A car for the elders, and the youngsters [DONE]

The year is 2023. Our buyer is Jane Holden Parker, a retired 75-year-old woman living in Dothan, Alabama. She is the grandmother of four children. Her Buick LaCrosse has bit the bullet prematurely and needs to be replaced. Since she bought that car in 2017 she got two more grandkids, and it was annoying having to take multiple cars. She is looking for an SUV, Minivan, or wagon with 6 seats or more (With at least 4 being in the back) so she can carry those grandchildren and her husband, too.

PRIORITIES

:star::star::star:

REALISM
For starters, it has to be road legal. So wipers, lights (3rd brake light, markers), etc. If it’s a Traverse competitor make it look like one. Give it some chrome, some plastic. if your entry has a 2 liter inline 4 and a hand made interior my eyebrow will rise.

COMFORT
She’s 75 so she needs a comfortable car, and can’t drive around in something that will break her back.

SAFETY
She is very concerned about safety, as she often has toddlers in the back.

PRACTICALITY
This is a daily driver that goes on shopping trips, so they need to be able to pack a decent amount of luggage.

:star::star:

RELIABILITY
She babysits a lot so not breaking down in the middle of the road would be helpful.

DRIVABILITY
She is growing old, so she will need something decently easy to drive, a manual is out of the question.

:star:

PRESTIGE
Her neighbors would make fun of her if she had a car that’s too ugly.

SPORT
It doesn’t need to be sporty but it can’t take 25s to get to 60mph.

NON-PRIORITIES

OFFROAD
She never needs to go offroad with it.

This is actually quite reminiscent of QFC21, which I hosted, but with SUVs and station wagons being eligible along with minivans.

Also, for period correctness, if an actual automatic transmission is being used, it must be of the advanced, electronically controlled variety. And given the era of the setting, a 3-way catalytic converter of some sort must be mandatory. Finally, I’m assuming all seats (of which there must be at least six) must be full-sized.

ACR Vea Fenis LX V6

Do you hate driving? Do you only care for your own safety? Do you think that giving your kids a bike will get them killed?

Introducing the ACR Vea Fenis. Named after a moon which doesn’t exist, it perfectly exemplifies the sorry state of the automotive industry. Weighing about a ton more than it should weigh, the Vea Fenis propels you and your band wagon of kids right to the school’s doorstep, through a woefully underpowered V6 producing 200 horsepower, transmitted through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

I’m gonna do what’s called a Pro Gamer move.

Swanson 217 TAP Multivan

Powered by a 200 hp 1.7 turbo boxer engine, through a 7-speed DCT for great sportiness and a 6,4 L/100km economy.
7 7-way adjustable seats, 7 speakers, a more than 7 airbags and 7 degrees of Rock & Roll for $27.700.

Yes, it’s literally the same car as in QFC21, with more TP. More pics here

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

You can buy a SUV from an unknown manufacturer that you hardly can pronounce.

Or, for the same price, you can choose to rely on an all american company that has been building SUVs for almost 90 years.

I had originally planned to rehash my QFC23 entry, until I realized that I could come up with a better car (one entirely of my own design) for this challenge.

Oh, but think of the children! They can’t be caught looking at women!

VAM 550 SV

VAM Presents: The American Wagon

It is 2020. The V8 motor is on its way out. Emissions laws circle above, and new regulations continue to make it harder for the V8 to persist.

But in Slovakia, engineers have worked together to come up with a sendoff. The 2020 550 will be the last V8 wagon- so it must be the best.

Presented is the SV, the entry level V8 option. Lower trims can be had with a V6 or 2.0 turbo. The V8 is detuned for quieter rides, happier cruising, and simpler driving. The S means it’s paired to a high tech 8-speed automatic, for better economy, comfort, and simpler operation. The V means it seats 7, with a third-row bench giving you all the seating you could ever desire.

While the SRX and the other performance trims make the SV look slow, the SV does not slouch. It’s faster than the other entries at this price, despite being larger and more comfortable. The V8 takes highway cruising as a fact of life, and remains quieter than the competition at highway speeds. With 324 horsepower and 363 lb-ft of torque, you can load up your family and all their stuff without even noticing a shift in driving.

The 550 SV. The American sendoff.

I’ve never participated in one of these, but I have a vehicle! How do I give my car file?

You may need to make a couple more posts on threads before you can DM people on the forum.
