Economy equations

I think that maybe the “economy test cycle” needs a rethink, or something.
Especially if the car has only 2 gears (1958 auto), with a HUGE engine. (904cid - 14.8L):innocent:

Is it too much or too little? :joy:

I made a suggestion about the test cycle today:

6.7mpg sounds reasonable for a big v12 of the era, actually it’s quite good. The ford super duty 8.8 liter 534ci v8 equipped trucks only got 5-6 with a 3 speed manual

I was more thinking about the rpm’s at the different speeds.

How much torque is that baby making at idle?

Well the sheer size of this thing places it somewhere around heavy truck engines, which would normally work at 400 rpm, so I see nothing really weird here. Especially with the torque probably exceeding 1000Nm.

Yeah, I don’t see a problem here considering it is a 14.8 L engine :stuck_out_tongue:
