1975 [REDACTED] people's car (Results are out!)

Hello great designers of my land! It’s me you’re great leader.
Our great and true nation as you know has no problem, but we always strive to improve! Therefore, we are hiring you guys to make our beloved citizens a car! A people’s car if you will…

Your cars will be tested (with BeamNG tests included) in various categories and the winner designer’s family will be released as your reward! The rest of designers and their families will work in the factories to make that car!

Car rules:

  • Max technology of 1970 ( we’re 5 years behind other nations because we use tried and tested technology)

  • All quality sliders are to be set on zero. No negatives or positives.

  • I will not specify vehicle cost or tech pool size, but the cars will be ranked on those values and there will be points removed from cars on the bottom half. (If you’re car is on the more expensive half you will lose points based on your position). I enjoy the chaos of you second guessing yourself after all! (Lose up to 15 points for the most expensive car)

  • Cars must be compact but spacious.

  • Only hard long life tire compound

  • Designs will be judged and given points to, Interiors can help but not a big deal. (max 5 points)

  • It must seat 5 people

  • It will be extra points (up to 3) if the car has variations on it. Such as sedan, compact and wagon. (The seat count only applies to one trim)

  • Use maximum of 1 aero fixture.

  • Name of the model should start with (PCN) so i can easily find it.

Engine rules

Engine rules:

  • Max technology of 1970 ( we’re 5 years behind other nations because we use tried and tested technology)

  • All quality sliders are to be set on zero. No negatives or positives.

  • Here are the rules on different layouts
Inline: Can use up to 2.5liter engines, using this layout also grants you a +1 point.
V shaped: Can use up to 2liter engines, using this layout does not take or give any points
Boxer: Can use up to 1.8 liter engines, using this layout is -1 point (you lose a point)

  • Should run on UL85

You have until “December 18th at 11:59 UTC” to submit your designs, make your country proud! DM me on this forum with your .car file, with it write your thought process and a creative ad (worth 2 points total)

Your cars will be tested by yours truly in various of tests (in BeamNG) such as:

  • Safety (out of 5 points)
  • Performance (out of 5 points)
  • Ride quality (out of 5 points)

So the trim/variant years must be set to 1970? Or should we set the tech pool to -5 in every area instead?

Why only inline engines?

Ah, silly designer, cause the leader demands it (To have a closer competition. I understand boxer engine would be an interesting choice but it’s too compact and a great advantage it has over the inline designs.)

yes, you can either put everything on a -5, or set the year overall to 1970 for engine, body and everything

Am i dumb or is there no L85 available?

same, i was confused if he meant Low quality unleaded or L as in leaded and maybi AKI IDK

I would recommend limiting to one of these for simplicity. (preferably -5 techpool because I don’t see that much, it’s kinda interesting, but either works)

A few other notes:

This isn’t really a rule, is it? It’s a design request. Unless you have a specific size you want to mandate, I’d recommend listing this elsewhere, leaving the “rules” for things that’d get people disqualified if they don’t do them. (and with the engine size limit anyway, I don’t recommend limiting creativity further with a size mandate)

Is this meant to be Leaded 85? 'Cause as said above, there’s no such thing. I presume you mean unleaded “low quality” 85? (or are you using AKI, as suggested above? either way, please clarify further)

To make it easier for participants to gauge time, please give a specific date/time as a “due date” (something like “December 18th at 11:59 UTC”)

Otherwise, I do like this concept! I already have something fitting, from an old challenge that got abandoned, so I’d love to update that design and give it a second chance. Excited to see where this goes!

My only other complaint would be the insistence on an inline engine. Granted, most entries would probably end up with one anyways (including mine) but if someone could make a boxer or V work why would it be outlawed?

Sorry meant to say UL85

It’s unleaded

  • Sure, go for -5 techpool. Reason i said it like that is that the year lore is 1975 but we want max technology of 1970, either works still.

  • Yes, it’s a design request. And it will affect the points will be counted in design judgement.

  • It’s unleaded 85 or low quality 85, my U in the keyboard is a bit funky.

  • You have until December 19th at 12:00am UTC

Glad that you love the concept, now make [REDACTED] proud!

It’s part of the challenge, mainly made this decision to make sure it’s a closer competition. You still can try to make a funny Inline 6 or go for a huge Inline 3.

Due to the express of people wanting the rule about engines changed, I’ll update the rules

Does this include compression and/or RPM?

No, it’s meant for quality sliders, but i see the confusion, i’ll fix it in the main rules
