Wow, you actually made a logo out of vents. How long did that take?
A while! I’ve actually had the idea for several months, but found the whole prospect daunting. Then I realised I sometimes spend literally weeks designing a car so figured what the hell.
Must have been fiddling with it for like an hour… it’s so damn finnicky to get everything in place when one is trying to get fixtures to do things they’re not designed for…
A good surprise is that my car had 100hp less than the rivals, but had the some performance.
It actually has nice all-round performance and does well on the track.
To add to the list of drawbacks my car has, it’s only got a slightly modified race preset because I don’t know how to tune the suspension fully.
Oh dear, I totally didn’t read that the tournament is only open to 15 cars. I was in the middle of some tweaking and now the tournament’s closed!
No car from me then, oh well.
wait… only 12 entries and it’s closed already?
it was only 6 yesterday O_O…
i waited a bit too long… damn
I feel like Strop should be allowed in just for the dedication shown in the creation of the logo

From a competition standpoint I was half-heartedly relieved that my car wouldn’t have to compete against the suspension tuning prowess of Strop (I’m a twit when it comes to suspension tuning). But from a fair standpoint and seeing the community we have here, I’d be very disappointed if you don’t get to enter the car you built just because of making a number out of vents. I second Microwave’s motion to admit Strop to the running.
Honestly the logo itself, while technically achieved, has a few things that bother me. But more importantly, it’s Felgen’s tourney and rules, and I haven’t even submitted the car, and I don’t wish to pressure a change of the rules. It’s up to Felgen’s discretion!
(Besides, I reckon I could do the decals a bit better in future, this was a decent first attempt.)
There’s room for one more. Two cars are waiting for approval. If you send your car, then we have 15.
aw damn… i just stopped when i saw it closed… so i dont have a car ready…
Still waiting to see if the PUWoA Bagel will be accepted… I hope it does! We need some FWD
It’s approved. Just wrote it in the list with your username instead, due to the fact that the car name was not in the file.
I did rush the tuning part a little. As you can see I’m packing a fair bit less down force than most others, and I’m not 100% sure its faster this way. It might be slower on tracks with lots of mid speed corners but top end acceleration is better. Also damn the massive estate wagon has surprisingly low drag.
I also get really twitchy if not using the minimum possible margin to the limits so I ended up tweaking the rear overhang of the frame until to got the weight exactly right it actually makes very little difference (like 0.01s tops).
Finally, I didn’t like using such tiny wheels in such huge wheel wells… But the lap times were best with 15" (and unsprung weight reduced too) so there you have it!
I, too, don’t like to have any excess weight, so I used a combination of interior quality and brake size to get the weight to be exactly right.
Also, regarding tuning, I was hampered by role-playing, using the same bore as some other engines, a transverse AWD layout and not using the crown vic body, which has both lower drag and massive arch extensions, which would allow people to fit enormous wheels or use a lot of offset. (Yes, I am already coming up with excuses even before the challenge started)
I too, needed ballast to add into the car, but somehow foolishly I thought having an iron block engine would be the best way to do it. It took me until after I submitted it to realize front bias= Probably not what you want.
Just tried to make a version of the massive wagon and, in 5 minutes, without any proper tuning, it managed to be a whole second faster than the car I sent. Stupid roleplaying and authenticity.
I’m one of those people too, I can always find ways I could have improved my car. I’ve had to delete cars after I sent them because I’ll just keep getting frustrated on how much I could have improved. Ah well, as is life I guess.
