Forum's favourite car tournament

Ok no problem

Quarterfinals time. Or, at least, main bracket quarterfinals. The loser’s bracket is cut down to 8 matches. There are only 32 cars that have a shot at this, and only a quarter of those has more than one life left. Not only that, but in two days, we’ll be cutting down that 32 to 24, and in four days, that 24 to 16.

The stakes are getting higher, and it’s time for new matches.

That MX-5/Pantera vote was way harder than it had any right to. In the end, chose the one that could potentially… anger me less in ownership. That’s a voting criteria a man can go by, surely?

Semifinals time! (Main bracket semifinals time).

The highlight (for me, at least), is the Lancia showdown we have going on. Like, really, both Lancias that got submitted have got this far. Like, half of the cars in the main bracket are Lancias. And I guarantee you, that will not change after this round.

So, we are onto the finals of the main bracket. Two rally legends, the A110 vs the Stratos. A match to remember… except it will not happen now. It’s gotta be near the end for the true grand finale kind of hype, does it not? And we have an entire losers bracket to go through.

This means that today there will only be four matches instead of five.
Brace for (hopefully) hard decisions.

Not only that, twelve contestants are left as well, and we’re gonna eliminate a third of those after this round.

I did not expect the little Elise (which I nominated) to make it this far…

It’s got a cult fandom. We all love cutesy fibreglass British sports cars it seems.

I’m a simple man. I see a car with a K-Series, I vote for it.

Isn’t it kinda sad? We started out with ninety cars. Less than 10% of that remains in the tournament.

I should probably mention that with the elimination of the Clio V6, we now know that the Top 8 only has vehicles introduced before the year 2000.

Heh, who would’ve known… One day before my eye surgery, I get the honor of seeing the Miura’s ultimate fight. Against the car who offed the Charade, another object of my car passion, no less…

Do your best, bella torina. I’m hoping for good news once your tough ordeal (and my own) is done. :+1:

There might be some justification for this: cars made before then had a simpler, more analog and visceral feel due to not having an abundance of electronic aids neutering the driving experience, as most of today’s cars do.

not really, it’s just because they’re old enough to have a reputation. I’m sure in 2040 people will look at the Tesla’s rn as super cool classics just because they’re old really.

Miura vs. 959/NSX (it’s really close), this will be a hard choice. (JK 959)

Not necessarily if you ask me. I have been voting for a lot of 80s stuff due to their cyberpunk/synthwave feel or association with, not for how electronically assisted they were. It’s a matter of taste and everyone has their reasons to pick a car over the other.

I think a major part of it is that a lot of us grew up loving these 80’s and 90’s cars and we don’t have that same connection or nostalgia with new cars regardless of how good they are. The NSX made it this far because Gran Turismo
