#Zavir explained
…meaning some descriptions, explanations and some lore stuff not belonging into the history part :slight_smile: This post will be gradually updated as the Zavir brand and its lore develop. It’s sort of FAQ, although nobody asked me them :stuck_out_tongue:

###What is Zavir about?
Zavir’s focus and actual activities varied throughout history, but it was always about quality, style, innovation, performance and comfort. These 5 things define what every Zavir car is - at least that is the target. The effects are… varied, to say the least :stuck_out_tongue: Often intentionally, as in case of the “WTF generation”.

Zavir is not about stat maxing, record breaking or offering the best price. It’s about creating a somewhat believable story, slightly altered by a bit of normal Automation craziness. Cars ranging from completely realistic to just an inch or two over the top.


###What Zavir produces, generally speaking?
Generally speaking, nearly everything you can pour fuel in. Premium cars under the Zavir brand are just a part of it - there are also engines available for other manufacturers (a lot of them even unavailable in Zavir cars - diesels for example), utility and offroad cars under the joint-venture Zeta brand, jet engines, marine engines, motorcycles, tanks, locomotives…

Zavir Group is a huge global corporation producing all mentioned above. But what you, fellow forum user, should know if you are interested in Zavir is that cars are produced by Zavir Automobili (premium and sports cars, this thread, 100% owned by Zavir Group) and Zeta (utility and offroad, to be created after UE update, 50% owned by Zavir Automobili) and engines (which you can freely use) are produced by Zavir Motori (here, 100% owned by Zavir Group).


###What all these names you use mean?
There a lot of names that I use for various body styles, trims technnologies and so on. Some of them don’t change and are used in Zavir since, more or less, ever:

  • Volante - always meaning a coupe of some sorts, 2-3 door one. If it’s added to another model name then it’s considered to be a semi-separate model, usually with a different engine lineup and possibly other options and parameters.
  • Turismo - an estate, usual 5 door vechicle to move more of your stuff around
  • Spider - a cabriolet, convertible, or whatever you wish to name it
  • Ultima - as it suggest, an ultimate variant of a car, usually a sports one, usually with a V12
  • Hydraspeed - hydraulic automatic transmission, generation ranging from I to VII - the 1st has 2 speeds, 7th has 9, there was no 6 speed generation

There are also some names introduced later, or used just for some time:

  • Berlina - a sedan, 4 door limousine
  • Coupe - a tricky one, because it might mean a 2 door coupe as well as a 3 door hatchback. But unlike the Volante in terms other than the body style it is exactly the same as the base model.
  • Z - yes, just a letter - but it’s as meaningful as BMW’s “M”, and means more or less the same - speeeed (or just a sporty look :stuck_out_tongue:)
  • Fastback - not a fastback, but a sporty liftback 5 door coupe (just corporate logic, scroll along)
  • Seletronica - sequential gearbox, first generation being a 6 speed single clutch, second a 6 speed dual clutch, third a 7 speed dual clutch
  • 2Forza - limited slip differential, just that - name used only if it’s optional
  • 4Forza - Zavir’s AWD system, usually with limited slip differentials
  • Hydraglide - hydropneumatic suspension
  • Airide - air suspension in two generations - the 1st has passive dampers, the 2nd has adaptive ones

###Things typical for Zavir
Zavir, despite its love for new technology, in some areas is a rather conservative brand. For example - in every single Zavir since about 1950 you’ll find a grille with a horizontal bar - sometimes just decorating it, sometimes fully splitting, but it’s always there. In older cars front indicators are often on the inside end of the headlights.

Typical Zavir car has a V6 engine, while typical high-end Zavir has a V12 engine - there are of course I4s and V8s available, but they are not as important and omnipresent in the lineup as V6s and V12s. V12s are available in Zavirs constantly since 1949, with two different families being usually available in the same time, and two lines of V6 families are available since the early 60s, supplanting an I6 and a V8. Typical Zavir car’s engine is relatively high revving and naturally aspirated (although, of course, there are exceptions) and is gasoline powered, despite a lot of diesels being available in Zavir Motori lineup.

Also the vast majority of Zavirs are RWD, with the only FWD model being the smallest Cittadino. Zavir cars are often made of lightweight materials - good example being the latest Squalo, made of aluminium and carbon fiber despite not being a sports car, but rather a big limousine.


###Zavir in the Unreal version
The brand will be normally continued with a revision of some things going on by the way - for example some lore or lineup details, engines, exact car designs and so on, but the overall character, naming, style, history will stay.

#Futuresight
Yup, Futuresight is back! This time inspired by @DeusExMackia’s Erin Scarlet, with a car that I thought would be good competition for it :slight_smile: So, this is it, a car with a factory “bad look”:

##Zavir Nova Volante II Sportivo

It’s the sixth generation of Zavir sports cars, being one of the longest and most important model lines for the company. As usual, it’s heavily based on the mid-class offering, the Supernova II. The car you see here is in the top of the line performance trim, the Sportivo. This means aerodynamic additions, 17" rims with sports tyres, better brakes, sportier, yet still comfortable air suspension and, obviously, the highlight of this whole piece of engineering art - a 3.6 litre, naturally aspirated V6 (good old S42E family) providing its 333hp to the rear wheels through a 5 speed manual. Effect?

  • 257 km/h top speed
  • 5.5s 0-100 time
  • 2:20.5 ATT time
  • 51 drivability, 43 sportiness, 30 comfort

In short, a driver’s speed machine for $25 900 :slight_smile:

Edit: Ah, important info I forgot to add - it was produced and offered in 1985 - 1990.

I take the Sportivo is quite a bit heavier than the Scarlet? Especially with that air suspension, unsual choice but it would make it very comfortable indeed. There’s a real 190E vibe here too, and I approve :wink:

It weighs somewhere around 1350 kg, but it has a premium interior, a radio and an advanced safety equipment.

That would be it, much more equipment than the Scarlet then

Why “mini”? Well, it’s too little text* even for a normal “Futuresight”, but I thought that it’s worth reposting here. And why double? Because it features two cars to compensate for the lack of content - Cittadino III Sportivo and Aera Turbo, both being my CSR entries.

##Zavir Cittadino III Sportivo
As entered for CSR29.

Sporty car? Of course that Zavir is coming to the party, especially since the new Cittadino just got released in 1996 (luck :grin:). So, here it is, Cittadino III Sportivo, (literally) a ton of naturally aspirated fun!

Few things about this little rocket:

  • 1.7 I4 with over 170hp
  • under 7s from 0 to 100
  • Z-line yellow colour unavailable in standard Zavirs
  • based on the smallest Zavir, being also the only Zavir with FWD
  • 15 700 $ and it’s yours :slight_smile:

At lucky no. 7 on our list is the Zavir Cittadino Sportivo, which probably hails from the same part of the world as the Brivio, the Sportivo is a badass hot hatch which manages to overpower the ultralights without resorting to stripping everything out of the car. This is achieved by using a 130Kw, 1.7L 4 cylinder, to power the beast; which is achieved on 95RON fuel. The sportivo does kinda cheat by installing a crappy stereo but the interior is nice and comfy, rather than bare-bones.

Looks classy, although less exotic than the Brivio, but a bit conservative for our tastes. A new Sportivo will set you back $15,600, which is a good deal on the face of it, but resale might bite due to a lack of dealers around the country.

Verdict: Nice Euro with a real spring in it’s step, worth every penny!

##Zavir Aera Turbo

#Zavir Aera GTR


This little monster is based on Zavir’s new light sports car model, the 1984 Aera. This exact build is roughly the same machine that will compete in the magnificent Group B from this season, replacing the aging Z Volante R2. It is powered by Zavir’s brand new small V6, the S27E in a turbocharged form which delivers it’s tremendous power to all wheels - an innovation introduced to improve performance in the highly demanding Group B rallying.

Some stats:

  • over 550hp
  • under 1100kg
  • under 3.5s to 100km/h

Just want to reaffirm how much like the Aera, especially that rear light design. It’s superb.

One question though; both the Aera and the Scarlet competed in CSR37, but you didn’t suggest it as a rival to the Scarlet Mk 1, instead putting the Nova Volante II down. Any reason? :smiley:

And yes - the Turbo is the most extreme version of Aera (excluding highly limited homologation special for Group B), and it would be a match for the basic Scarlet. Nova Volante II is closer in terms of power range, performance, price, position… Aera is meant to be a basic, light sports car, a competitor for… Nasaro? I’m not sure if this is the car I think of. Or, in the modern times, for the Nardella. Mid-high range sports car is the Nova Volante.

PS And I would enter the Nova Volante for the last CSR, but I was pretty sure it would exceed prod. units and eng. time limits, and in addition it has no turbo variant :smile:

…even though it’s quite big and packed with content for a Futuresight, it still lacks some things to be treated as a full-fledged presentation. So, here it is, as seen in '17 Automation Geneva Show.

Here it is… the latest incarnation of the ultimate premium automobile:

#Zavir Espada 2017

The thoroughly refreshed sixth generation of the Espada, here, in Geneva, showing it’s two faces:

The car has been deeply updated not only from the outside, but also from the inside with over 1200 technical modifications* to keep delivering our customers the best possible quality, and thus comfort, performance and safety. The new Espada handles better, rides more comfortably, and is faster, safer and more economical than the current model**. But getting back to the outside…

The front got updated with the latest form of Zavir’s Flowing Light design (with the support of Luceat Studio - thanks @titleguy1), taking styling cues from the recent Zavir Squalo, and technology debuted in the last year Luna - laser headlights, which greatly improve night visibility, thus raising the ride safety.
The side of the Espada got new, sleek handles known from Squalo and Z Volante and a redesigned chrome trim, resembling that from the Squalo, yet still having it’s unique, distinguishable look, including the side trim level badging.


The rear of the car is the most recognisable part of the Espada - probably also making it the most recognisable Zavir model. Although it keeps a high level of similarity with all other Zavir cars utilising the Flowing Light design, it’s taillight shape is completely unique, and made possible thanks to the lights being full LED units.

Effect? While you might find as good looking limousine, we are convinced that the Turismo is the most elegant estate on the market.

The new Espada will be available in the european markets from April, starting from 35 999 € for the base Berlina 2.0 TIDe Stilo, with the same choice of engines as the current model (rounded horsepower figures):

Just a quick info with a little addition:
I’m going to limit my activity on the forums until at least July to just browsing and publishing what I have already done, more or less - which means some Zavirs (in Futuresight form, as I 1. don’t have many of them designed in technical aspects 2. won’t have enough time for full presentations, but I’d still like to post some designs which I consider to look finished and good (as I also have some old very much “meh” cars); it also means the revival of my long forgotten random desings thread.

So, to start it, here’s the little addition mentioned before:

That’s the front of an unfinished concept of Zavir 88, company’s flagship in '57-'60 (until the 95/96 came along) and then just a premium fullsize until '63, when it got replaced by the 90/91 model. This concept has a 4.8 V8 as the only engine, but if it was to be finished it would probably get sth bigger too. Oh, and it’s an unibody construction, as Zavir ditched the frame construction as soon as they could.

#Futuresight
As I announced :slight_smile: Today I have some more time, so I could publish both the Unreal cars in the random designs thread and this :slight_smile: And “this” means… yet another Squalo. This time the second generation, being the longest produced one.


Both sedan and coupe - Volante - were released in 1982 and while the sedan got replaced in 1990, the Volante lasted two years longer making its lifespan a full decade during which it got two major faceliftings. But the variants presented here are from the first series, using the rectangular style of the late 70s to early 80s Zavirs. Due to being designed after the oil crises of the 70s and “good, but too big” reception of its predecessor in Europe it got smaller, in this generation defining the typical size of the next Squalos with its 3 metre wheelbase and 5.2 metre length. It was also quite innovative in its use of aluminium body panels, which with the smaller size made it more dynamic.

Both variants are powered by the same engine - the good old S42E :smile: This time the big V6 comes in a 4.2 litre form with the M-Iniettronica injection. Somewhat full stats:

  • 4179 cc V6, full aluminium
  • 24 valve DOHC
  • multipoint EFI
  • 249hp @5600 rom
  • 6300 rpm redline

The sedan has a luxury interior (which is a mid-tier option in Squalo), Hydraspeed III transmission (4sp automatic) and the extremely comfortable Hydraglide suspension (hydraulic). The Volante has a premium interior (let’s say that it serves as a lightweight sporty option ;)), 5 speed manual and the innovative Airide suspension (air, obviously). The sedan is the car which the Sand Gold colour comes from, and the Volante is the car which the Midnight Blue colour comes from :slight_smile:
No prices or actual stats, as I created these cars quite some time ago as just prototypes, so they aren’t really optimised, so it wouldn’t make much sense.
