The game has now been updated. Event 2 results are currently being checked and it looks like it was a really good competition! Super important too as there are a total of 150 points to grab. Looking forward to seeing how you all have done.

You find the new event in the list of classics this time around, because it is just one stage… a VERY long one and VERY difficult. All rests on this stage!

I have also prepared my playthrough of the second event in video form for you to see what choices I made. It wasn’t a perfect run, but very solid once again.

Submissions for Event 3 are now open.
Cheers!

Round 3 Results

One of the competitors pushing hard out of a corner on the Der RĂźcken Hill Climb.

Automation Results

Der RĂźcken Hill Climb was a pretty dramatically different event to the Automation Test Track and Ellisbury Road Course, in that the two most important things were low-speed handling and acceleration; there are virtually no meaningful medium- or high-speed corners on the track, nor any straight longer than a few hundred metres. @AndiD took the top spot again of the contestants, edged out by a mere five seconds by @Killrob on the challenging, winding course. Roadkill made a nice jump up the standings from their last result, finishing a very respectable sixth place behind @Xepy. Olivthree made a healthy jump up the standings, but not as big a jump as in their Cyclist results - more on that in a bit.

Special Round 1 - Technical Evaluation

After many hours of evaluation on the test track, and pouring over their extensive database of crash test and vehicle reliability data, the Hetvesia Technical Certification Authority (TZS) has released their results for the competitor cars. They were incredibly impressed overall with the safety and comfort of the Rizzo Icaro (by @Der_Bayer), which very handily took top honours overall, even if that car was outside the top 10 in reliability. @Texaslav finished third in the technical evaluations, with the most consistne results across the board of the top 10, just edging out @Xepy’s Lunascura Adula. @karhgath took the top spot overall for safety, the Regal Octane Touring earning a coveted “5-Star Plus” rating from the TZS, while MLAPP101 was crowned the most reliable car in the field, taking the full 50 points for that category to earn their first score of the event!

The Cyclist Results

One of the riders winding their way through the hilly roads around Zeilwies, on Stage 4 of the Alpine Tour of Hetvesia.

This event might as well be called “The olivthree Show”, as they came out of absolutely nowhere and set a scarcely believeable time! They went from not even playing the Prologue round, to 19th place on Ike’s Peak, to an incredibly competitive third place in this event, barely a third of a turn behind AndiD and less than a turn behind Killrob, an absolutely tremendous improvement…well done to them!

@SheikhMansour also set a solid time in this event after sitting out the previous round, which will no doubt help their quest for a top 10 finish. The rest of the field remains very competitive, with barely more than four turns separating Killrob in first place from PureCarbon in 16th place. These points will be very important going forward, as the overall standings remains very tight right now!

And speaking of PureCarbon, a big congratulations to them as well, for winning the random draw for a $25 US Steam gift certificate, for completing the Alpine Tour of Hetvesia!

Overall Standings

Overall Cyclist Standings

AndiD leads the field the field after the completion of Round 3, a strong showing in their Cyclist times helping to offset a pretty rough evaluation at the hands of the Hetvesia TZS. Killrob’s lead opened up slightly, while third through tenth places closed up on AndiD ahead of them, with many others still within striking distance of a top 10 finish with half the challenge complete.

We now head across the rugged spine of the game world, following mountain roads through scenic valleys to the extremely picturesque resort town of Monte Vias, where the contestants will take part in a challenging tarmac rally, set on the first three stages of the world-famous Monte Vias Rally, the first stop in the premiere rally series. Running up and down the hills and valleys surrounding Monte Vias, the roads are narrow, unsighted and treacherous in many places, and will be a huge challenge of driver skill.

On the Cyclist Side, after the event completes in Monte Vias, the circus picks up stakes and heads south to the spiritual home of professional cycling, participating in the grueling and prestigous Classic Fruinia, a massive team time trial that tests the limits of endurance for all the riders involved!

I’m very surprised to be in the top ten in the cyclist standings. I’ve also moved up to 15th overall, and it would be nice to make it to the top ten, but unless the voting is extremely in my favor, that seems unlikely.

hot damn! can’t believe I made top 3 in TCT. Now I’m afraid to disappoint in the following rounds :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn, going for the stats was so not worth it… :smiling_face_with_tear: But I’m still very happy to have convinced ze Technische Zertifizierungsstelle! And of course to still go strong in the Cyclist!

Next round I had a minor blackout though, playing it as an ITT for the last 2 turns. My average time of my top 3 riders was faster than Killrob’s - unfortunately this is not what counts… :joy: But until the last turns I think I did many things right, so the losses should not be too severe. We’ll see!

And here it goes! The second proper big TCT race for you to take on. 3 TTTs through Archana and a final ITT in the glorious capital Kronagrad.

Before you jump into that I wand to point you into another direction, maybe you can pick up a few hints in my playthrough of the beast of a TTT that was part the visit to Fruinia in the CCPC.

Loads of points to grab in this next one, and again all 4 cyclists count! An almost equal split between rank and performance, so the latter is more important in this event. If you have your good moves saved up, it is time to put them on the table now and get close to the top.

The new patch with event 4 is live!
Best of success  because no luck will help in this one.
Cheers!

It’s nice not to score immediately below the lowest-scoring position in Automation for once. :D

TFW when >1 minute behind in a <8 minute race

Is it all about Power, like the Prophet Clarkson says? A few 0,0x extra cornering Gs, no brake fade also helps somewhat. Otherwise, black magic?
Will there be a (video) summary of what worked for cars, or even more juicy, a presentation of the Barodeur EX500s secrets? I find @Killrob 's Cyclist playthroughs helpful, even though things tend to unravel every other race.

Yes, that is a video I plan to make  I think I have identified all the bigger exploits and successfully implemented them with the EX500 (EX standing for “exploit”). Also, I’ll go through how those will be addressed / fixed. That will be very important for the 4.3 update.
Cheers!

The Cyclist Event #4 Submissions are due in at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the 2nd.

Times in The Cyclist have continued to be extremely competitive, with more and more competitors getting closer and closer to Rob’s times…will we see someone match him before the end of the challenge? Who knows…

This cycling game is feeling like a waste of my time. I don’t find it fun, even if I were winning. I just noticed I was up to 40 minutes of play by the time I hit stage 5 - and shut it off. You can withdraw my name from this competition.

I mean, the event due today is the second to last. It would have taken you close to zero effort to be done with this ‘cycling game’.

I spent 3.7 hours doing something that ultimately I don’t consider fun and engaging. Maybe honesty is better for the devs than “just finishing it”. Why waste another hour of your life doing something you really don’t want to for no good reason for you to do it? That’s a job for a paid playtester.
