Okay, now entries are closed, I’ll explain how I went about it: truth be told, while my car looks like a 2016 Lotus Evora, it isn’t really at all built like one. I may not be the best at making well-balanced cars that appeal to everybody… but by golly I can make it go fast! The crucial differences are as follows:
First, where the original is an aluminium frame, this one is a carbon tub, with really flimsy polymer panels. For >30k budget scenarios, this is the most cost effective way to cut weight while not compromising on safety (coz carbon chassis gives a massive boost). It also significantly improves road performance.
Second, where the original engine is an aluminium block and headers Toyota 2GR-FE 3.5L V6, I went with cast iron 3.8L. I didn’t really need the extra 3hp the iron headers give over aluminium for a 20-something kilo gain, but a) it’s cheaper b) in a light MR car, it puts the weight where it counts, and c) there’s no other way I was going to make the weight anyway.
Then I sunk massive amounts of tech into the transmission, because that e-diff works wonders and is well worth the price in an all-out race, and obviously the tyres. I’m using tyre tech +13, because any more will give you maybe 0.02s on most tracks and cost you another 5-10 grand. Not worth it. However of all the upgrades I recommend this, and aero, be upgraded the most (aero because it’s cheap, but keep in mind if all the tracks are tight and technical, more drag isn’t a bad thing).
All in all, these are the stats:
Spoiler times below (highlight to reveal)
Automation track: 2:06.27
Airfield : 1:14.34
Green Hell: 7:24.39
Okay, to clear up the confusion:
If you sent the PM to me BEFORE I made the “Okay everyone! Here’s some news” post, and the car meets all the rules, then you’re fine.

That’s a really fast car!
My 2016 Snake Coupé doesn’t have a chance to win
Thanks for sharing those secrets tho
Should have added more tire quality… Oh well, at least my driver will be comfortable.
Damn, Strop. I’m impressed. I don’t think I’ll be losing but I won’t be beating you out.
I also used a CF tub + Polymer panels with Double Wishbone front+rear. Cut out most of the quality on the first tab of the model (body) to cut on weight and cost.
0-62 | 2.7 Seconds
Weight | 1000.9 KG
Top Speed | 183.0 MPH (294.5 KPH)
Automation Air Track | 1.18.77
Green Hell | 7:49.50
13 Quality on Tires and 15 on the Aero. I pretty much kept piling on these two until I reached ~35,000 dollars. I found the best way for me to cut time (by about 2 seconds!!) was to manually do the suspension settings by trial and error. Maybe I should’ve went for the E-LSD because it definitely is a noticeable improvement, but I didn’t. Oh well, we’ll see how this goes. Wouldn’t be surprised If I just end up middle of the pack. I’m also afraid that my rather dismal drivability will end up ruining me.
As for the name - I was looking at the Ferrari 599 while building this. the front originally looked exactly like it but I’m not a fan of the dopey looking face on the 599.
Hell, my car might be somewhat competitive even if it is ugly as sin, I probably have the smallest engine to boot as well.
EDIT: Biggest thing that will kill my car is my low driveability, compared to some of the other entries I am going to get hit hard by the RNG god.
I can out stop the strop, I can out accelerate the strop (to 100 at least) but I cant BEAT the strop…damn you strop!!
Well, my car is pretty heavy, but at least is quite drivable.
Here are my not-so-impressive numbers:
Automation track: 2:17.78
Airfield track: 1:21.22
Green hell: 7:54.89
Had an export error on my car, so I am not sure if my car will be accepted. :S
Looking at some of these lap times seriously changed how competitive I thought my car would be. I knew I would be at a disadvantage due to weight and my use of the FR sports coupe. I can’t even come close to Strop’s posted times. I think I’m generally outclassed in this one since I used a different approach than the small car, small turbo conglomerate we see here. The only thing I have going for me is top speed and drivability.
Well, here are the stats for the Tauga XR. I accidentally clicked on something before I took the screenshots which has changed the price and some of the performance stats of the vehicle. The costs were around the $33k mark before, and the 0-60 time was 3.0 seconds.
Haven’t been able to recitfy the problem even after replacing my files with the ones that I sent to BassixDnB (aka the ones in the .ZIP extracted folder), which either means I’ve ruined the files or they were the actual ones I sent.
Any chance you could see if the stats in the images below match up with the ones on the car I sent you @BassixDnB?

My car is good when it comes to short distances, especially with that 0-60 time and the quarter mile time, but I doubt it’ll be able to keep up with the mid engined sports cars that have been entered.
Still, this is all a learning experience for me as it is only my first competition and in all honesty I just want to see how well the Tauga does against the other cars
DeusExMackia: go to your sent messages, download the zip file, delete your car and engine from the game, copy files from the archive to where they shoudl be (like drive:\Users\Admin\Documents\My Games\Automation\ ) and restart game- you should see the original car back.
To keep things alive, here are stats for Yix Wandal.
It does not come as good as strop’s in the corners, and the driveability is junk (I have overlooked its impact), so let it finish where it deserves… This was done with “limited budget and time” - without trying other concepts, keeping to AWD and 2.0l lightweight turbo engine -which, I think, is not so bad after all.
Bruh, any updates?
Has the competion been abandoned or something?
Last visit was the 19th, unless BassixDnB is on a vacation (not nice without a warning) then this isnt looking too good Just hope nothing bad happened to BassixDnB, it has happened before though, people get very sick suddenly.
He was logged on to steam today playing a game so I don’t think anything bad happened.
From what I recall about our little chat we had a while back, this is a very time intensive challenge to figure out based on how he set it up. I wasn’t entirely sure on how long it will take, but I image there’s an excel formula that will expedite it. I also recall him saying he would be starting school around this time so he may just be really busy IRL.
Oh well. RIP I guess?
Looks like it. Oh well
