So yeah, got bored and decided to make this (not my model, I only made it mid engined). It’s not exactly period correct, because the body only comes into play in 1955, but meh, we’re not going for realism here. You could probably fit a 2.Something litre engine depending on what suspension you use and whether you use transverse or longitudinal etc.
Simply unpack into C:\ProgramData\Automation\assets\meshes\cars\Mid\small 40Sedan Mid.zip (456 KB)
I seem to be stuck with a 0 tameness, no matter what engine/transmission combo I put into the car :-S Maybe a mid engine car is too ‘new fangled’ for the people of 1955
You can make a pretty quick ‘not-beetle’ type set up with this! When/if rear engine is ever an option we can worry about being 100% ‘authentic’. Until then, I am pretty content with this.
Haha, sorry if I misled you This is just a vanilla body. I’ll upload a photo so this doesn’t happen again in a minute, I had to reinstall photoshop again.
I’ve experimented with mid/rear engine chassis’ on front engined body designs as well in the past. But to my mind the chassis setup doesn’t work yet on a normal family car because of the setup wich cuases the engine to end up where the back seat would be. I hope the devellopers create a real Rear engine chassis in the future.
Provided you’re not going to be too worried about where the engine will be (just messing around) the easiest way to make a mid/rear engine chassis is to copy the folder. Like the 90’s hatch is front small engine, copy it’s folder to rear/large and see what you can do
It’s not that simple, as the .lua files are slightly different, but converting a car from Front engine to mid-engine is fairly easy since the lua file is pretty much in plain text.
