The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

Gz to @MarcoAlla

FOA had an Aston clone but went with the monstrosity that Stephy knocked the badges off… We, at FOA, know that the badges were on when we sent it for viewing!

Yeah, I based the reviews on the cars in front of me, not the ads. That one had no badges, which is strange considering I’m subscribed to most workshop mods including badges.

Thanks for the suggestion, probably i will go that way!

Yeah, my english isn’t really bad, but it takes me a little longer time, trying to write correctly.

CSR 36 - FUN IN THE ALPS

Hi, i’m Marco, finally i have finished my automotive engineering studies, with a specialization in Veichle dinamics, and few months ago i was employed in a important italian car company. Now it’s time to upgrade my car!
A little but important intruduction…
I live in a valley in the italian Alps, at north of Turin, this place is rich of automotive history and has a lot of awesome mountain roads.
My favourite one is the route of Moncenisio, a 22km long route, were in the 1903 started the first hillclimb race in the world! won by Vincenzo Lancia (the founder of Lancia) driving a 23hp FIAT.
It’s on road like this that i love drive, so keep in mind this route when you design your car!

For my next car, i’m looking for an affordable sport coupè.
I’m searching a coupè with 2 or 3 doors, it can be 2 or 4 seater, but it has to be light, fast, reliable, and nice looking, and most important, has to be fun to drive, with a sublime handling.
I love high revving, high specific output and straight power delivery engine, i love pure driving, nice sounding car are appreciated.

My budget it’s limited to $24000 with a 22% tax.
Here in Italy there’s an expensive Tax for cars over 185kw (248hp) and the Gasoline (we have standard 95ron) cost a lot.
Car has to be street legal, so cat and at least one muffler are required, comfort isn’t much important, but an Ariel Atom would be way too extreme.

-Important: performance, weight, reliability, handling, looks.
-Average: drivability, fuel consumption, running costs, safety, prestige.
-Less important: comfort, utility.

-Be sensible, so no V12 (my favourite engine it’s a V12, but please no), no carbon fiber parts, no vulgar design, i’m not a ricer.
-Do not min-max, I’m looking at overall car, not just final stats. Non-realistic decisions to maximise stats won’t do any good.

-Trim year: 2016 (model and engine family can be older)
-Only Steam workshop mods
-No negative sliders.
-2/3 door
-Coupè, hatchback or cabrio body
-Avg. Reliability >70
-Minimum economy: 11km/l or 25.9mpg or 9.1l/100km (95Ron)
-Power must be under 185kw or 248hp
-Price <$24000 at 22%. lower price = more money for performance parts!

-Model: CSR36-yourname / free trim
-Engine CSR36-yourname / free

-Ads required, minimum a photo with manufacturer/model/trim name and the price

SUBMISSION STARTS: MONDAY 13/03

Sorry, but the twelfth of march i will be without internet connection.

DEADLINE: SUNDAY 19/03 AT 23:59 GMT +1

Hope you enjoy!!

Ahah that’s embarassing… thanks

Also hatchback body are accepted, but only with 3 doors

How about some negative sliders as less comfortable interior?

I think no, i have done different testing cars, but i had not need to use negative slider, comfort isn’t much important but i want an usable car, and here the road are not well mantained…

So is this your second or third car, in which utility will have no bearing whatsoever? Or is this your only car, but you just don’t particularly care about utility?

Can be a 2 door cabrio?

CoughMX5…Cough124Abarth…Cough…

Yeah i was also thinking on the same line as that

oh damn I can just reuse my car from Denta’s round in this… but I don’t think I want to.

time to be a bit mad, methunks…

Yes can be a cabrio, but keep in mind that I generally prefer Coupè, but if you want submit an mx5 style car, I will evaluate it!

Marco will you evaluate safety based on numbers or our choices? Like if the body is really old but has good (advanced) safety or vice versa if the body is big and new but safety is only basic… what matter more?

Why don’t you just say that price has to be 18720? Or am I misunderstanding?

Is this for engine or trim or both?

Nice question, generally when you buy a car, you don’t have a perfecly clear vision, a car that mix performance and fun with a bit of utility could replace my old Peugeot, but if i fall in love with a pure two seater, i could buy it as a second car… I want to give a little more space of interpretation.

For the safety rating, i tink i will evaluate it based on the numbers, for a more equal competition.[quote=“ramthecowy, post:6614, topic:6447”]

The 22% it’s the tax level for cars sold here in Italy. 24000@22% or 18720 it’s basically the same thing

It’s the Average Reliability.

so it is 24,000 @ 22% markup or 18,720 @ 0%? We don’t need to add the taxes AND markup, right?

I’m asking just to be 100% clear on this one.
