this was pretty awesome, I hope there’ll be more challenges like it in the future
Midpack endresult, happy with that!
Great event!! Special thx to @Danicoptero <3
Looking forward to your future plans on OTCC(like) events!
Thank you all, there’s 100% going to be another OTCC season.
I already have a first draft of the rules but until the new track editor drops I can’t really do much.
Lesson learned — “don’t mess up power to weight so bad that your miniature land yacht moves about as fast as a rowboat”
Glad I got to partake. May have placed higher if I didn’t run a V8, but was pleased with the overall result. Thanks for hosting, Dani!
I’m surprised that my crappy subcompact got to the podium, guess good tuning does work wonders after all ![]()
great fun being part of this, waiting for the next. As @Yewnos100 i’m kind of amazed of how my tune worked soo well
, next time I need to not mess up my own car
first time I’ve seen my car perform well, even if I didn’t do the final adjustments ![]()
BTW, is there a lore reason for why your team picked the car?
it was the last one avaliable from what I remember, a late decision on my part, the lore of it… problably something like a manufacturer that enters f1 without an engine?
Can’t wait for the next one! Maybe then I’ll think about these things like “fuel economy” and “weight”
POST-SEASON REVIEW
With the season now over I wanted to say a few words about every team that took part in it.
I’ll order it by division and finishing position in the Teams Championship.
Division 1
@Xepy - Kaiserin RennSport
The most powerful car in division 1 by almost 20hp. They only had competition at Marada and Astela. The gap with the rest of the teams was usually big, but losing at Marada cost them a lot of points. They were also the only team to take pole at all rounds.
@Ritz - Garage One-Five
Best stint lenght of any car in the championship even with a very short wheelbase, but the time gained in the pits wasn’t enough to compensate the pace difference with the Kaiserins. They were the fastest at Marada thanks to having gears better suited for high speed.
@AMuteCrypt - Borat Sagdiyev Racing Team
Played it very safe with a three car team, good stats and a slower pace. No DNFs so in the end it paid off and they got 3rd in Teams. They also stayed in contention for longer than expected. Very nice!
@karhgath - MTL Racing
The podium at the first race made the team look better than it actually was. They even led the Teams Championship for a round. Second on pace at Drunston but a clear third everywhere else, however reliability issues made them lose valuable points and they lost 3rd to the Sagdiyevs.
@Lil_Cretin - Delattre Racing
Decent stint lenght thanks to the longer wheelbase but they just didn’t have the pace to do better. The were a bit nowhere and to be honest I don’t have much to say about them.
@Maverick74 - Ryuji Team Racing
The only factory team in division 1 but they were just too slow. The 1L engine didn’t help, but the privateers from MTL did much better. It also had to run without front aero and with one car less than what was intended, but it woulnd’t have made much of a difference.
Division 2
@chiefzach2018 & @iivansmith - Zacspeed Racing
They can’t keep getting away with it! Jokes aside it wasn’t that dominant of a season for them. The car was fast but it had a few issues (they lost Cestalis because of said issues), if Scarcelli Corse had two full season cars it might have been very close in the Teams Championship. I also have to mention that most issues happened to #5. The #1 never placed lower than second.
@CriticalSet9849 - Scuderia Scarcelli Corse
The dark horse of the 1972 season. I usually have an idea of how every car will perform, but this was a surprise coming from an user wasn’t familiar with. I wonder how you would have done with a factory team. As I said before, with two full season cars they might have had a shot at the Championship.
@karhgath - Phénix Racing
Slower than the Vitreo-FMW and Lugheads teams but the two full season cars helped them get a nice third place in the very competitive division 2.
@Thanatos - Vitreo-FMW Competition Team
Much, much better than the factory FMW team. They missed out on a lot of points by doing the endurance rounds with only one car. They had similar pace to Last-Minute Lugheads but that team had other issues.
@ad3l_tatar - Sconto Motorsports
Good result despite how many issues the cars (specially #600) had. Props for racing the only wagon in the championship.
@moroza - Last-Minute Lugheads
I know this was a very rushed effort but the stint lenght on this car was horrible. On raw pace they were very close to Vitreo-FMW but they always dropped behind on the races because of the extra pit stops they needed. The 2nd car missing three rounds didn’t help either.
@Marv666 - Vorstentelg Motorsport
They had a terrible round 3 at Marada-Porta but they somewhat managed to recover and ended up a single point away from 6th. Decent midfielder and probably the best 3 car team.
@Isabella - Hexe Motorsport
The Hexe team had their best performances at the short rounds so they didn’t benefit as much. Another decent midfielder, but the privateer running the same cars managed to win a race so it makes them look worse.
@PistonHead - Flatline Racing
Slightly worse than the factory Vorstentelgs although they were sometimes faster than them. They had a stand out result with at Marada where both cars managed a top 10.
@Ultimate_Billy - Factory Team Bovos
Best stint lenght in class. Sometimes it helped them recover a lot of positions in the race, but the pace just wasn’t there.
@AndiD - Mara Racing
It lacked a bit of everything. It had a few issues and it didn’t have the pace. Sometimes it managed to place in the lower midfield, others it was just a backmarker.
@Kreator - Springwell Racing
Worst of the teams running more than one car in its division. The DNFs at both endurance rounds didn’t help either.
@Lil_Cretin - Velt Motorsport
It had to run with smaller tyres than intended and with one car less due to penalties, which hurt it’s chances and placed it right behind the privateers from Springwell. At least it managed to finish all of the races.
@fallenvalkyrie - Valkyrs FMW Factory Racing Team
Even ignoring that it always was multiple seconds away from the next team, splitting the season between both cars was a terrible idea. The only thing that managed was making sure both of them finished dead last in the Drivers Championship.
Division 3
@Xepy - Lunascura Corse
The #33 was the best car in any class in my opinion. Five wins, a second place and a third. It’s teammate struggled a bit more though. With the exception off Brunhe they were the fastest eveywhere but not by a lot.
@donutsnail - Turból BFG Racing Orisia
Always close to Lunascura but they only beat them in one race. Still the final standings make them look worse than they actually were. Without the DNF in the 750km race the #41 would likely have taken 2nd place in the Drivers Championship.
@breadtheloaf - Comanche Motorsport Division
The Comanches had a good season and quietly took third in Teams. Some of their rivals were faster or more reliable, but none could beat them over the whole season.
@Kreator - ACZ Racing
Slow and steady, the ACZ was usually in the midfield, but they never had a DNF so they managed to beat teams that were often faster than them. Props on making the pushrod V8 work.
@Kanye_West - Hoffsman’s Werkdivision
Surprisingly few issues considering the stats. They had a really good result in round 3 and they managed to keep 5th in Teams for the rest of the season.
@HoboCop - BOAC Oberon Sport
The most powerful car in the championship and the worst in fuel. Pace was decent, but awful fuel economy and plenty of issues lost them a lot of points.
@Isabella - Hexe Motorsport B
Similar to the factory Oberons, a bit better on fuel but also a bit slower in general. The #25 got completely fucked by RNG though.
@Maverick74 - Ruthoantyrth Racing
Ruthoantyrth only placed so low in Teams becasue they only had one car. That car was usually top of the midfield and reliable but the points system heavily favoured two car teams. That was by design but it might change next time. Still it took 5th in Drivers and won the Privateer Cup so pretty good performance.
@Ultimate_Billy - Bovos Racing Team
One of the few car in division 3 that could match the stint lenght of the top 2 teams. Pace wise it was far from them though. One of the cars missed three rounds, but on the other hand the cars finished all the races they entered.
@supersaturn77 - Newman Motorsport
The Newman was underpowered for its size. It was great at cornering either so it was a backmarker for all of the season.
@PistonHead - Flatline Racing
Same as the Newman but slower. It only managed to beat them at Cestalis. It finished last in every other race
Will you do another one sometime? (i mean this multi-month championship style challange). I discovered Discourse too late to join this, but at least it was enjoyable to watch as a spectator lol
Yes, I have plans for another one. I have to wait until we get the new track editor though.
nice result for autosport debut of sconto, i hope its top-3 in next season
