Formed in 1968 in Fremont, California, Westward Motors promotes itself as the “California Car Company.” Seeing as how most car companies were east of the Rockies, the Richardson brothers, former plant managers, decided to create their own company to give the people of the west beautiful – and more importantly, local – cars. Where the out of state carmakers were grumbling about the Mulford-Carrell Act, Westward vowed to embrace it.
