This Cordelia Eline was expertly tuned by Foork Sports for the 2015 LSC spec.

Any similarities to other cutlery based tuning shops are purely coincidental.

Mitsu Flowery


An Aluminum semi-space frame with double wishbones and multilink suspensions.
The only car with active aero and also very surprisingly, only 165 mm tyre widths.
2.0L front mounted Boxer 6 (DOHC) redlines only at 5900 rpm
Rule infractions: Too low wing angles + engine and trim techpool at +5


MM Tobago Cup


Steel/Aluminum monocoque with double wishbone suspensions all around.

Ok, so and here’s the final cut. 4 cars had to go to make room for the final 10 and it was not an easy choice. I’m in general extremely happy with the cars I got and amazed by the amount of variety in the solutions while maintaining high driving standards.


And… the first bin is…

Mitsu Flowery

The first red flag was the meme toy design, 2nd was the rule breaks. But under the hood there are more, starting by being the only car with so thin tires (165). Then there is this engine:


which has almost no power band.
It has the worst acceleration stats on all levels and an almost 15 sec 1/4 mile time. everyone else is at most at 13 secs. It is also one of the heaviest cars of the field


Second bin is…

Gazelle Paul V8

I get where it comes from but for the ones who don’t know, this one is a recycle job from a previous challenge I hosted. That was for 80’s hatchbacks though and the transition to a modern light race car did not really work. Apart from the above mentioned, this design looks the most distant from the subject for this challenge. Not having an interior also does not do any favours to it. It’s previous iteration was a super fun AWD with a powerful V8 but its RWD 200hp counterpart is not very wieldy and comes with a dubious brake balance to help. (no abs)


The Third bin is…

Reveriata


This one was a more difficult choice because it’s not very far from the ones that are not binned.
The design, while ok, does feel a bit rushed. Notice the lack of interior materials. But the biggest difference happened while driving it. It lacks traction, nimbleness and consistency while not feeling really fast. looking at the engineering choices one can start finding what might have been wrong.
It’s the only entry with full MacPherson suspensions, it has an open diff, the rear sway bar is non-existent and the rear springs are much stiffer than the fronts, its ride height is the highest of the field, and, it has a manual gearbox instead of the better option, the sequential. The engine however, while not giving out the best music, is pretty good. One wonders with all these engineering downsides, where did all the budget go?


The Fourth and last bin is…

MM Curacao Cup


Hmmm, what’s wrong with this one? Not much actually. It’s just that someone submitted a double entry under the condition that only one would be allowed in the final cut. The engineering is very good, design also and it feels fast and wieldy on track. However its partner, the MM Tobago Cup, beats it by being smoother, turning better at lower speeds, feeling very safe under braking and having a V10 engine which sounds insanely nice. Did I mention it’s the best at accelerating from the whole field.


Congrats to the final field and the more intensive test driving will start shortly. (also a poll for aesthetics will be online(soon))

Ok, so I was going around in circles on which method/website/app I would be using for the aesthetics voting only to not be really satisfied with any of the “free” options (or maybe I was just procrastinating) and so ended up coming back right at square zero and opted for the most basic method, this forum.

  • Rank them relative to each other, from 1st place to 10th place with a car at every position, no ties.
  • If you also submitted a car, you do not need to rank your own car. If you do, that rank will be ignored anyway.
  • Please also take in consideration the context of the challenge(date and type of car).
  • Please don’t vote “strategically”, that is, trash the car you think is in more direct competition with yours
  • Anyone can vote, each vote will count equally as much.
  • A couple of design experts(that is, designers who have had their own designs featured on the official Automation posts) will also be asked directly to rate the cars. These will be weighed a bit more than the ones from “normal” mortals such as us.
  • No deadline as of yet, but at some point in the very near future I’ll stop accepting votes.

little update: one of the judges already drove all the cars, so this means we’re 1/3 of the way to go.

Huh, could’ve sworn I got rid of the Pugno’s windshield with cutouts

you are correct. On my previous photos of your car(With exactly the same model) the windshield is not there. (see previous cars presentation) . I’ll take a look later tonight at what went wrong and replace the photo on the post.
