Team Less Than Three pt.1

With the majority of the drivers stopped by the same stop and go traffic, there wasn’t really any action going on with Team <3 past the usual for now. Their car was not even as noisy as many of the others, with any sound of Jeff yelling at the traffic muffled out by the bass notes on the Kuma’s subwoofer’s or the Kuma’s own exhaust. The CB radio which Eileen had yet to figure out how to use properly had a fair amount, though it was mostly ignored by the couple until the mention of food.

“Oooh, I could use a bite. Yes we would like to come.” Eileen replied, not actually transmitting anything.

“Don’t think you sent anything over.” Jeff said “Usually it makes like a sound I think when its done. Did you press the button.”

“Oh there’s a button.” Eileen held down the radio button. “I think it’s working now?”

Jeff held down the Kuma’s horn for a moment. “Come on! Fucking traffic!”

“Jeff! You want food too right?” Eileen spoke away from the radio, though clearly audible. Also the bass notes from the subwoofers were also clearly audible as noise.

“Yeah, sure.”

“Hello hello, yes we would like to join in the pizza.” Eileen said into the handle. More bass notes transmitted through afterwards before they actually stopped transmitting.

Team Trinity

The rest of the traffic jam was uneventful. John taking notes of the plentiful CB conversations going. MAtthew getting annoyed by the plentiful BC conversations going. Alice with her headset on listening to music. Ivy Mike sleeping and occasionaly twisting its ears at the CB prattle accompanied by an annoyed twist of his tail. Matthew felt sudden affection for Ivy Mike. Softened, he felt like saying something to John.

Kurwa, sounds fun to say. Kurwa, kurwa, kurwa. Sits well in the mouth. Hope they are alright though, that sounded like a crash.

I wouldn’t, not in the company of a lady, John interceded.

Why not? It’s just a swear word. For fuck sake.

the traffic jam was lagged on, but the antics over the cb radio kept the two immensely entertained especially the ‘furries’ who had gotten very into their cosplaying ; )

CB :

Redwood: “Hello people! If anyone is interested in some frinds-making, we can meet up at Beau’s Pizza & Pasta, 124 E 1st St, Cle Elum, WA 98922. Should be about 30 miles down the road from here.”

In Car:

Mandy: “fancy some pizza then eh Connor”

Connor “won’t that make us lose some time?”

“yes but we can also do a bit of scouting for the competition … plus I’ve heard it gets a little pranky on these things so let’s not miss out on the action” Mandy grinned at Connor with the seeds of a plan growing in her eyes “why don’t you find out what’s on the menu in the meantime”

CB:

"you can put us down for a bite to eat, that’ll be a table for two @Elizipeazie " Mandy then released the transmitter

In Car:

Connor: “aaha! I’ve found it here’s what’s on the menu”

Connor then proceeds to ready out the menu

Mandy: " aye nice! keep that tab open for when we get there"

Gran - Oh dear…why does the car feel like it’s crabbing?

Spanners - Because the steel I’ve welded in places, although great welds, aren’t in a position to stop the car “flexing”.

Gran - George, I believe you bought a car that may actually kill me…and as it’s a hearse it would be rather apt.

Mopey - Honestly Gran it’s fine. Isn’t it Spanners?

Spanners - Honestly? Erm probably. Anyway, I’ll buy some resin and pour it into the cracks…hopefully that will suffice. After all it can’t get any worse…can it?

Gran - And the squeak?

Spanners - Just the suspension settling in.

RK Series Racing; Chapter I.III; Getting the tables set

After recieving numerous replies from other teams and noting the accepting ones, he goes back to the CB radio:

Redwood: [motivated] "RK Series Racing racing here. If i got everyone right i have these teams meeing us at the Pizza place…

He looks down at the list he made and then reads them off one by one.

Team “Buy Skirim”. Very creative name, by the way… Team Stokes, The Thompson Family; Team Eyelashes, Team Less Than Three… Another marvel of originality here. IN A GOOD WAY! And last but not least team Bakewell Boxer.

The handle is handed over and the energetic voice of Redwood
is replaced by the neutral and clear-cut voice of Connor.

Connor: [in the most neutral voice imaginable] “In total, the planned meetup will consist of seventeen people spread over seven different teams. RK Series Racing will try and organize a table seating everyone. Consideing the size and normal traffic at Beau’s Pizza and Pasta, this might not be possible. I will update you on the table reservation progress.”

After the transmission has ended, they set on about reserving seats.
Or… more accurately, Connor does so.
He discovers that Beau’s Pizza and Pasta only has table seating three to five people, though cramming a sixth person on one is not impossible.*
He picks the handle up again:

Connor: “RK Series Racing contacting everyone visiting Beau’s Pizza and Pasta at 124 E 1st St, Cle Elum, WA 98922, USA. The owner is informed of seventeen people showing up within the next three hours. They have tables seating up to five people in regular arrangement. If need arises, a sixth chare can be taken from an unused one. This information is meant to allow everyone visiting to plan ahead and thus avoid unnecessary conflicts for seating.”

Redwood: “Nice! We’ll make friends!”
Tonsom: “Whatever…” [to Connor] “Listen you plastic fucker. You please stay in the car. I don’t want to attract unnecessary attention with you in that restaurant.”
Connor: [without any resisting whatsoever] “Got it.”

*I actually looked that place up. They have round tables with seating for 5, maybe six.

Last Part

Team Treadkillers

Still in the stand both of them look at the other cars. While Thomas is talking about which car will break first and how, Fynn is focused on getting some nice video shots of the other cars, which isnt his easiest task. He know how to film low sportcars, not towering Semi trucks.

After the rally started, Thomas and Fynn were excited to finally let the ,now called “Boostbucket”, let free on the wide freedom ways of america. It didnt took them long to get stuck with everybody else in the massiv traffic jam.

“Immerhin haben wir jetzt Zeit für das Intro.” Fynn says as he screws in the last cam into the interior trim.
“Also, Du weißt wie das geht. Lächeln, Intro und du selber sein.” (“At least we got time for the intro now. So you know how this works. Smile Intro and then be yourself”)

With a flick the light on the cams start to glow a piercing red.

“Haaaalllooo an unsere Boosters da draußen”, Fynn starts the intro with a perfect Youtuber face.
“Heute auf dem Travel-Channel: Ich und Thomas ; Sag Hallo” Thomas is waving to the cams, “wir sind auf einer Rally von Sea…” “Hello people! If…" (“Hello out there Boosters! Today on your travel channel: Me and Thomas are doing a road rally from Sea…”)

The CB Radio speaks up. With a quick panic motion Fynn tries to turn it off, but also rips on of the cams out of its socket.

“MANN KACKE EH. Jetzt muss ich alles noch mal machen…” (“AHHH FUCK. Now i gotta redo everything”)

Being sleepy and having to deal with that is not really cool. Imma give myself that -1 MRL for that :stuck_out_tongue:

TRAGGIOGIO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE: SHITBOX CRUSADERS EP.1: ROAD ROLLER TRAFFIC

The traffic jam was doing no wonders for the team’s morale, particularly DAVID who could not really do much other than man the controls of the van, nicknamed “Giovanna” after Giorno Giovanna and bc it’s a van, but the automatic gearbox was a great decision, as was to pack many, many volumes of manga for the others to read. Chatter from the CB radio was heard in the background, especially the talk of the “furries” which was highly entertaining.

DAVID: “These Thundercats clones are quite comical.”

HARUKI: “I think these might be the furries I hear about so often. They are funny though!”, as he continues reading the service manuals for Konosubaru and Kiaqua vans.

The furry “roleplaying” provided a great source of entertainment. Meanwhile in the back row, Emily and Yuri were talking about their lives ever since they last saw each other.

EMILY: “Being home for such a long time non-stop… I can’t bear it.”

YURI: “That was my life, I spent so long back home I never made friends, never got anything done. I was lucky I didn’t starve and run out of money…”

EMILY: “At least you’re out, and doing what you love.” she spoke, while reading through the manga of Neon Genesis Evangelion, which Yuri only just noticed after staring out at the traffic for so long.

YURI: “Are you reading the manga of Evangelion?”

EMILY: “Indeed.”

YURI: “I remember watching that… it was depressing. It kind of helped me try doing something…”

EMILY: “Want to read it together?”

YURI: “How about it? It might be different to read it now I am outside and doing something with my life…”

J: First off: you still are not my dad. Second: All good! [smiles] My mom made some sandwiches. [pulls one out of his lunchbox] She’s the best!
Z: Blah blah blah… [snatches the sandwich out of Jaysons hands] Yep. Yo Mamma’s got the hang of it.
J: What exactly do you mean?
Z: [shrugs]
J: [into CB] Yo yo Good luck everybody it will be bloody…

At Meeting
Nathan: Well that was interesting. What’da think is in the box?
James: I don’t know… this seems all too familiar he thinks to himself…

Stuck In Traffic

The car seems to be doing well, though it is a bit loud for a limo. The windows are rolled down most of the time. James is sitting in the far back enjoying his birthday present while Nathan is driving and Charles handles the paper map.

Charles: Hot Damn, that glove box just talked to me!
Nathan Slightly amused: Ha, na I put that in there last night as I heard the other drivers talking about chatting on the CB.
Charles: Oh, so wheres the ol’ ten footer tenne’?
Nathan: This is a modern one, so the antenna is not that long. I stuffed it in the trunk. We should be able to pick up enough chatter with just that.
C: Oh, well see in my da–

Charles: Say, what’s this her “sky rum” they’re’a talkin bout?
Nathan: Oh, that? I think it was a popular game bout 9 maybe 10 years ago? Something to do with dragon slaying and a big world.
Charles: Ya know? Back in my day we didns have des things called video games… he continues into a slight rant about his growing up…

James: Hey, are we going or not?
Nathan: I’m trying my best to get through this jam quickly. It’s not so easy piloting a ship around little cruisers!
James: Yeah, I suppose. It Was your idea though…
Nathan: And don’t complain about it then, cuz you’re the one sitting in the VIP seat.
James chucked at that

Nathan: Hey, should we stop too?
Charles: I’m not peckered for food, I gots my Veggie Chips! He swings back of veggie chips from apparently thin air
James: Oh good grief!
Nathan: WHAT! How did you sneak those foul things on! I double checked your stuff myself!
Charles: He,he. You didn’t double check in my seat though!
Nathan is dumbfounded by this clever trick, and doesn’t speak a word.

James: Hey, isn’t that one of the competitors?
Nathan: Yeah, I think. …Wait… Weren’t they the ones with the gaming console in the back?
James: I don’t know, playbox is it?
Nathan: Maybe they’re the ones who play Skyrim?
Charles: Sky Rum? That video game thing you wers talkin bout?
Nathan: Yeah. We could show you it.
Charles: Nah! Opens bag of veggie chips I’ve gots better stuff to do like me naps… And Veggie Chips!
Nathan and James: Yuck! Gross!

side note: I did not make it clear, but the limo is louder than you would expect. It’s got glasspacks and full length headers, so the true big block V8 can growl. :wink: :smirk:

aaand be “UNprepared” for smokey burnouts and doughnuts whenever they stop someplace :wink:

Team Rolling Star Update 1:

Marshall: She’s runing like a champ.

Marshall checks the temp gauge

Marshall: So far so good.

Zach: I was a bit unsure, but I think we lucked out. I still say we check the coolant level tonight.

Marshall: Of course. Also check for leaks.

The pair cracks jokes and watches the road in front, occasionally being drawn into the CB chatter.

Zach: Skyrim? Man, if only I had a beefier laptop.

Marshall: You do a good amount of gaming on it.

Zach: Yeah, but most of my games are modded to all hell. No way a laptop can run that unless it’s a dedicated gaming one.

Marshall: True.

Zach: Anyway, what’s the plan?

Marshall: I’ll drive for 4 hours, then we swap. Then we can both rest up for the night. We can make a quick stop when we swap to stretch our legs, eat, piss, or whatever.

Zach: Alright.

Zach periodically glances over at the temperature gauge as the 2 continue onward

INCIDENT: Numerous cars bunched up and started doing emergency maneuvers in front of the Hearse. Driver did not have enough time to react, and hit a deer that was running across the road. (Occurred on Elk Heights, just past Cle Elum) Hood damage, grille destroyed, front bumper destroyed, headlights damaged, possible cooling system and suspension damage. Car is driveable, and back on the road after a short delay. No injuries to occupants.
Ongoing issues: Car has a squeak and slight lateral shift of the rear going over bigger bumps. Small crack in windshield. See above for new damage.

Team Greasy Lightning

“Damn, there’s definitely something going on,” Rick said, applying the brakes in a measured manner so as to maintain symmetry in the gap ahead and behind him.

“I didn’t see any road construction signs,” Fuzz added. “Probably a collision.”

Jen rooted around in the footwell cooler for a moment, produced 3 waters, and distributed them.

“Thanks, hon.” Rick cracked it open and took a sip once he came to a complete stop.

A few moments later a WSP trooper blasted by on the left shoulder, lights and sirens blaring.

“Collision. Must have just happened,” Fuzz noted.

A couple minutes later, the traffic slowly crept up enough to get a peek around the bend in the road. Collectively, Rick and Fuzz swallowed. “Oh shit,” the cop blurted.

“What is it?” Jen asked, craning in futility to see from the back seat.

“It’s one of our group. It’s the semi. Doesn’t look good.” Fuzz reached for the CB. “Hey guys, looks like the guys in the VHI semi are down. Anyone know what happened?”

Stage 2

Mopey – We’re making good progress…the crack seems to have stabilised but the rear’s still getting twitchy.

Spanners – It’s an old car…….you need to expect it to be a little lively.

Gran – Everyone appears to be braking heavily ahead.

Mopey – Yes Gran, I can see.

Gran – Dear…….

Mopey – Yes Gran?

Gran – No dear……DEER!!!

Mopey & Spanners – Oh FU……

Gran – David?

Spanners – Yes Mrs E?

Gran - How does it look?

Spanners – Well……bonnet, bumper and headlight took the brunt of the force. Suspension looks “OKish” and the radiator is punctured. Luckily we have this JB Weld stuff….had to buy it because I couldn’t bring Radweld into the country.

Short while later…….

Spanners – OK, water leak isn’t leaking now. Bumper is useless unless I can weld it back on somewhere and the bonnet closes in a fashion. It shouldn’t come off any time soon.

Gran – Shouldn’t or won’t?

Spanners – Erm…….

Gran – Boys, can you get the deer onto the roof? When we stop for a picnic we can have some nice venison.

Spanners and Mopey look at the carcass…then at each other….then at Gran….

Both – Erm……

Gran – Oh for goodness sake, just do it. You have the tow-rope in the boot don’t you? Well you can tie it on with that!

With the carcass loaded the trio set off again.

Car – Squeak, squeak, squeak……

“What is it Ju- Fuck me.” Through the onboard CB, something cracks through

Juno picks up the receiver, eyes still on the Crashed VHI,
“49 here, Seems like they might’ve missed something, or turned too hard, 'least that’s what Luci’s saying.” He pops the Radio back into the holder, still looking at the crash.

“Hey, Luc, I hope they’re fine.”

“Same, Juno, same.”

Leo: Sniff Sniff You smell that, man?
Zack: Smell? All I wanna do is watch the road and listen to gearbox whine. You want to add smelling to my list of concerns too?
Leo: Okay fine it’s my job to look at things you might miss and I did, you fuck! Slow the car down and focus, you might notice a sharp sweet smell.
Zack: Huh? Lifts foot off the accelerator and takes a good few sniffs Okay you’re right.
Leo: Ethylene leaking? I mean the center console suggests that the engine heat has gone up by two degrees within the last few hours…
Zack: Possibly… Let me check… Well shit the average engine temp has gone quite up… I think we should…

CB Radio Crackles Up

Fuzz: “Hey guys, looks like the guys in the VHI semi are down. Anyone know what happened?”

Leo: Woah what the hell?
Zack: I think we are well ahead of them, no chance of knowing for us. But I’m gonna assume you were right, the front axle collapsed and who knows how the passengers are now…
Leo: Yeah, I hope they’re fine…

Couple seconds of silence

Zack: Aight anyway, we should make a stop soon. Where’s the closest we can stop to have a look at what’s wrong and… well maybe look at some scenery too?
Leo: What… You wanna look at the view? You have feelings?
Zack: Rolls eyes That’s it! you’re driving after our short break.
Leo: But hesitates Okay fair enough, You’ve driven 200+ miles. Fine! I’ll plan our next stop

TEAM COYOTE JIM

Somewhere at the highway

Coyote Jim and Clutch Kick have switched places for the first time, with Jim now behind the wheel. A slight feeling of unease had settled inside the Radster, for a reason neither could quite pinpoint.

Coyote Jim: we did bring supplies…

Clutch Kick: yeah.

Coyote: and spares of all kinds…

CK: uh-huh. Pumps, battery knowing the electric system is a bit sketchy, and other stuff…why?

Coyote: I have a feeling we’ve forgot about something. Not quite sure what.

A few moments of uncomfortable silence.

CK: we just commited a war crime.

Coyote: what do you mean?

CK: what food crosses over cultural barriers, can be tailored to everyone’s taste and could bring peace to a war torn world?

Coyote: pizz- OH FUCK OFF.

Clutch Kick grabbed the radio once again, and tuned in.

CK: hey, teams…Team Coyote Jim here. We forgot about the pizza meeting. Please forgive our war crime. Sigh

Still over the radio, but to Coyote Jim: now I crave some pizza.

Soon after, the news about the semi being out of the race came in.

Clutch Kick quickly grabbed the radio again.

Clutch Kick: Are they okay? What do we know happened?
