@stm316 I’d argue Australia counts as non-traditional because they have only one brand that was sold mostly in one country, if we eliminated countries with one old but large brand we also couldn’t count Seat, Škoda, Dacia, etc as cars from non-traditional countries.

Holden, Ford (88 years), Chrysler (1953 until 1980, bought by Mitsy), then Toyota from '63 til '17. True, our retarded government convinced everyone to to leave, but that’s a different story. The US had “The big 3” consisting of the same companies as Australia [GM-H counts as GM).
1964 - A record 13,963 Holdens are exported to 61 destinations.
A trad country might depend entirely on where you are. Pakistani folks might not consider Estonia to be traditional, but might think Britain is (a theory, not fact). Maybe “50+ years”.

The reason Holden was the most popular response? It didn’t start exporting cars to North America until 2003 - and by then, its European export program was limited to Britain, where only the range-topping variants of the Monaro and HSV E-Series/Gen-F were sold there. But that made Western enthusiasts even more curious about them.

Holden may be a “traditional” brand in that sense, and by no means obscure. However, people in general outside Australia doesn’t think of car manufacturing the first thing they do when they think of the country. If you ask the man on the street to quickly say the first word that comes up in his head when he hear “Italy” or “USA”, there is a slight chance that he would say “Ferrari” or “Chevrolet” even if not being a car guy, but most people (outside Australia and maybe NZ) wouldn’t answer “Holden” as the first thing they associate with Australia. That’s why I did choose it, since brands from countries even less known in general for car manufacturing is either too obscure for even most car enthusiasts to think of, or just brands like Toyota, VW, Ford etc. manufactured locally that are more associated with their countries of origin.

Ford, Chrysler and Toyota aren’t Australian brands though and this whole question looked to be a question of the country of origin of said brand. In the same light as I would never say Belgium is a traditional car manufacturing country even though they’ve made plenty of Fords, Volvos, Audis, Renaults what have you there for decades because nobody outside a very specific type of car nerd thinks Belgium or, say Slovakia (or even my native Saab and Mercedes building Finland) when you mention car manufacturing even if they produce a lot because they don’t have any notable native brands.

I’m not the arbiter of this challenge of course and it’s not that serious anyway but if Czechia is non-traditional despite them hosting the giant that is Škoda, then Australia is non-traditional too.

I interpreted “Non-traditional” in the context of this question to mean “not previously mentioned,” but yeah it’s still a confusing question. Australia, China, Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweeden- in my book, none of those places are “non-traditional” at all, as they all have rich car manufacturing histories and world-recognized brands. Hell, some of them have a bigger record than aforementioned Korea.

But hey, the goal of this game isn’t to be correct, of course. The vagueness is precisely what makes this such an interesting question; you have to guess what the car community would assume the car community would assume “non-traditional” to mean.

Also, I am not looking to start a war with someone like @stm316 that generally always has been nice to me, but I am not really sure that someone that had Volkswagen Golf as his vote as the best italian car ever should say too much about if other people’s voting is correct.

With that said, the vague definition of “non traditional” made this one of the hardest answers of them all, but it seems like I hit bulls eye there, so…
