2017 Zenshi Altaris

The third generation Altaris made it’s way to the Zenshi booth today, presenting an agressive aura thanks to the Shinka design applied to it.

Unlike the previous generations which were based on a modified platform of the Taiko (Zenshi’s general utility vehicle subsidiary) Tsumori, the third generation Altaris is based on a modified Axia platform, thus resulting in the lack of sliding rear doors, causing the once-then minivan to transition to a general MPV.

Upon looking at the Altaris, one might think the brawny-looking 8-seater MPV would be heavy, and they would be wrong. Because it has traditional opening rear doors, the Altaris has saved quite a bit of weight, weighing in at 1,650 kg (200+ kg lighter than the previous generation), which is light for a big family hauler. Couple that with the driving dynamics Zenshi is known for, and you have yourself a family athlete.

The base model Altaris will be powered by the 200 HP QS25GDA 2.5L Inline-4 engine mated to a 6-Speed Manual transmission on a RWD platform. Higher trims and options allow for the Altaris to be equipped with the SM-AWS all-wheel drive system, 6-Speed Avantec, and/or the 320 HP LZ6-ME 3.7L Inline-6 engine.

At a starting price of $29,950, the Altaris will hit the dealership floors soon.
