End theme of Blade Runner. Works really well during a summer night in a city. youtube.com/watch?v=qgz6jFxMpyk
Like imagine all the street lights’ reflections flowing on your car’s bonnet and windshield while you cruise along in a calm twilight with windows open, this song playing loud. Just perfect.
I don’t actually drive because I am too young to, but If I was able to drive I can imagine me driving in a Mazda MX-5, cutting through European mountain roads listening to this:
Finding some good driving music for me is an issue. My preferred genre of music are industrial bands such as Rammstein and KMFDM, but I prefer slightly calmer music when driving because I’m in New York… and remaining calm while driving here is a very difficult task; especially ever since our local dictator lowered the city wide speed limit to just 25mph, and even more disturbing is that some people actually follow it.
The problem with calm music is that it not only bores me, but usually genuinely annoys me too… so most times I just prefer to listen to the music my namesake produces in the city, and only turn something on when I’m on the highway. There’s a radio station here that plays classics such as the one I posted, and I usually turn that on because their selection is usually passable to my ears.
Another good choice is to take memorable music from the racing games I’ve played; such as [Steve Mcqueen] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2snZeCB1NAM) by The Automatic, from Dirt 2. When hearing that song, my brain automatically fills in the screaming VQ35DE from the Nissan 350Z in that game.
A song that fits both the game music and shitty music tag is [They Say] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUHnH7hZJMk) by Scars On Broadway; also from Dirt 2. That’s a song I don’t even like… but it just sets the mood right to get a ticket for speed, dangerous driving, and whatever else that doughnut muncher comes up with.
Now for those concerned… I used to have my fun on an abandoned airfield here; a fairly secluded place where amusing yourself was safe. Sadly, it’s no longer abandoned because they decided to build a sports complex there… and I’ve been a very sad soul ever since. When I was a kid, I saw a Viper and a Diablo having fun with each other there in the late 90’s… I guess that set my love for that place in stone.
