1986 Nissan 300ZX (lots of pictures)

I’m new here, can’t wait for this game! Heres some pictures of my '86 300ZX.

Paid $1000 for it. Its not my first, I have quite a few more but I’m not going to post about them, right now atleast.

Fresh after a bath:

Looking good! Any plans on restoration on those leather stools? :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like a great project car! What are your plans for it?

Excellent, wonderful, fellow 300ZX owner! Shame you opted away from the oh-so-80s red leather seats.

Stainless Steel Braided clutch damper bypass line:

Went to the JY and picked up a 87 turbo trans (R30A, way stronger), as well as a 87 turbo CLSD…and the subframe and suspension crap, which I dont need but it was the same price either way.:

Working on FMIC piping:

Brand new Turbo-Automatic engine oil pump, flows higher volume than the pumps the manual trans cars had. Its also been ported, so it’ll flow even more.

Working on figuring out piping still…

I started painting the suspension components again. Springs are Z31Parts.com Z3Rs (discontinued, 315lb/in) and the shocks/struts are Bilstein HDs.

Weather is starting to get nice again

And the new engine is about done:

Waiting on the rest of the timing belt stuff, so I threw the timing covers on just to prevent them from getting damaged

Nope, I threw them out. They’re heavy as hell compared to the manual cloth seats I have now, and the porno red is hideous.

I plan on driving it…LOL! Its about “done” for now, just waiting on my 60-1 T3/T4 turbo…hoping to make ~400whp this summer.

I follow your thread on Z31performance as well.

Looking fine there. You’re gonna post some vids while rolling i hope.

Figured out the piping yet?

I got one of those high flow oilpumps as well. I noticed my pressure dropped when it heated up. Seemed like it was a non original transmitter that really was the problem. Im going to rebuild the gauge holders to mount some Gaugetech gauges instead. Some gauges i can trust. To mount it i will have to remove the oilpan, right?
