the next races/challenges? :astonished:

Edit:

The lift at 400 kph would be way higher, but by Automations calculations, it wouldn’t go that fast…

Just messing with you. I know you know what a CD is. Maybe not a floppy disk, though. Haha!

It’s not his fault he’s not old enough to know about the Dubstep we had to listen to, to connect to the internet.

Thank you all once again for participating—I had a fantastic time! I’ll be competing in an online sim racing tournament tomorrow, so I’ll likely post the blog update with our official results in two days. As for the next deadlines, I mentioned in the livestream that I’ll be pushing them back a bit to focus on my upcoming surgery. With the holidays approaching, the new deadlines will probably fall after that. By then, hopefully, we’ll have some exciting new features ready to share!

Some feedback - your voiceover is a bit too quiet compared to the engine sound and would benefit from bumping up the volume slightly so we can hear you better

EDIT: Also @rafles - could you please clarify how the next factory car submission works - should we be submitting another car? and updated version of the same car? Is the year still set as 1946? Does the previous car count for anything in the next round?

Yeah he said well be submitting new cars still 1946 for the year. (The second deadline i mean)

Guess I needed to make mine a bit more drivable, I did test it on a salt flat but if you let the wheels start spinning they just never stop thanks to its horrible torque curve.

It says quality slider is 0 on factory cars, is that the maximum quality or is negative quality also banned?

Thank you for the feedback, Machalel! I’ll work on improving that.

Everyone, I’ve been struggling with pain over the past few days. My next surgery is scheduled for Monday, and unless I make a sudden improvement, I’ll need to delay posting the blog and instructions until late next week. Please don’t worry— as I mentioned earlier, the deadlines will be postponed until after the holidays, so you’ll have plenty of time.

To start clarifying a few points:

  • You can submit one car per company per factory car submission deadline. This can be a facelift, an improvement, or an entirely new model.
  • Keep in mind that the more models you have, the more saturated your market will become, increasing the risk of “cannibalization” between your cars. If you’d like to remove a model to avoid this, just let me know.
  • You can make one competition car for each model you submit.
  • Quality bonuses are calculated per model, while overall scores are calculated per company.

Regarding the next competition:

  • It will feature a time trial at the old Monza circuit, including the iconic banked turns, as well as a tight city street rally on BeamNG’s Italy map.
  • Strategy tip: If you already have a large factory car, consider using it at Monza and building a smaller car as the base for your rally car—or vice versa. If your current car is small, aim for a medium or large car this time around.

I hope that helps clear up some questions. I’ll get back to work as soon as I start feeling better.
