Prototype 001 was First car constructed by group of mechanics working in Lutoza Mechanics & Junkyard. Made from spare parts and lucky finds in their junkyard provide a cheap solution to have a small family car to everyday use. It wasn’t perfect due to poor quality parts, but gave them first ideas on how actually build cars.

Deeper story

No 1 was poorly made with just essentials and painted in simplest white color available in workshop. It used as business-workhorse car to find more possible donators of spare parts and other future requirements for projects. One of mechanics actually tried to use it at midnight to check if it is fun to drive harder and it wasn’t bad. That pumped team to think about it more.

No 2 was later sent as Rally car for upcoming Fruinia rally race in 1952. Second was most polished one, with now on known Lutoza Green color and number 130. It actually used different parts than No 1, from not really a scrapped Light pickup. It was found not far from their workplace and owner didn’t want any money for it when he hear that they want to use it as base for rally car. Owner even ensured himself that mechanics gonna promote Spain with it to outside world. Thanks to this donator, truly history began.

#130 had some additional ideas from mechanics to give it a little more style with proper chromed parts and stylized addons near blinkers and on side of car. Badge on car was a mash-up of random intact badges of scrapped cars in junkyard. Whole project turned everyday mechanics into maniacs to produce most polished barn-car that could interest normal people watching it on rally. It took a lot of money, but it wasn’t a problem when owner of Lutoza M&J joined their ideas. It helped to make second car, the 002.

Achievements

Proto 001 participated in Fruinia 1952 rally. Mechanics did a briefing for Driver provided by Event host. They hoped that it gonna score good middle of the pack of cars participating in this race. It wouldn’t be possible if Mechanics didn’t send with the driver best one to work on any issue that could happen. It was just beginning of issues they discovered when rally actually happen.

Designed by an enthusiast and put together on a junk yard, no one is surprised when the Lutoza Prot. 01 has some technical issues in the first 50 kilometers. Apart from that, the car drives well.

The Lutoza Prot. 01 maybe lacks just that bit off power – at least in the rev-range the gearing allows – to send it up the steepest parts at competitive speeds.

The driver is clearly struggling with the gearing off the Lutoza Prot. 01, also caused by the power curve that doesn’t give much oomph early on. Further time is lost due to a stuck rear brake disc.

Overall Proto 001 Scored 13th place in 800-1399cc class scoring 22 points. Predictions were true which made a lot of joy to Mechanics and Owner of company.
